I haven’t been here in a while, maybe a year or so. The last time I came here, it made my stomach upset for a day. Yesterday after feeling like getting some sushi, I wanted to go yo fuji sushi in elk grove, however did not want to drive. I went during their lunch hours. The sushi is decent, not great. The rice on the rolls are somewhat hard and their selection for lunch is very little. After finishing up, I went to the buffet section and got some fruits. I got a few oranges and some melons. On one of the few oranges I picked up, it had a dead roach on it. Looks like it might of been on it for a night or so. I did not want to make a scene or cause a commotion, so I just paid and left. Ate here on 6÷27÷16

Great sushi for the price — you get what you pay for! Very friendly staff, including the sushi chefs. I’ve been a few times, always looks clean & restrooms tidy.

I like the boat concept its cool… the problem I see with that is that the food sits for a long time. And trust me you can taste it! Be cautious 20 bucks a person for dinner you should get fresh food. I usually go to all you can eat sushi bars pay 25 to 27 bucks and get really tasteful sushi… They have combos but the food still did not taste fresh.

All I can say is that it puts the Sushi House Buffet to shame here in Stockton. Yes they have less variety of sushi but its QUALITY sushi. They take pride in their work and it truly shows. This is my go to place whenever I go to Modesto.

This place was so terrible I’m not sure where to begin. We had never been there and the hostess sat us down at a broken booth and just stared at us. Her crappy English explained that we could eat the buffet but not the buffet with the sushi boats because the bar was full. Okay… So we ordered rolls and checked out the buffet. ITWASSOGROSS. The food was cold/old. The crawfish wasn’t properly cleaned. The chow mein noodles were thick and greasy. When our rolls did come, they tasted gummy and bland. Imagine how mad I was when I saw other people sitting in booths like us grabbing sushi from a the sushi bar. I asked for a box and the same lady tells me it’s a 2 $ charge… For rolls I ordered and paid for. I said fine and left. Will never be back. Waste of money and I got food poisoning. If I could give 0 stars I would. Avoid this place like the plague.

Came here Sunday after blue berry and cherry picking with my old lady. I was Amaze when I walk in how can the city of Modesto have something like this and we in the big city San Francisco can’t even come up with good eatery with good service. To tell you alll the truth for what we pay and what we got to eat I think if they were to open one up nest to Moon star and Kome both of these place will quickly close down. Price rise this is really cheap for what they serve. Is only 13.99 all day Sunday and 10.99 Lunch Monday to Saturday 16.99 Diner Monday to Saturday. they pretty much have alot of selection but the best part is you can order what ever sushi u want of the menu or u can just grab them the the sushi bar as the put on a little boat that goes around the bar and u can just grab them and they make them right away as the sushi chefs see which one need to make. Also they have the Mongolian station where u grab what ever veggies or meat or seafood you like than they can cook it for you right away. For the Hot food they have a few such as Fried rice, Steam rice, bake Basa fillet, orange chhicke, egg roll, walnut shrimp mongolian beef, sze chuan chicken, king crab, dungeoness crab, blue crab, claims, Baked mussel, steam pork bun, meat balls, yee mein, variety of dessert fruits cakes puddings ETCETC, This is what I can remember. The sushi bar is a 6 person operation constantly making sushi to fill the boats. and also make the menu order sushi as well. Sushi quality rice the seafood is pretty fresh and just the right thickness of the tuna and you all know some restaurant in San Francisco will cut u a big ass piece just to make u all think good sushi well most of the people see big piece no matter how shitty it taste they will love it bcause is big piece. the sushi chefs are not the good with their skills yet because they don’t have the opportunity to really work for a japanese sushi restaurant where they can master the art of making sushi. learn how to really use the knife to cut the fish at what angle and actural thickness. This is probably the only thing that is seperating them from our the shitty chefs here in Frisco. This will be my place to go to after blue berry and cherry picking from now on I willl mostly try out all there restaurant because I am running out of patient for Frisco restaurant well as u go one day and the meal is excellent than u go back it taste like shit. I’ll travel to LA if I have to to get a decent meal. Service wise Is really good service that these people are providing. server comes back to check on you to refill your soda and ask do you want to order more sushi from the menu. And make sure u finish what ever is on your plate because they will not waste any good food and they will charge u see that happen. I think this is right what they are doing because here in Frisco I see alot of the asian people and there families with kids especially kids they grab a whole bunch of items like is the end of the world and maybe if lucky take a half of a bite than leave it on the plate and go get more stuffs to me that is very rude and no discipline well how can they have if the parents is doing the same thing. Is just sad that you see people like them just because they own a few house they can do what they want like in China. Well if you all people are willing to drive to modesto you should check out this joint.

