They don’t have much to choose from and they are ridiculously overpriced. The burgers start at $ 10 and you have to add every extra item you want for $ 2-$ 3 per item. You could end up paying close to $ 20 for a damn burger to order how you want it… when most places already have these options included. Won’t be coming back

The service here has gotten worse and worse. This last time, we were treated so poorly that we left without ordering. We truly want to like it here, so we’ve come back after having previous bad experiences. This was the last. First, we waited in the dirty foyer for so long I thought they were closed. A disheveled hostess eventually sat us without a word. The woman who came to our table stated she wasn’t our server, but was taking a drink order. She made it abundantly clear she did not want to be doing this. She rolled her eyes when we asked for a beer list and said they don’t have one. So we asked for what we liked. Sam adams– no. Yuengling –no. Abita –no. Then she disappeared and so did we.

After trying the food at a catered event a while back, I decided to take my family to try out the restaurant. It took 40 minutes to get food on a slow day, once we got the food the burger was over cooked and small, wilted lettuce and tomato. When we asked the server if the burger should look that way they explained that the holidays caused them to not have their«normal» burgers. It looked like a bubba burger yet they still were charging $ 12. Very disappointed in quality of food. Our server was nice but the kitchen is severely lacking!

One of my very favorite places. Awesome menu choices and you can’t go wrong with anything I have yet to try. This is something to note, because I usually go to a place and get stuck on one or two things that are my favorite, but here I keep trying and keep liking. The quality of the food is outstanding as well, and I must brag on the service. They were gracious and accommodating. One footnote: if you are trying to reach them by phone, their number has changed. 251−340−2522.

Bad experience! Poor service. Bad atmosphere. We were served frozen cheesecake and froze because it was so cold and it was at night and the lights were super bright. It wasn’t a good experience and we are generally not too picky. But it was so bad we said we will NEVER go back.

Won’t go back again. Went at 4pm on a Friday. Maybe 3 cars parked out front. We ordered an appetizer and our drinks. Had to get someone to find out waitress to get our meal orders in. Waited 45 minutes for our food. Another 3 tables were filled by now. Still no food. The employees seemed to be just having social hour. Finally our food arrives. It was okay. Not stellar. My daughter ordered barbeque and was not good at all. It was taken off our bill thanks to the waitress. They have now a open window bar which makes the restaurant a bit chilly now that it is fall. But who cares about the customers anyway. Bye Felicia!

Hungry owl was our favorite place when it first opened. Over the last few years the restaurant has went down the drain! Locals have boycotted even supporting a local business owner due to his attitude and lack of concern for customer. Our last visit was the straw that broke the camels back. We took family that had never been and talked it up to get them to go. The restaurant was about 80% full. After waiting almost 2 hours with a small child we still had no food. Another 30 minutes and we finally had drinks and appetizers. Finally received our food which was cold, undercooked and nasty. My brother in law had ordered a hamburger, the burger was so under cooked that it was cold and slimy. I took the burger to the owner/chef and had a major confrontation with him. I asked him if the burger was edible, his reply was if you ordered it that way then it’s edible. After voicing my concerns about the long wait, cold food and undercooked food he told me «it is what it is like it or not»! I was shocked to say the least! After paying full price for our meal we left to never step foot in the door again! I wish that less than one star was an option.

My family has been to Hungry Owl’s several times. We love the atmosphere, menu, and service. I personally love the burgers! We really enjoy dining at Hungry Owl!

I sampled a few of the items from the menu and loved everything that I tried. I would say that for a first visit you have to at least order the Ultimate burger. As the guests sitting across from yelled over to help me figure out where to start, «just pick it up and dive in, we won’t judge you here.» The sides of grits and southern greens tasted better than I could have expected. And the fried pickle spears were a perfect way to start off the meal. I’ll come back just to see if the rest of the menu lives up to the first visit!

Awful experience! We were charged $ 58 for 2 burgers, appetizer and 1 drink. Upon leaving we realized the price sounded high for the meal we ordered. I called and spoke with the person who said he was the owner. He gave me the following breakdown of our ticket: Burger $ 12 Burger $ 9 Appetizer $ 10 1 Drink $ 2.80 Then told me the subtotal was $ 53.80. When I told him that was not correct, he then said«would you like for me to give you the math?» My husband took the phone and asked the owner to please give him the math… which he did, giving the same breakdown as above. My husband informed him that his math was wrong, the numbers above total to $ 33.80 not $ 53.80. Upon arriving back to the restaurant to correct the problem, the owner would not even speak to my husband… instead had the lady at the bar(who was also rude) give us a $ 20 bill. The only good experience we had was that our waitress was friendly, and seemed embarrassed by what had happened. We will definitely not be going here again, and will spread the word. Being business owners ourselves, we understand the importance of friendly, and appreciate customer service. Word of mouth goes a long way!

I was rather excited to try this place out. I ordered the cajun fish and fries. The fish look like it was fried 5 times because the batter was so thick.

