I have tried so hard to enjoy this place, as everyone I know seems to love it. However, everytime I order, the food is a huge disappointment. Just… so bad. To the point where even the most basic element of Asian cuisine is not cooked properly.(I’m looking at you, bloated sticky rice…) I’m giving two stars for the atmosphere and service.

Good at times, but… The lunches are very simplistic and not interesting. Every chicken dish tastes like McNuggets are used. i left a big pile of Shanghai chicken on my plate. Nasty! Everything seems too salty, too processed. Plenty of red goop to dip your nuggets in. Arghhh… Been many times so not a spurious event. Ok, now if you order off the dinner menu, you get a much better dish usually. So my advice is to order dinner items vs lunch specials… The thai beef salad, pad thai, squid dishes and soups are good.

Great restaurant for dinner with family. Great Asian atmosphere with waitresses in Asian attire. Has vegetable spring rolls and they were very good. Mom and I tried two different main courses, both were excellent; the portions were twice what either of us could eat. Other tables around us were enjoying food and conversation in a very relaxed atmosphere. Total bill with generous tip was $ 23.

Our favorite oriental restaurant in the city. Great service every time we have been in there, whether lunch, dinner, after church, whenever. Love to pick up carry out and take home for a quick hot meal. Favorite dish? May sound too simple but their«Hot and Sour» soup is constantly great. I love to always start with a good soup and this can make or break an oriental restaurant for me. Prices? Very reasonable. Nice clean atmosphere. You can’t go wrong with a visit.

Been here a few times now and the food is awesome and the portion sizes are huge when dining in, take out has a little more rice than I want. Friendly staff although service is slow. Nice quiet atmosphere is really nice. Highly recommend to all.

We’ve enjoyed Asian Garden since it opened. Even though management has shifted from one person to another, the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant hasn’t changed. It’s still the best bargain in town during lunch! I appreciate the friendliness of the staff who have memorized my entire family’s regular order and how relaxing it is to eat there. The parking lot is usually full on Friday nights and Sunday after church. It’s worth the wait, though!

Wow… last night we went in… sat for over an hour… no activity and at this stage our party and others simply got up and left… interestingly could not even pay for the appetizer as no waitress would come to our table. or others… only food emerging from the kitchen where the whole staff seemed to be was for take out orders… unbeleivable… we had stopped going to China Doll in favor of this place. After we left went over to China Doll. got served immediately… they have redone China Doll and it was great… my advice is simply… AVOIDTHISPLACE… I think it is closing… if it isn’t then it should… serious problems… not simply slow service./.NOSERVICE… AVOID…AVOID…AVOID…Talk about a terrible let down from what started off with so much promise…

We usually like this restaurant! But last night we sat for over one hour waiting for our food which never came! The kitchen was doing to go orders, one after another, and letting the customers inside wait and wait! No one got served and we kept asking and they kept saying«just s little longer»! We finally got up and left! No one even bothered to help us when we tried to pay for our teas! We went to China Doll and got served quickly and it was delicious!!!

TL;DR Version: Service was slow and bad, food was underwhelming, atmosphere was claustrophobic, and we won’t be returning. See below for the full review. Came here today for the first time, and we expected them to be busy during a Sunday lunch rush. Surprisingly, we were seated immediately, though the hostess just slapped our menus down on a table and rushed off. No, «Your server will be with you» or «Enjoy your meal.» Additionally, the restaurant was chaotic with the all the servers(I counted at least 7 for a restaurant with maybe 20 tables) constantly darting around, and the tables are arranged in such a way that the the place seems crowded even when it isn’t. They even have a table jammed between the doors to the bathrooms! There were a few extra seats at the bar, too, for customers waiting for tables or to-go orders, but the bar top was covered with clutter, stacks of leather booklets for the tickets, and baskets and paper everywhere. There were even canisters of fortune cookies at one customer’s feet as he waited at the bar. He accidentally kicked it over at one point, and the servers kept having to reach around him and under his legs to get to them. The white tablecloths and fancy plush chairs are nice, but stuffing them into a tiny room doesn’t make much sense, and it seems like the owners are trying to make the place seem a lot nicer than it actually is. I ordered the lunch special sesame chicken, and my husband ordered General Tso’s, both with water to drink. The server brought me the wrong soup and never checked back in with us to see that everything was okay, so I ended up just eating the soup. The appetizers(egg roll – which was really more of a spring roll – and tiny rangoons) were okay. We waited over 45 minutes for our entrees(which surprised us since it doesn’t take long to make these dishes at home, let alone in a high volume restaurant), and when they finally came, both were overcooked and dry, and my sesame chicken had so much garlic that the smell of it burned my eyes. I LOVE lots of garlic, but I had to physically move the plate away from me. An hour later, my mouth still tastes like I ate straight cloves of garlic. We got one drink refill the entire time, we didn’t even get straws until after our entrees came out, and it took another 20 minutes after they cleared the table for us to get our check. The server who took our ticket and credit card was gone for another several minutes before bringing us our receipt to sign. No one even apologized to us for the excessive wait, let alone offered a discount or anything. We will not be returning.

Food was amazing! Looking for authentic Chinese food? Come to this place. The food is not commercialized like the fast take out places. Great staff and the spice rating that they have on the sides of the dishes on the menu are a great help. I recommend the level 5 hot if you think you like spicy food.

Very confused why people like this place so much. The service was good, but the food was god awful! I went back a second time to see if I happened to get a bad meal, but no, same results.

Stopped here on a trip from Panama City. Had been craving Chinese for a while because there aren’t any good restaurants where we live. Chose this place for the good reviews. Good selection of large affordable meals for lunch. Service was warm, genuine and friendly. Place looks pretty nice though needed to be swept from lunch rush I guess. Food was good, flavorful and fresh tasting, though fried rice was a bit overcooked. Came out nice and hot. The only weird thing was the shrimp. The staff told us they were local, and truth be told, they looked like it. They were fresh and mild like gulf shrimp. But they handed us our lunches in a box cut into a tray, and it reads Vannamei white shrimp, frozen from India, farm raised, 21⁄25. Would have ordered beef had we known this prior to ordering! Overall was good, so we forgive them, but urge change to the honesty of ingredients and employees.

This place is right down the street from my apartment, so I thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did because it’s wonderful! I ordered General Tso’s Chicken and it was seriously some of the best I have ever had.

Placed an order for pick up, so I can’t speak to the ambience of this place. However, I did notice the white linen on the table while I sat at the bar waiting for my order. That was unexpected, the place is in a strip mall. Called in an order and it was ready within 20 minutes. A lot of bang for your buck, so much food! Had the vegetable spring rolls(2 to an order). Get these, they were tasty! Also ordered was the Pork Lo Mein, General Tso’s Chicken, and the Shanghai Chicken. Really enjoyed the Shanghai Chicken, cooked well and nice flavor. Watch out for the red chilies! It would be a mistake to eat a whole pepper in one bite! With just a nibble, my lips and tongue started to tingle. The fried rice was good too. Did it blow my mind? Well, no. But, it was a really yummy and filling meal! I would certainly order from here again if I lived nearby.

Happy that this little spot was turned into a good Chinese place. Close to home out in West Mobile. After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I took the advice of others and we ordered the lettuce wraps, fried dumplings and General Tso Chicken(could of had a bit more spicy heat) I agree that the fried rice lacks a bit of flavor — but is fresh. The décor inside is unexpected and lovely(posted pic). I am looking forward to coming back at lunch for their $ 6.50 specials so I can try their other dishes too.