Yeah it’s nice to sit by the bar but if the food is going to taste like it’s been sitting there since they first open earlier and its dinner time, I have a problem with that. Also this guy sitting at booth wasn’t getting any attention from the servers and had to get up and ask at the bar to borrow a sauce from this family. Not very good hosts if you ask me. All you can eat can turn to do it all your self. The only time we noticed the presence of a waitress was when we came back from the buffet and our other plates were gone. We were waiting for someone to come so we can ask for more water. We got little attention at the bar, poor people that sat at a booth or table that afternoon. Thy had a tray of store bought cookies by the desserts so really I want to know what is made fresh that day and how long does it stay out or is it reused?

Went here for the first time with my boyfriend. The food is good but the rice is a little dry. I do wish that they had a wider selection of sushi to choose from. It is about $ 14 dollars all day Sundays and for kids they charge by age instead of height(which is what some places in the bay are starting to do). They have a cool seafood collection for the buffet(boiled crab legs, oysters, crawfish). When I came back with my family we noticed that a lady coughed around the crab legs and she didnt even bother to cover her mouth. Kinda grossed out because germs can travel up to five feet and she was all up in the crabs legs coughing while I was hella craving some crab legs, i kindly asked the a guy who works there(I didn’t get his name) if he can change it out for new ones and he happily said yes and apologized. Now this is an hour until closing time and most places would refuse because they«don’t want to waste food» but they happily made us a new batch. I will definitely be back.

The only reason it get’s 2 stars is because the staff is very friendly and other than sushi, there is choices of other stuff… I love sushi, I do not love their sushi… Everything that could go wrong with it, went wrong with it. The fish had no taste, The rice was dry, stale and tasted burned. It was a big let down, Fortunately it was cheap and they do have other stuff to pick from.

I was looking for rolls in Modesto. I was looking to fulfill a craving in Modesto. I was looking to do some cheap sushi in Modesto. I can go fancy. I can go cheap. I just want good… even good enough. That didn’t happen here. I really liked the people that ran the place. They’re nice and fairly attentive, however, this doesn’t translate to delicious. The hot food on the table is 10x better than the sushi boats. Unless you like rice sushi, rice hand rolls, rice and sauce. The food here is unsatisfying. However, I did not try their sashimi bowel, which is where I think they actually serve fish without the rice. Basically, I can’t recommend this place. I want a place that serves rice with sushi, not the other way around. So, my search continues in Modesto.

If you want to stuff it turkey style come here!!! They can custome order your roll preference. They have a menu can choose from. The buffet also has non sushi items like chow mein and fried rice with more Chinese options. No biggie. Really has no flavor. But the sushi bar is a big plus. non stop rolls sailing down, Yum !!! If you dont see something you want just tell the sushi chef what you’d like!

