Are you kidding me? Hamburgers that are on par with my son’s. Corned Beef Hash… truly #magical. This place rocks! Oh… and french fries… cooked to perfection. Crisp on oitside, soft in inside. Not one mushy fry in order. A TREATIN Mongaup Valley!

This spot is affordable and friendly. Sit at the counter and talk to the staff. They are good people. I ate three pancakes which were perfectly cooked and they melt the butter into the syrup for a nice touch. My girlfriend had an egg sandwich which was generous in its serving and tasty. With coffees the bill was only $ 12. Pretty nice for a quick bite to eat.

Janet’s cosmic planet is a very cute place on the side of 17 b in Monticello. On first impression this eclectic little place was fun for the kids although pretty busy for a Tuesday morning, and everything cooked to order the food came out petty quick and was very good. They do breakfast and lunch and looking forward to have lunch there many times.

So it’s 9 – 11 and I convinced Pilar to NOT go into the city today for work… just in case. As a treat, I decided to take her out to lunch, but not at one of our regular spots. This time we were going to try something new and Kozmic Kitchen immediately popped into mind. Zoomed by there so many times when it was Blanche’s and then when it went«Kozmic.» If I had to describe this eatery in two words… «Hippy Chic!» Yep, that just about covers it. Janet the owner and Marie the server complement each other very well and are the perfect hostesses. The food… the food was deeeeeelicious! Pilar started with an innovative soup which had Cabbage, Kielbasa and Potato as the main ingredients with other little bits mixed in, and even I, who despise cabbage, had to admit that it really was yummy. Rather«smoky» flavor. It was served with those little saltine crackers which I stole from Pilar and devoured as I was starving! She didn’t mind. For her main Pilar had a pair of fried eggs, home fries and something called Taylor Pork Roll. Neither of us has ever heard of this and flavor-wise it’s akin to SPAM but not as salty. Now I happen to love SPAM… SPAMMITYSPAM,(Sorry…felt a bit of Monty Python silliness coming on there,) which was a good thing as I had ordered the Galactic cheeseburger with bacon, but decided to substitute the Taylor Pork Roll for the bacon to see what it would taste like. I also ordered a side of Sweet Potato Fries which came sprinkled with what appeared to be sea salt. They didn’t name it GALACTIC for no reason. This burger was HUGE, cooked perfectly and to my specifications, and topped with all sorts of yummies in addition to the pork roll and it was finger lickin’ good! The Sweet Potato fries were crunchy, not one soggy fry in the bunch and the salt was a superb addition to the flavor. We enjoyed the meal and the company, Janet and Marie, two of the friendliest people running a very nice eatery. The place itself is festively decorated and yet seems to maintain a certain country kitchen feel about it which says«Sullivan County!» at it country best! Check it out when you have a chance. You’ll not regret it. Oh! Janet bakes too! Muffins and Cookies and stuff! There it is. Janet Planet’s Kozmic Kitchen 1028 Co Rd 117(Rt 17B) Mongaup Valley, NY12762 (845) 583‑5028 Facebook:

We stopped in for lunch recently and found the overall experience to be underwhelming. And, oddly, rather expensive. 2 seltzers for $ 5 bucks?, that’s nuts! My burger with fries cost $ 13 dollars. That’s about $ 4+ dollars more than other area restaurants and diners. The food was just okay as diner cuisine goes. Nothing special. Not memorable except for how mediocre the food was. There are other diners in the area with food that is far better. And less expensive.
