Visiting Mobile for the weekend. First place we stopped for a beer because of the reviews. We arrived around 8:30pm on a Friday and got a great service. Jeremy was a great bartender. He was friendly and gave us samples. Recommend for visitors!

Probably one of my favorite bars downtown. They usually have something going on every other day. I really like the service and the bartenders there are nice. They did recommend some good beers there as well.

Hipster as hell… and I like it. I don’t identify myself as hipster but I enjoy their take on drinking establishments. Rustic yet refined. Savvy bartenders, usually folicaly festooned. Strong pours and just enough pretension to make you think you’re better than the people who don’t like it. This is my definition of «hipster as hell». This place fits the bill. If you’re ever in Baton Rouge check out the Radio Bar. Very similar establishment. Maybe that’s why I felt so at home at Alchemy. Sincerely, Daniel M. Duke of Radio Bar

Terrible service. Saw them ignore one group until they left in a huff and refuse service to a group from New Zealand because they didn’t have US identification.

Alchemy is my favorite bar downtown. If you are looking for a cool place to chill, or dance, or karaōke, or see live music, or not have smoke in your face while sitting at the bar, this is the place to be. Not to mention they have some phenomenal drink specials, and a vast array of beers and liquor. Now the bar tender you get depends on the night you go and if you are upstairs or downstairs. But most of them have a pretty set schedule, and each has their own specialty. Friday and Saturday nights are my favorite because I love Amanda and Jeremy! They always help me make a great decision and will make me something adventuresk if I ask. They can make some killer cocktails. Wednesday night, and a couple others, Steven will be your bartender and I assure you will have fun with him especially if you play his trivia. Upstairs you have Sergio, Colins, and… oh I forgot the third guys name. All are great. The shows are upstairs so it can get a little loud. But you can always escape downstairs or take a step out on the balcony if need be. If you like karaōke, you will have plenty of opportunity here. I think they have it every Friday. But you can get it Saturday if you have a big party coming. Just ask before hand and buy lots of alcohol. This will easily become your home bar, or just a great experience while you are visiting. Enjoy

We happened upon this place by accident. We were staying a couple blocks away and were told that Dauphin St. is the place to go for drinks; the Alchemy Tavern is block off of Dauphin and right across the street from the Saenger Theater. Initially we walked right by the place and didn’t even notice but on the way back to the hotel we stopped in and I’m glad we did. This place made the trip to Mobile worth it. The bartender Zach, was knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great selection of beers, including many from the region; my favorite was the Brother Joseph. For $ 5 you could go to the comedy showcase they were having in the back part of the bar and it was well worth the money. They had 4 comedians, some local and a couple from New Orleans. All 4 made me laugh at some point in their act. If you’re in the area, save yourself the time and go to this place first, it’s the best bar in the Dauphin District from what I experienced.

Great beer selection. They had karaōke Thursday night. I had a really good time here. They were a bit short-staffed though, but once the bar died down, they were pretty prompt. One tip bartenders, if you get slammed, don’t just hang out at one end of the bar and leave people at the other end hanging forever. It constantly makes me think of whether some bars should have an order area and everyone lines up in order. The more slammed a bartender gets, the less they pay attention to who was first at their bar and it’s often the loud, tall dude who can literally bend all the way over the bar that gets served first. Or just get a server on the side with a tub of beer bottles. I’ve seen that a few places. Or better yet, just get a beer vending machine. In an empty bar, most people are not going to use the beer vending machine, and bartenders aren’t losing money if people are so tired of waiting they leave. Better you lose a tip on the first beer from the vending machine but the dude stays and orders another beer from you later when it dies down.

GREAT beer selection. Of you’re bitching about the price, you probably drink Coors Light. Chill staff. Trivia on Wednesday is a must.

Very cool location to hang out and see a band. They have a great selection of drinks and the bar tenders were attentive. Not really sure I understand the layout and I imagine that on a big night that one bar would get very busy and be very difficult to order a drink. Not the same crowd as most of the other bars, we had a good time though and I’m sure we will be back, but they don’t serve food so it won’t be for dinner.

No sign but just use your GPS and look for the people hanging out outside on the bistro chairs. Nick the bartender was very knowledgeable about beer and local culture. Exactly the kind of place you want to find when you just land and are looking for high quality conversation. We left having sampled many amazing brews and got a tour of the whole establishment which… well…made us feel special. What a great group of guys. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in town.

I visited the Alchemy Tavern to get a beer or two after a job visit to Mobile. They have alot of microbreweries on tap. I tried a 51 and a Painted Black from Fairhope Brewery and they were both very good. The problem is that I was hungry and they offer no food service, just drinks. The barkeeps were friendly, talkative guys that kept my glass full. They play a jazzy musical background that is not in my listening circle but it seemed to set a mellow mood. I was not too pleased spending $ 5 a beer either.

GREATPLACE! It’s not a crowded frat bar blasting pop/dance music. It’s not a stuffy wine bar loaded with pretentious snobs. It’s a laid back hangout bar with an amazing beer and whiskey/bourbon/scotch selection. It’s a little hard to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for, but I would definitely search until you find it. You won’t regret it

Bartenders are fantastic. Free pool. it really has a nice vibe to the place. they host an open mic night, karaōke some nights plus live music. I was told they might start serving food so when that happens i will give an update on that.

This place has some serious potential. It is already a great bar to hang out at, with a pool table in the front, and a long bar that serves tons of bottle beers, draft beers, cocktails, and also has something like 80 types of whiskey available for your drinking pleasure.(Hint — they keep a lot of it in the back so ask for your favorite even if you don’t see it). But after they complete the remaining construction, there will be a back room and an outdoor patio with an outdoor bar, as well as an upstairs«lounge» area for you sophisticates. The bartenders are super friendly and will whip you up concoctions you never knew you always wanted. Across from the Saenger Theatre, it is a bit hidden, but definitely worth checking out.
