R.I.P. Point 40 Diner. New management has taken over, and not for the better. I have been ordering onions with my home-fries for 20 years, no problem, today I got charged 50 cents extra. My husband also got his first dried out egg’s Benedict ever here. Are the cooks and waitresses fleeing the sinking ship? They also upped all of their prices across the the board! I hate it when someone new comes in and changes everything immediately, like they’re the smartest guy in the room. So sad, so sad.

This used to be our diner of choice until about a year ago. I feel like the service has declined greatly and the food is typical diner food. Very average diner. Nothing to brag or complain about.

Sorry, but I disagree with other people here. Girlfriend and I both thought the food here was good. In the category of good diner food. WE loved the cabbage soup. The turkey club was great. She had a patty melt and loved it. The food here is better than your ordinary diner.

Sometimes, its the little things about a restaurant that stick out, and point 40 is no exception. Food is always good, same with the service, but what really has me going back is the full sized coffee cups. It lowers distraction from refills while conversating, and i didnt even notice how great that was till after my first experience with it. Ive been back multiple times, never dissapointed.

A few years ago I would have given this place four or five stars, but the last few times I have been there the staff has not been very good. The dinners are good, but when the service is poor, it ruins the whole meal. They rush you, too. Not that I am lingering, but let me swallow my dinner before asking me if I am ready to order dessert.

People in jersey don’t like surprises with their food. This place should please most of those people. Nothing to write home about with this place. Typical jersey diner. Reasonably priced food in a 50’s built and never remolded place. Got the turkey salad. See pic.

Needed food. This was the first place we saw. The food’s just your average, run of the mill in-the-middle-of-nowhere diner. They have food if you need anything to eat.

Stopped in with the family as we were coming back from the shore. Breakfast was average, at best. Ordered a western omelet, what I got was an over cooked, dried out slab of egg loaf that was laden with a few pieces of pepper, onion, and ham. No where near what an omelet should be. Their«home fries» were over cooked scalloped potatoes.(WHY do all these diners have such a problem preparing and cooking proper, correct, home fries!!!) The bacon was ice cold and dried out, I suspect because it was sitting around all day. The service was friendly and fast, but the food left ALOT to be desired. My wife and kids were not too impressed with their meals either. The Point 40 Diner really needs to step it up.

Great place to stop on the way to the beach if you are not from around here. We went on a Sunday for lunch and it seemed like everyone knew each other. Young families. Older couples and friends. A typical country piece of Americana of the friendliest kind. The portions were huge and everything tastes home-cooked. The chicken pot pie special was very tasty. So was the open faced Reuben and quick steak sandwich. Even our always hungry teenager couldn’t finish it all. Fast and very friendly service. Support a great local business and eat a delicious meal here rather spending the same amount of money on junk food at a chain restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for 20 years. The only thing I order is the Mini-meal #15, Chicken Parm/side spaghetti(linguini). It’s a big Portion of each; slightly tangy sauce-Excellent! For the money, about $ 9.50, unbeatable! Also, their cornbread is the best I’ve ever had.

I come here alot for business meetings. The food is fine and the service is as expected. The building needs a little updating but it does not retract from the level of service you get or the size of the portions. I recommend it as a mid level alternative to fine dining.

My idea of what is stereotypical of the New Jersey culinary scene is the diner experience. Great diners like«Point 40» are the reason why! A quick Google search for«Best South Jersey Diners» led me to several recommendations for Point 40. I visited with my parents and was initially nearly overwhelmed by the large selection provided on the menu. If you desire to eat it, it’s likely that Point 40 offers it. The time of my visit was«brunch» for D.C. types so I ordered a steak and eggs, and substituted cottage cheese for the potatoes recommended by the menu. I anticipated receiving a thin low-quality steak, but was instead served a thick, cooked-to-my-order choice cut of meat. I requested cheese on my scrambled eggs, and the slices of American were perfectly melted, fresh, and enhanced the taste of the eggs. The quality of food was great. The variety available was excellent, with a menu unlike any readily available to me in D.C. Also, the facility was clean and welcoming. The ride through the open southern area that lends Jersey its«Garden State» label only added to the enjoyable experience. My parents may disagree but, to me, visiting a diner is a requirement of any trip to Jersey. If you agree, the one I recommend enjoying is Point 40.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner on our way to Wildwood. The service was great and the food was yummy. We are foodies and were truly surprised how good the simple diner food was. My husbands chicken parm mini meal was one of the best we’ve had outside of 4star Italian restaurants. We will absolutely come back… and if you like good and affordable food you will too.

As diner’s go this was average. We have tried just about every one between DC and Atlantic City, and it’s not our favorite so we will probably stick to the others next time.

Just what we wanted for dinner. Hit the spot right down to the chocolate pudding. Louie and Larry always make us feel welcome. Fried string beans are awesome!

Point 40 Diner is located on Route 77 at the Pole Tavern Circle. It is a popular diner for the locals. It serves slightly above average typical diner meals. Service is usually fast and friendly. They offer daily dinner and breakfast specials.
