If I could I would give this place negative stars. This is absolutely the worst place I have ever had food — if you want to call it that — in my life. The waitstaff was terrible and the food was absolutely garbage. I honestly feel like I’m about to throw up and I just left the restaurant. Do yourself a favor avoid this place — — avoid it like the plague because quite frankly being there is like eating the plague.

Stopped here on a whim; it was close and we were hungry. Mexican food sounded good. I was surprised to see a co-worker when we walked in; she was eating dinner here with her hubby and young son before picking up daughter at some local sports event. I got the stuffed poblano and my mate got a trio plate(enchilada, a few tacos and something else… I forget, LOL). It was typical home cooked Mexican food. I thought my poblano was a little firm, perhaps undercooked but it tasted OK. Two chicks at next table complained about something, they thought one dish was kind of burned so the waitress had another complete meal prepared for her which customer took home. That was impressive because it showed how much LA Café cares about servicing good food. The atmosphere was pretty typical, nothing impressive. It is not in a very nice plaza so people probably skip it… drive right by. I can’t say I would come back here often. But for the price and convenience, it was good enough.

Great breakfast specials. You get good food for a great price(if you order the specials). Service can be a bit slow so if you’re in a hurry might want to rethink, other than that we like this place.

Gouges on prices for mediocre food. They clearly do not care about business because I was there June 17 and they still have cinco de mayo decorations everywhere. I can see why it was empty when I was there minus the one person sitting at a booth. By the way they nickel and dime you, you can feed twice the amount of people with the same money at any other authentic or decent Mexican restaurant. The guy that claims it is authentic has no idea what Mexican food is because his picture includes a taco with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Real tacos have cilantro and onion served with a lime buddy. I’ve eaten at real Mexican restaurants that push a cart around making fresh guac for each table compliments of the house whilst at LA café I was charged $ 4 for guac and charged for chips as well when we ate there. I learned my lesson and will not return to be gouged again. Please avoid and hopefully a better run Mexican joint can move into town.

Authentic Mexican food. Good prices. The margaritas are made from a mix, but decent. Very friendly service. Not gourmet, but you are not paying gourmet prices.

Thought we would try their breakfast this morning. The food was actually pretty good. When they brought our food to the table she said I’ll be right back with your toast. She asked me if I wanted tortillas. I said yes and asked for more coffee. That was the last we saw of her. Never even got a bill. So we went to the register, she already had our bill in her hands. She said she was sorry for the poor service(understatement) but still charged us full price even though we did not get full meals. The manager was too busy to come out to talk to us. We have never walked out of restaurant without leaving a tip — until today. Terrible service and customer service.

This place is not good. At all. There was another location in New Lenox that burned down a few years ago, and my husband loved it. I found it to be ok Mexican food, but nothing special. The Mokena location was just awful. We came here as I had purchased a restaurant gift card for cheap, and husband wanted to try it out. We sat ourselves and the server took our drink orders fairly quickly. That’s where the fun stopped. After a while she took our dinner orders, and the food came out maybe 5 minutes later. Husband’s enchiladas were lukewarm. There was little to no sauce on top, and the sauce(I use this term loosely) that was there was crusty. Husband ordered 4 different enchiladas but was not able to differentiate as to what type of meat was in which. It all tasted so bland. I ordered two tacos ala carte, as well as a quesadilla. The ground beef/taco seasoning mixture I make at home was better than this. Tacos were served on two corn tortillas that they didn’t even bother to warm up. We got our check well after we had finished the meal, and high tailed it out of there. I’m honestly surprised this place is still in business, and that there were people eating there. Never again.

Worst mexican food I’ve had in Illinois. I ordered a coke, got a Pepsi. I ordered a chimichanga and it was a burrito with hunts tomato paste on top. I look out the window and it started to snow. The last part clearly was out of their control but the rest wasn’t, the waitress looked embarrassed every time she checked in on us and we didn’t even say anything, she knew how bad it was.

This place is actually very good. It seems like a ‘hole in the wall’ but its not. My family and I frequent it about once every 6 weeks or so. The food is very authentic and the place is clean. Would recommend to anyone. My kids are 11 and 13 and they love the food.
