If you want good homestyle cooking, order the daily lunch special! I’m especially excited that they’ve recently added pork chops — huge pork chops!

Great seafood and BBQ. What a great find! I still contend that the best BBQ I’ve ever had was in Wichita, Kansas I think Dick Russell’s does a really terrific job too. The portions are huge, the service is friendly, and the food is really, really great!

We stopped in to Dick Russell’s on our way through town. After 6 hours in the car with toddlers we were hungry and needed more of a break than just fast food. Around 1pm on a Thursday, there were a few parking spots in the front and a few open tables inside. The décor is kitschy to say the least, but that also makes it kid-friendly since they’re not taking themselves too seriously. In addition to the menu, they have lunch specials for a little bit less. I chose the BBQ pork with turnip greens and white limas. Jimmy got the smoked sausage with baked beans and turnip greens. We got a kids grilled cheese and a kids burger, both of which come with fries for the boys. The lunch special includes dessert, and our choices were banana pudding or bread pudding. I’m not a fan of either, but chose the banana pudding for the kids. The desserts arrived before anything else. The corn bread and biscuits were surprisingly dense, good for the kids. The food arrived while Jimmy was trying to occupy the boys outside, so I inhaled a bit while I could do so in peace. The turnip greens needed the pepper vinegar desperately. The limas were salty, but ok. The pork was relatively tender and covered in sauce. Same was true of the sausage — covered in sauce that masked whatever smoke flavor there may have been. None of the boys were impressed by the banana pudding. Jimmy said he liked the bread pudding, though it was on the dry side. Service was friendly and just attentive enough, but the food wasn’t good enough to make me want to return.

Horrible customer service. Recently my husband placed a to go order for prime rib a few days in advance. When he came to pick it up at 7pm, he had to first wait at least 15 minutes before anyone ever told him they didn’t have his order ready because they ran out of prime rib! Last thanksgiving, we ordered their take out thanksgiving meal. We had to wait awhile for our order to be ready(that we placed way in advance) and then to top it off, they forgot the gravy. They are inconsiderate and they do not offer to fix anything when there is a screw up. Will not be returning here.

Passing through from Atlanta to Houston, and both the food and service were great! Leeann made great recommendations and served us well. From the biscuits and onion rings before the meal, to the just right amount of spice gumbo and seafood platter with turnip greens and green beans — everything was seriously delicious! We travel by here a couple times a year, and this will definitely be our stop in between.

Love the décor, country style. The food is always amazing. You can dine in. You can also go through the drive through. The prices are average/affordable. Staff is great! Plan on returning!

Dry meat smoothered in bbq sauce. Nothing about this satisfies your need for bbq. Would have been better getting a t.v. dinner than a 18.00 sampler.

During our stay in Mobile, Alabama my husband and I discovered Dick Russell’s barbecue. It has the appearance of a chain restaurant however it is not. The parking lot was packed at 11:47AM. There is handicapped parking, but no spot was available. When we went inside there were no tables to be found so we waited. The wait wasn’t very long however we were thinking of leaving when suddenly a family got up from the table and it was free for us. The staff is extremely busy however, They were very friendly. I took several photographs of the barbecue menu most items seem to be standard but the food is absolutely delicious here. The lunch special was $ 8.95 per person than most anybody would be satisfied with the items on their menu. This special also includes bread pudding or banana pudding for dessert. This was an extraordinary find on Interstate 10 at exit 14 and head north it will be on your left. This was another wonderful southern meal, my husband and I absolutely adore the authenticity. We will be back, in fact we stopped back on our return trip and we were just as happy as the first time we went. We will definitely be back!

This place is disgusting! I’ve never been served sliced pork and told it’s a BBQ pork plate. We also got a BBQ chicken sandwich but the the chicken was diced it cubes. Besides the appearance of the place feeling like a dungeon, the food had zero flavor and the BBQ sauce taste like ketchup! Please save your money and go get fast food… it will taste better.

After spending a fortune in New Orleans on food and drinks, I found the best food yet at this place. Gumbo…better than any I had in N.O. I have a big appetite and from a previous review, I went with the burger… and couldn’t finish it. My mother had the BBQ stuffed baked potato and I’m not sure 2(normal) appetite people could eat this. Easy to get to, we were in and out, in 30 minutes. I will definitely be back!

I have eaten here several times only getting their Old fashioned hambuger«The Big Dick Burger» and it is simply the best burger in town, served with great fries, it is the Bomb! I hear they have a really great breakfast also, but I have not tried it yet.

Come here whenever I am in town. Great place for barbecue that is fresh and reasonably price. Friendly staff too.

Southern Cooking at its finest. Dick Russell’s has been in business forever, and that’s no surprise to me! Every time I come I am treated just like family. The eloquence and charm puts you in an atmospheric haze to the problems of the world. Whether it’s biscuits, hot cakes or link sausage for breakfast(some personal favorites) a hamburger or chicken strip salad for lunch, or a Seafood platter, Ribs or Steak for dinner Dick Russell’s never disappoints. To say Dick Russell’s only has BBQ would be to say GE only makes light bulbs. The diversity of their menu is broad yet still beautifully wound together with strong ties of southern eatery perfection. Dick Russell’s doesn’t change, because it doesn’t need to. The food that was good decades ago is still good today as it will be for years to come!

Excellent! We have been in Mobile since August 2014. We have enjoyed this place 3 times and enjoy it every time. They have a very nice gumbo and comfort food is the main deal. Excellent BBQ and sauce is tasty. This is not a chain which I love and the staff is helpful and courteous. We will be regulars here

Incredible homemade biscuits and rolls! Very good beef, chicken and pork BBQ. The sides of macaroni and veggies were mediocre. We loved the southern hospitality and unbelievably fast service despite the big Saturday brunch crowd.

Average bbq in an average but a bit dirty local. The smell was amazing and the lunch specials were a great deal $ 8 for ¼ chicken 2 sides bread and desert. Sadly all was just average. Wouldn’t return.

I stopped here with my family on our road trip to Florida and it was very nice! We picked it because it seemed like a place that«The Natives» of Mobile would eat at we love BBQ. For the price that you pay… you receive EXCELLENT portion sizes. My classic cheeseburger was almost the size of my hand and nearly all of us were able to take to-go at least a meals worth of food! Additionally, the food tasted amazing. My fiancé said that it was some of the best BBQ that he has ever had. The building was clean and the service was lovely, everyone that we interacted with was very nice. I only had two complaints — the biscuits and green beans were a bit too salty, and it is not in the best area of town. But that’s not enough to take away a 5-star rating!

I had high hopes for my first barbeque stop in Alabama. I’d compare it to the McDonald’s of barbeque, but McDonald’s is better. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches and there was nothing pulled about the pork. It was chopped, low quality, very bland served on a stale bun. Their barbeque sauce made it tolerable. Potato salad was on point though. Cheap eats… sometimes you get exactly what you pay for.

I stopped here on the advice of a young lady that was working at the state line Welcome Center. Not bad. It is a seat-yourself-pay-at-the-counter establishment. Not long after I chose a table I was greeted with a menu and ask for my beverage choice. I ordered the Monday lunch special. It was a lot of food for just $ 7.99! BBQ chicken(or beef brisket or pork), 2 sides, corn bread or biscuits and choice if 1 of 3 desserts. The food was pretty decent, the service is ok and the price makes it all worthwhile. If I worked near here, I’m sure that I would be a regular.
