Had to pay $ 20 to get in for New Years and waited in line for at least 20 minutes only to find that there were zero seats available. After about an hour I found one chair but a manager told me I couldn’t sit where I was sitting which was outside the walkway near the bar. I asked if he could find me a chair and he walked away and sent his peon to take the chair away from me. This place was rude. They need to remodel and bring extra chairs for larger crowds. The women’s restroom was dark and dingy. Music was good but the TVs had this masking effect that ruined the videos.

With the ridiculous cover and drink prices why haven’t they remodeled in 40 years? Great place for 65+ swingers!

My g/f and I go to Croc’s every now and then for the old school music they play and because crowd is fun without alot of rowdiness, just a lot of fun loving people having a good time. The place itself is a little worn out and needs to be updated cosmetically, but it’s not too bad once the place is full and things are hopping. The crowd is pretty diverse and like I said there aren’t fights and you don’t feel like you have to watch your back or anything like that. Normally the music is more old school funk and 80’s Top 40. But this weekend it seemed there was more Country, Rock and Top 40 crap that I don’t like; more than in the times we’ve been there in the past. The old school funk and dance music is the reason we drive 50 miles to go there so I was a little pissed at the new, monotone, auto tune robot music they played. I have to endure listening to that crap all day at work, I don’t want to hear on the weekend. If it doesn’t have a funky beat I don’t like dancing to it. We were there for 4 hours and not one Prince, MJ, Motown, or Rick James song the whole time. How does that happen at an old school dance place? I didn’t mind the Rock music, but the Country and Top 40 turned me off big time. But, my g/f loved it so I didn’t mind too much at the end of the night. Also, the place is a little small and it’s almost impossible to get a table, lots of standing in between dancing. But the bartenders were on point and the wait wasn’t long at the bar. It was Halloween so lots of costumes and fun checking everybody out. We’ll be back, but not too many times more if they don’t play the old school stuff more.

Outstanding place for middle aged folks. I come and spend hours just people watching. I don’t even dance. Great music from back in the 70’s and 80’s.

Let me start off with the beer selection, terrible. No craft beer. I gave it two stars because the music is decent. As far as the atmosphere, not impressed. I went there for a friends birthday. They reserved a section and there was dried up vomit on the floor and on the seat we were sitting on. Who knows how long it had been there, they came and cleaned it, using a strong pine cleaner and at that point I was done. We all left after only an hour of arriving.

Used to be cool… nice to hang out with a wide variety of people… but the music is repetitive and boring and the bouncers are over the top pushy and aggressive considering the average age of people there is 45. haha. seriously tho, why are all thier bouncers sloppy 300#ers? and why do they let in some people wearing T shirts but not all? The owner really needs to call that bar rescue show. –Update— All of the staff seems to have their own Relationship Drama going on all of the time. My friend cant enter because she used to date a staff member who is now married to another staff member… insanely unprofessional… and this is the second friend of mine who had this problem with different waitress. Another friend was nearly assaulted by a bouncer for«eyeballing» a waitress the bouncer liked. The staff really treats the place like their personal social club. My friends and I are all 30 – 45 yo Backyard family BBQing Types. fairly mellow and very easy to get along with. The owner must be completely oblivious or just not care since the place will always be packed no matter what(even if it is with 70 year olds and friends of staff)

My family and some of my friends have been coming here for years. A variety of music. Variety of ages. Seems that this place is going downhill. We usually come for family birthdays, etc. throughout the years. We have decided to give it another go on Halloween. First off, we all think the Halloween costume contest is rigged!!! Best over all costume was a guy with an umbrella that had a few lights on it, he is a rain coat called«rainman». There were other costumes there that were obviously more original and BETTER! If the costumes are judged more so by the judges and not the crowd, might be better off. Besides, that’s what judges are for, to judge. The table we were sitting at, the table clothe was filthy! We were afraid to touch it! Ordering food or snacks?! Forget it! After two hours of waiting for our order, we were told it would be another 40 minutes?! For a Halloween party, it wasn’t all that packed, to the point of it taking 2 hours 40 minutes for snacks. We asked for a refund. As a group, we have all decided that we won’t be back. Sorry Crocodiles… We made the best of our last night coming to your establishment. That’s it for us. We will plan for some where else when it comes to our adult gatherings and or parties.

I probably would have never come here but this was apparently the back up place for our 10 year high school reunion. I have to say though, pushing my personal feelings aside, it wasn’t that bad for modesto. Management was great. They gave us a table. Music theme was 60s to now so it was a nice mix. The place is set up really neat too. Private seating sections, dance floor in the middle. Drinks were reasonably priced. It’s an interesting crowd… but I’m not looking for anything so yea. Very interesting. But like I said too everyone working was great.

I’m 21 and know every single song that’s been played on the old school music weekends. I swear to God, I was born in the wrong era. 5 stars because of the music and the drinks are really good and the environment is super chill, unlike other clubs that have creepy older guys hanging on you. Security is super chill and I just adore the casual vibe from others!