One of my barometer’s to gauge if a place is worthy is to try their burger… I tried the Bouche Burger here, b/c I was intrigued, call me crazy, by the jalapeño peanut butter topping… it was just messy, not good messy & the burger was not cooked as I had ordered it. My husband’s burger was cooked correctly. I’m very friendly to someone serving me food, being the child of a waitress, but our waitress barely looked at or acknowledged me unless she had to… she only really paid attention to my husband ?? They did have a decent beer selection & the overall atmosphere wasn’t terrible. Might try again with a different burger or different selection altogether just to give it one more chance.

The ultimate burger is delicious. Incredible mixture of flavors. Not your average fixins! Not huge, but huge in flavor.

Where to start… We had a reservation for a party of 10… When we went to check in… No reservation. Now, the service was über slow… The food was horrible and cold. All around a waste of about 3 hrs of my life. Without a doubt this was our last trip. The manager stopped by and took 10% off all of our bills. The worst part of it was this was a close friends B-Day dinner. Well done Hungry Owl!

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» is right on the money! I didn’t think it was that great and the server wasn’t very friendly, the food is super bland and obviously just some basic recipe they found online. Or at least it was when I was there. The food took forever and came out cold. The place is like a sports bar that’s obsessed with owls. Has a very franchise feel to it. Not great. Not horrible. Won’t go back, but I don’t want to discourage others from trying it on their own.

Had I reviewed this place on one of my first visits, I would have awarded four stars, but after a few more experiences, I honestly can’t recommend them. Yeah, the food is pretty good, but pricey for what you get in a glorified«owl-themed» sports bar. $ 12 for fish tacos at lunch sounds ok, unless you want the«gulf fish», which is a $ 5 up-charge. The flat bread pizzas are decent($ 10-$ 12), but no bleu cheese(crumbles OR dressing) for the buffalo chicken flat bread or salads? Are you kidding me? I can’t believe I’m the only one who likes bleu cheese with buffalo chicken. Our server, Lindsay, did a great job, but sadly she won’t have the chance to serve me(or my business associates) until they offer bleu cheese as an option.

came here not expecting much and was surprised by the nice clean dining room and fast service. I got the humongous burger and was slightly disappointed as it immediately fell apart. I have never been a fan of stuffed burger patties anyway. My wifeenjoyed a regular burger with BBQ sauce. I got a side of red beans which were nothing great. Bacon mac and cheese was good. I did like the beer selection and would love to stob by on a game day.

I had been here once before about a year and a half ago and really enjoyed it so I recommended my dad that we should go for lunch. We went during the day and it was dead. It seemed a bit odd seeing as how last time I went it was packed. As soon as I looked at the menu I felt uneasy, they had completely given it a new look and there were a few items that I noticed were missing. Last time I was here I told myself I would be back to try the gator hut they had taken it off the menu. Our waitress was decent but she had this attitude like she didnt want to serve us, one of the times she came to our table I had asked her for sauce on the side as she was walking away and turned away after like she was upset I made her come back. Every time had finished our requests she was already walking away like she was rushed even though she didnt have any other tables. Another thing I found wrong was that our straws hardly made it past the rim of the glass! This made it hard to drink the second half of my drink. However I will say the look of this place is dope but the theme of the owls was a bit of overkill for me. The dryer is annoying and sounds like construction is going on, seriously its that bad! Now for the food, I ordered a regular burger which was good but nothing special. My dad ordered barbeque wings which turned out to be good. He also ordered a burger but had the same result as me. I also ordered the Creole 87 which is gumbo with conecuh sausage. dismal at best. It had no hint of cajun in it all I tasted was tomato. My dad wanted a steak and they even have a picture of a steak on the front cover of the menus but when you look inside, no menu! very dissapointing. The saving grace here was the bourbon bbq sauce, its out of this world. Besides that I cant say much else on the positive side. My fries were gross and tasted like they had way too much grease in them. Sad to say I will not be returning here again.

I’m sorry to say my meal didn’t live up to the great reviews. I’d looked forward to it a long time. Service was extremely slow — it took approximately 30 minutes for my appetizer to arrive, and there were only two or three other diners at the time. But the real deal killer was the food. The beer-battered onion rings might have been good if they had not been burned, but I don’t think so. They smelled awful and tasted worse. The sauce was also odd — like tangy Thousand Island dressing. I love onion rings, but I ate two and left the rest on the table. I had the bacon cheeseburger, which was ok, and the mac and cheese which totally rocked. To be fair, I asked for my burger well-done, so I guess it’s to be expected that it was dry. It was a good size, just nothing special. I was mainly perplexed because they make a big deal out of using Conecuh sausage(which I also love), but if the burger or macaroni had ever been under the same roof with the sausage, it would surprise me. Maybe it’s just ground up really fine. The burger had an overpowering taste of onion, so that may have drowned the underlying flavor. I had the banana moon pie pudding for dessert. It was ok. Nothing to write home about and not much banana taste, but good. Final thoughts: The owl décor was really cute. The macaroni was fantastic. They seem to have a patio area for dog owners, which is cool. Would I return? Doubtful. My entire meal was a $ 47 disappointment. Please note: I did not make any complaints to the wait staff or manager. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. I hope everyone’s experience is better than mine.