Do you love boats? Me too! Have you dreamt of becoming a fisherman? Yeah, neither have I. Boats are all cute and fun and stuff, but I’d hate to work all day in the hot sun, praying that I catch something good enough to put a roof over my head, and feed my family. I’d rather have someone else scale the fish and prepare the seafood for me, thus, I LOVE sushi! And what would be a more fun way to eat a variety of rolls, tempura, soy beans, and salads than picking and choosing what looks good to you off of boats floating on water?! You can’t top that! Wait, yes you can, you can make it all you can eat for around $ 10 per person for lunch, and add a a huge Chinese buffet, and a Mongolian barbecue, and ice cream and desserts and stuff… I really don’t get the poor reviews for this place, it’s a value AYCE restaurant with a buffet. I mean, who is really expecting Zagat rated food here? Most of the rolls are Cali rolls with imitation crab meat and different sauces or fish, or other stuff on top. This is a fun, value restaurant that is a blast to munch on mediocre food at. Perfect venue for children! Did I mention that the bill for the three of us was only 17?! We spend more than that at McDonalds! They charge the child’s age, and so the kids get fruit, rice, and jello from the buffet, and then they also get to try anything that looks good as it floats by! After all of that, you can hype them all up with the desserts and ice cream, and then walk across the parking lot to Rockin Jump for a fun way to burn off all of those calories, and energy, and tire the little people out to insure a really great night for you and the spouse! Maybe pick up a bottle of wine on the way home? Yes! What a lovely way to spend a day!

I decided to grab a «buffet box»(to go). You can buy either sushi or Chinese food, but not both in the buffet. My visit was a few weeks ago and I’m just finishing it, so maybe they’ve improved since I was there, but not from what I’ve heard from friends who have also gone in. recently. The selection was limited, the food was blah, flavorless and the selection limited! Now, I don’t expect most Chinese buffets to be 5 stars, but this barely made 1 star, and that’s only if you’re really hungry! The service was not extremely friendly… almost as if it was a bother for you to order a «buffet box», and it seemingly took forever for someone to come ring me up after I was finished. Overall, a very, very disappointing experience and I’m not likely to go back… unless I’m really, really hungry and not particular choosy on quality or good taste! I usually don’t post negative reviews and try to find the positive in everything but little positive to find here. Sorry Kobe Sushi, but major fail!

This place was good sushi wise, a lot of different kind. I loved that it was made right in front of you so you knew it was fresh. Our server tonight was very very kind and attentive which made the experience great. Only downside id have to say is pricing. And the Chinese food they had could use more flavor. But if you’re a big time sushi lover this is your place to stop. Warm sake was also pretty good if anyone is interested. Would come back.

The customer service was awesome and I loved the sushi, only downside was that when we got there we were told we only had 30 minutes to eat because it was going to be dinner soon and we arrived at lunch. Other than that I loved it.

This is a review from a vegetarian. Overall: That was okay. I left(very) full, I didn’t get sick, and I had a pretty nice time at the sushi bar. Is it silly that I felt like I didn’t know what was going on though?! I didn’t order anything from the chefs until I realized that without special order my dinner would be lacking. Then, after I ordered a couplea rolls, I saw a sign that said Sunday $ 13 buffet does not include special orders. Ooops. Maybe that’s why they didn’t give me a menu. Plenty of sushi boats going around with a fair variety. I took some items off the sushi boat(egg(tamago yaki), edamame, wakame). Many things looked fresh, many things looked stale, and although they were pretty consistently adding stuff, some of it was coming from their giant stash of pre-rolled rolls(say that five times fast). I also took some items from the Chinese buffet(veggie fried rice, beans, egg roll). And then I thought, «Meh. There has to be more than this.» So I got the attention of one of the sushi chefs and asked for a veggie roll. Soon, he returned with a plate that had about 8 slices of roll with avocado, inari, cucumber, tamago. One side had no sauce, so I asked for a side of spicy mayo, and the other side had sweet chili sauce. It was pretty good. Now that I knew I could order whatever I want, I thought I had been pretty dumb to waste my appetite with slightly-stale mediocre veggie boat food and Chinese Buffet. I ordered a deep fried roll with avocado, cream cheese, sweet potato, and cucumber. Mmmm. Should have started here. If I return, I will probably not sit at the sushi bar. I will sit at a table and only order sushi made-to-order. And I might try to save room for desert. It looked like they had a pretty good selection!