I recently moved to the valley and this was my first foray into the bar scene. I had heard about this place and went there to check it out during one of their«party«nights. I arrived at 9 and the place was already packed. I stayed for over three hours to really experience it. This place is neither a dive bar nor a hip urban nightclub. If you are looking for either you will be disappointed. The crowd is definitely 30 – 60 years old and runs the gambit of characters. The music was good current music mixed in with older music. The drinks were good, with bartenders attentive. I liked the atmosphere. It was fun but relaxed. I liked that people weren’t there to get drunk and start trouble. I felt safe, and was able to have fun dancing the night away with multiple people. I don’t hook up with people from bars, but had I wanted to I’m pretty sure I could have snagged a gal. Definitely want to go there on a different night to see a more normal crowd, but had a blast!

This place is weird. Like a highschool dance from an episode of Saved By The Bell meets the nightclubs from GTA: Vice City. Inability for the barstaff to make pretty simple cocktails aside, the drinks were pretty cheap, and the overall kitsch played out for an overall decent evening.

This place is great. I don’t really know of any other place that has oldies, disco, an rock music. I never had to wait on my drinks the bartender got right on it. The party gets started here early too like at 730 it gets wild here. They even have pool tables an the dance floor is perfect.

So after reading all of the reviews for this place I was a bit apprehensive to go, but last night I came here for my 25th birthday with two of my close friends, and we had a BLAST!!! Yes it is like going to a wedding reception, they play all kinds of music and there is a DJ. The decorations are super tacky, but awesome! It was so much fun! If you go before 8:30 there is no cover charge and it is happy hour! SO going early is a way to avoid spending more money. The service was awesome! The bartenders were super nice and so were the waiters. My friends and I were seated at a table and our waiter took care of us the whole night and kept coming back to re fill our water. It was just really cool to see such awesome service! Something you would not get at most clubs. This place is also super awesome because there are so many different types of people, of all different ages and races. You can just feel comfortable and be yourself here . SO if you and your friends are looking for a place to dance and just have fun and be your self, this is the right place. Probably not where you might want to go if your 21, single and looking for girls. But it is a great time! You don’t have to be super fancy, its pretty laid back and it is so much fun! Will definitely be going back!

Came back here 3 years later on a 2nd visit after attending a dinner party with my sister and her co-workers. My first time was when my friend’s parents decided to take her and I dancing for my friends 21st birthday. Her parents wanted to take her out to her first nightclub. Awww! NOT! I didn’t want to be rude and say no, so I went along. They drove a block away from their house – seriously– and ended up in a shopping center off Briggsmore. Judging from the people going in and out, I prayed I wouldn’t get seen by someone I know. There were old men in cowboy hats, old women dressed country sleazy, serious people in business suits, and out of place young people who seem to either come celebrate an older persons birthday party or come for laughs. On my 2nd visit, we came for the latter. We had fun people-watching and getting on the dance floor when songs that we knew came on. It is a mixed crowd of ages and ethnicity. I didn’t want to laugh too hard at people. Because honestly, I can see myself being a regular here in 20 years lol.

This place was a total trip… Imagine your high school prom, but instead of sneaking a flask in — there is a bar! Yeah i think that’s a good way to picture it… We had a blast! We were with a birthday party and had called ahead for 2 tables together, they have cocktail servers coming around frequently, so if you don’t feel like dancing and just want to people watch you can just stay cozy in your seat and the rum and cokes will come to you! OH almost forgot: CASHONLY, made that mistake and had to find an ATM before we went in… Bottom line: The place is a lot of fun, don’t take it too seriously, just smile and have a good time.

My first time to Crocodiles was over a year ago during the winter time & I had no idea what to expect as I was really suprised to find it located in the middle of a shopping center. At first glance your met at the double doors by some very professional yet sexy bouncers who are very polite yet make you feel quite safe which is always an added bonus. Once inside the doors your greeted by the most friendly coat check woman who it comes to find out is the mother of the lead bouncer ;) An added benefit. Although you don’t have to pay for it we always tip her a few bucks as she provides for us an invaluable service: The ability to dance all night without trying to hold our lip gloss, cigarette case & lighter or or phones. And every 30 minutes or so we return to her for our lip gloss or to use our phone and back out on the floor we go hands free. ONE huge point for me here is that on Saturdays as well as Fridays up until 8:30pm its no-cover charge. HOWEVER, if you go after then its $ 10 a person. Something that the coat check queen that we love so much shared with us is that if you arrive prior to 830pm on those two nights and get your arm ‘stamped’ you can turn right back around and leave then return later in the evening like we do at around 11pm and enter for free. HUGE savings and lets ya enjoy an extra drink or three at the belOved baR OR paritally pays for a cab ride home. We’ve also found that the MUSIC which is the only reason we go for is provided by the same DJ each week… AND that during the hours of say 11 – 1 he spiNs our preference the most: Current hip hop/rap with a mixture of some really great 70 – 80’s… We’re pretty frequent flyers there now hitting it about once to twice a month and so far for Modesto I’ve found it to be the most consist place to dance and quite frankly the only one for the city of Modesto. Have fun!

While the other reviews are a decent synopsis of this place, I thought it deserved a little more credit. When I first walked in I thought«What in the hell is this!» but once I got over the initial shock I ended up having an absolute blast. I think the best thing about Crocodiles was it’s and the people there’s lack of pretentiousness. Everyone there seemed to be very friendly and not the least bit concerned about how you danced, «who» you were wearing or why you were there. This created an atmosphere to just be yourself, whether that was as a 70 y.o. grandma or a 22 y.o. goth chick(I saw both). I ended up having a wonderful time and even told a few of my family members that it we should all go sometime because I think we would have so much fun.
