Massage Envy Spa – Monroe

Terrible place to get a massage. Customer service is worse at the desk. First question is if I’m a member or not. That determines if there is a spot available for me or not. No wonder they have to advertise to get customers. Nobody sticks around.
Recommendation: anywhere else is better

I booked an appointment for my boyfriends birthday only for them to cancel and say «there’s nothing we can do» which left me gift less on his birthday. It was so unprofessional of them and I will never call again.

I was scheduled for an introductory massage but I also added on the Deep Tissue therapy. When I scheduled my massage, I asked if there was a scalp massage add on I could add. I was informed that scalp massage was part of the massage and it was not necessary. So I went in on 3÷7÷15, spoke to the message therapist who explained my visit would be 50 minutes (last I checked my massage was for an hour). I brushed it off and she asked what my area of focus was. I told her shoulders, back and arms (I have tendinitis in my arms so I was looking forward to it). She suggested doing only upper body and I agreed. She stepped out, and I stripped off my top and bra, got in the bed and waited for her to return. I waited 10 minutes. It is now 3:13. She entered and began massaging my back and neck. When she was done she told me I was all set. I looked at the clock and it was 3:55. My scalp wasn’t massaged, my arms weren’t touched and I did not get deep tissue therapy I requested. I visit spas 2x a month and expected better. I understand it was only $ 59.99 but if your offering something that I asked for and was willing to pay extra for, I should have gotten it. Secondly, my massage therapist should have listened. My arms weren’t touched at all. I will never be back here.

i have been a massage envy customer since february 2008. originally i lived in staten island new york and the better 5 &½ years of my membership was spent at the staten island location. they have excellent massage therapists and a fantastic front desk staff. then after a move two years ago i switched my membership to the monroe location in the summer of 2013. MISTAKE! i should have just cancelled my membership as opposed to putting up with the crap from the mindless barbie dolls that work the front desk at monroe. in the transfer they «misplaced» my 7 accrued sessions i didnt have time to use with all of the confusion of moving. members know those sessions are supposed to roll over and follow you anywhere. they were able to fix that error but in the last year and a half have bothered me with problems they have had on their end with charging my card 3 times. now, with a new baby on the way i decided to cut corners a little and cancel my massage envy membership. thank goodness i got a copy of the membership cancellation request form because one of the girls at the front desk (the same that filled out the details on the form and scheduled my final sessions) said that today’s session, my second to last, was not covered and i would have to pay out of pocket. apparently the information she gave me last time was incorrect and then she asked me who told me this information as though instead of making right with the customer she was going to turf the blame to someone else. fortunately i have my copy of the cancellation form and am awaiting a call from the manager to clear up this error. regardless this entire situation is absurd and once i hear back from the manager i fully intend to contact corporate about the way this franchise is run. they give massage envy a bad name and if i didnt know based on previous experience at another location i would assume that all of massage envy locations are as much of a nightmare to be a member of. the 2 stars that i have given this location are entirely for the massage therapists angela and brenna. they are capable of giving an excellent deep tissue massage and are very good at focusing on muscular problems they encounter on their clients.

Went with my sweetheart for my first ever massage. Had a tremendously great experience and I highly recommend this place.

There are some therapist that are really great however, they advertise a hour massage but its really 45 minutes since they have you wait a couple of minutes to get you for your scheduled appt, then they give you 5 minutes to undress and they finish 5 minutes before the hour is due so that you can get dressed. Also, should you miss an appt, they charge you the full price even if they do not make the proper attempts to contact you as part of the reminder services.

Ariel was my therapist and she had really strong hands which was great. She really loosened up some trouble spots. Only part that I was not thrilled about was when I initially scheduled my appointment, I asked for 90 minutes, but the lady said she was not available. After I left, I made a phone call and when I drove away, she was outside smoking a cigarette. I will chalk it up to a possible cancelled appointment.
