Food is delicious and the servings are huge. I lile getting beef fried rice and mixing it with sesame seed chicken. One of the wait staff can be a bit rude but the rest are nice.

First time here– looking for good Chinese food in the valley and came based on reviews. Our experience was pretty good. Service was fast and the portions were huge(we had enough left overs for lunch for 2 the following day). Ordered sesame chicken and a combination meat noodle. I was surprised to see that the chicken was big pieces of white meat, but it was a little bit dry. Sauce was yummy.

Service was great. Food came out fast. Kung pao was not very good however. No flavor. Maybe we will try something else next time.

We love Dai Tung. We moved to the area last year and did not know anybody., so had to find good places to eat by ourselves. We try to eat local, avoiding large chains when possible. Started checking out Unilocal for reviews and found this gem. Service is prompt and courteous. Menu extensive and everything is fresh cooked.

Awesome Chinese food here in the Valley. Food was fresh, quick and the dinner portions are large like everything we do here in Texas. Will definitely return!

Great service, great relaxing & clean place… The food was served fast, big portions I had General Tso’s, it was crunchy, tender chicken in the inside however I think the sauce was not spicy enough, it needed more kick, more flavor… over all, it was good.

Chinese takeout was decidedly the Saturday night dinner objective, which of course then piqued my curiosity. How does South Texas fare with regards to Americanized Chinese cuisine. Not that I love the heck out of Chinese food because, confession time, as a Chinese person, I actually prefer Thai and Vietnamese cuisine — FORSHAME. We called in a pretty massive order, with the Szechuan bean curd for me(per the owner/phone answerer — it’s vegetarian). «Ten minutes» seemed like an underestimation of time and indeed it was, as we had to wait a bit. But during that additional three or five minutes, I observed like 6 groups walk in or out. Sundays are reportedly even busier, so plan accordingly. Ultimately, the bean curd was palatable, although excessively oily — which is very typical of Chinese take out. I did like that it was not overly drowned in sodium(despite the tofu triangles being a deep brown), it actually had a bit of a sweetness. The portion was fairly generous, especially considering no one else would dare touch it — hey more for me. My tummy was angry with me afterwards, but it’s always whining about something… I think it ended up being like $ 70 for 10 people(two of whom were tiny children capable of eating a few bites of sesame chicken), so pretty all right!

Best Chinese in the RGV for sure! The food is always fresh and hot! The owners will walk around speaking to customers during lunch time and make you feel at home. Try the Moo Goo Gai Pan or the China ThRee Delight!

Best Chinese food in the world. Every time I go home to visit my family I make sure to stop by Dai Tung immediately. I have even asked my mother to get the Chicken Fried Rice to go and fly with it when she visits me. I have yet to find a place with just as good CHICKENFRIEDAMAZINGRICE.

Took me a while to sit down and write this review due to very mixed-feelings about my experience there. First of all, the service, EXCELLENT. The staffs and owner were friendly, professional, and pleasant. I was excited to try this place after having been told that it is operated by Chinese/Cantonese chef that has been around for some time. Being Chinese, I was eager to finally have some authentic Asian cuisine in the valley. The food, really wasn’t BAD, but to my disappointment, it also wasn’t amazing. The Spicy Korean Noodle was bland and I had to flavor it with the chili sauce, soy sauce AND my shumai sauce. We also ordered the KimLow Wonton(spelling may be off), which tasted good but just very awkward to eat because the fried wonton shells were closed so you couldn’t really place the shrimp and bbq pork inside so we ended having to chop the wonton skins into small pieces and mix with the swt&sour shirmp/pork…at that point the dish just became really weird. Another thing we had was the steamed shumai, which was previously frozen and didn’t have much taste. Lastly, shirmp/vege hefen(wide rice noodles)…again, really bland. Judging from the review and the look on the owner’s face when I ordered those entrees, I may just have ordered the«wrong stuff». I will try this place again when I visit McAllen but will probably choose the«safe» dishes. Not recommended for fellow Asians seeking a taste of Chinese authenticity.

Pretty good Chinese food for the Valley. Much better than the Dai Tung on Nolana(not recommended). I get the sesame chicken here and have never been disappointed. It’s made with all white meat and not stringy gristle like cheap Chinese restaurants. Service is not bad either. Get there early for lunch or good luck finding parking!
