Not a great place to stay! We are traveling across many states(military move) and have pets so we are limited on hotels. The pet friendly room smelt terrible, looked awful and was the worst room we’ve stayed in!(4 different states and 4 different la quinta hotels). The curtains looked urine stained, the bedding looked terrible and dirty! We asked for a room near lots of parking because we have a truck towing a big trailer… Well they weren’t helpful or accommodating! got stuck in a shitty place with 2 twin beds. Worst stay of our whole trip!

My hubs is an active duty USMC officer. We were driving cross country with our 2 fur babies who are larger dogs.(A 185 lb Great Dane and a 70 lb Lab Mix.) Pet Friendly and reasonably priced! Free hot breakfast was delic and front desk staff very nice! Highly recommend!

While descending for landing into Monroe, Louisiana airport(transferred from Memphis all the way from SFO), I sat in a double row of seats and ask my neighborly passenger to my left — what is there to do here? He said, «it’s huntin season!‘ I looked around me and noticed I was the only«Almond Shaped Eyes» in the whole puddle jumper«American Eagle.» Have you ever had that feeling of «oops» and had your tummy go «brrrrrrk» that possibly you might be at the wrong place at the wrong time? Yikes — it was a bit awkward, scary but also my gut feeling told me at that time — «Edwin, you have always had a sense of adventurous in you, use it, apply it and everything will be just fine!» I guess the way I would describe that feeling would be: «I am living, and I am really doing it too!» LOL — moving right a long(sidetracked) — so we landed safely and got to La Quinta, tired, hungry but in good spirits late that evening. Our room was very nice. It was long and narrow with two full size bed. It was clean. The a/c was working. They provided free WiFi. Sweet! The bathroom was actually larger than expected so that was a pleasant surprise. We were on the second floor so we didn’t hear all the banging noise that went on downstairs near the 24 hour restaurant. We did hear a few«moans and groans» behind our headboard though which I think it’s normal right? :p We stayed at this location for about 4 days for a show that was going on at the convention center. But I think the best part about this hotel was their friendly staff. From check in to asking extra towels, they were all so polite. We even ran into the cleaning staff and they suggested several places to eat for«authentic Cajun» with a few nearby clubs to retire for the evening with good solid drinks. That was so nice of them. This location of La Quinta I would say is in a shady part of town but heck — I grew up in San Francisco Tenderloin so this did not bother me a bit. We had an enjoyable stay here with you La Quinta and we would come back again.

La Quinta is ok for a budget hotel, and it seems to be one of the few reasonable places(in price) to stay at in the Monroe/West Monroe area. I frequented the hotel several times during 2010 and 2011 when I had friends living in the area. It is located in a quasi-sketchy part of town, but it is located right near I-20, the Pecanland Mall, and US-165, which serves most north/south traffic in eastern Monroe. They have been slowly, but surely upgrading the hotel, such as the doors and carpet, but some aspects, like the bathroom, show a lot of age. The TV selection is very skimpy, as there is only HBO, a few cable channels, and some of the local stations(affiliates for Fox, ABC, CBS, and NBC, not CW, religious programming, or any other local channel). If one stays here, they should recommend a room on the northern side of the hotel, as those on the southern side have to listen to rail traffic, as the nearby railroad gets plenty of use.

I’ve been traveling across the southern states for the past several weeks — staying in budget hotels all the way. This was by far the worst stay yet. Had I stayed only during the week, I would have given a much better rating since the room was inexpensive relative to others nearby, clean, had a nice new flatscreen TV. I had no issues there and totally recommend for a weekday stay, but the weekend brought with it lack of sleep. The place seems to be in a sketchy area of town and not that it is entirely the hotels fault, but the clientele on the weekends were totally inconsiderate. Friday night I had kids playing tag throughout the corridors until 11:30, then followed by obnoxious adults coming and going at all hours of the night, cars blaring music, trash left on the grounds/parking lot, etc. Again, its not the hotels fault that people behave badly, but maybe some security on grounds would help the situation. Stay during the week, otherwise reconsider.

It’s a pretty good hotel. Not great. But clean. In a semi-decent part of town. Always a lot of kids running around though, so not very quiet. Whereas the hotel is completely affordable for me, and allows my dog to travel with me, I won’t be staying here anymore for ethical and personal boycott reasons.

Wish there were a fridge and microwave in the room, but otherwise it’s quite nice. The free Wi-Fi worked great.
