Briquettes Steakhouse

Had prime rib sandwich for lunch. Plenty of meat on a nice hogue bun. Not a slice of meat but shavings. Very heavily seasoned with their rub which took away from any nice meat taste. Looked like a lot of outside trimmings where the rub is applied. The horseradish based sauce was served on the side and was good and it helped overpower the seasonings.
Would not recommend this unless you like a heavy rub taste.

Took hubby’s advice and ordered the half steak sandwich with Cesar salad. The sandwich comes with a horseradish dressing, which I got on the side — too hot for me! However, the sandwich was DELICIOUS! Au jus for dipping was perfect. Cesar salad had an «interesting «dressing, very similar to the horseradish sauce. It was a good salad, but there was too much dressing, drowning out the lettuce and parm. Tea was very good also. All in all I would recommend as a place for a yummy lunch!

The steaks are just as good if not better than Ruths Chris steakhouse for half the cost. I would’ve given it 5 stars but the only drawback is the location is very tight and it can get very crowded very quickly. For value and quality of food and service I give a 5 star.

After waiting 45 minutes for a table, we were first seated in a conjested area (almost at the same table on bench seating. We were waited on by a nice waitress who took our food and beverage order (there was 4 of us).
After another 30 to 40 minutes we were brought our food by anther server. We were surprised to find the food was cold. My son sent his ribeye back. The brought it back after approximately 10 minutes, and even though it was warmer, his medium rare steak was now medium to we’ll done.
He asked the server to remove from the table. She acted pretty agitated about it, and my son brought it to our waitress ’ s attention.
The rest of us ate our food even though, all meals were Luke warm. The flavor was great, but the warmth of the meal disappointing.

Okay, after quite a while we’re gave them a retry. It was a busy Friday night but both of us were able to be seated promptly. I enjoyed them Sun dried tomato pasta and my wife had the ribeye, nice flamed tasting steak but as before too much fat was left on.

Ribeye was tasty yet chewy, prime rib was tender with very little flavor. Biscuits (?) were undercooked. Customers that were seated after us were served their meal before us… unfortunately, not a good experience. Expected better quality for the price. On the up side, our server was very professional and the Martinis were good.

Great service and food. Amazing filet! Also, the crutons in the salad were super yummy.

Fantastic restaurant, especially for someone like myself who travels a lot. When I want a steak, I’m usually torn between Roadhouse/​Outback on the one hand and Ruth/​Mortons on the other. It’s a tough place to be as I want great quality in a relaxing setting but I don’t want to pay a lot. Briquettes solved that problem! Food is top quality and reasonably priced. My steak was cooked to perfection and came with a side and salad. I walked out of there stuffed and still had a money in the wallet. I found out about it from a recommendation by a local and was thrilled. This place has instantly made the roster and I’ll be back next time I’m in town. One of the best steaks in Mobile! Always been very happy with my food here but wait times and very limited space for waiting can be a hinderance
to a relaxing meal!

Due to a jonesing for a good piece of red meat, we tried this place, after hearing about it from several folks. It was AWESOME! This location is tiny, so there will be a wait at dinner rush, but it’s worth it and there is a bar so you can have a cocktail while you’re waiting. You can smell the grill and taste the char and I recommend saving some room for dessert at least once. As of this writing, I believe they just opened or are soon opening a location at the old Outback on Airport near 65, which will obviously be bigger buuuuut sometimes the quality changes when a 2^nd location opens… let’s hope not with this place! The service here was top-​notch! (I think they serve lunch too)

My asparagus is always cooked wrong… or my steak is well done. I go back because friends invite me or on a date and think my food will be exactly the way I ordered it… NOT. I was there on Aug 12 and my asparagus was mushy and sent it back and it was not even cooked at all… seriously raw and cold.

Great restaurant. Great service. Don’t miss this extraordinary steak house. Every time we go in we are greeted by the kindest hosts. Kyle Dahlmann is not only a fantastic server, he’s beautiful too! Try it out. You’ll come back for more.

We were told to get here at 5 p.m. and now I understand why – there was a line by 5:30 p.m. on a Friday night! The restaurant is pretty small, but we were seated quickly and our server was great. We all had the 6 oz filet and it was delicious and fork tender. The sides, like the mac-​n-​cheese, rosemary potatoes and asparagus were good, too. The only reason I’m giving Briquettes four stars instead of five is that I wish there was a better selection of cocktails and drinks that weren’t made to be super sweet. Solid place for a solid steak!

We’ve been here many times and have always had the best experience. Stopped in today for lunch and the food and service was excellent. My wife had the filet with asparagus and I went with the prime rib sandwich. It’s one of our favorite spots and I would highly recommend it.

We had an awesome dinner tonight. Husband had bacon cheese burger with onion rings. He said 8.5 on scale of 1 – 10. Onion rings were amazing. I had the porterhouse (bone in). Best steak I have ever eaten. Huge too! We will definitely be back.

We had a hankering for steak so we made the drive to Briquettes after reading the good reviews on Unilocal.
It seemed sort of strange to see this place in a strip mall since I’d read it was locally owned and not a chain. The next thing I noticed was the line out of the door. We almost left but decided to stay and wait out the 45 minute wait. Do you know how some places automatically tell you the wait is going to be longer than it actually turns out to be? Not so with this joint. It was a 45 minute (if not longer) wait for sure.
I was able to enjoy two Bloody Mary’s and the Rotisserie Chicken Nachos while waiting at the bar and they were pretty darn good.
I ordered a ribeye with onion rings at the table and though the flavor was awesome, it seemed to be over cooked on the outside. There was too much of it charred instead of being tender.
I’d probably return, but I might think twice about ordering a steak at Briquettes.

This was our first visit, we arrived at 17:30 and was able to be seated right away. The waitress was helpful by describing the menu and the specials for that evening.
My wife ordered the Parmesan chicken, with a side of sweet potato casserole, and a side salad.
I ordered the 12oz. NY strip (medium) with grilled asparagus and a side salad. The side salads had sliced eggs, carrots, roma tomatoes, red onion, croutons along with a selection of homemade dressings.
The steak was cooked to my liking and I sampled the sweet potato casserole which was awesome!
I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to anyone else.
One negative would be that the dining room does get loud at times.
