Closed. Perhaps permanently They closed their doors for the New Years holiday around 12/29/2014 and haven’t been open since. They have a sign on the window since Jan 2015 that says«closed for remodeling». The doors haven’t been opened, there is no active remodeling, and no one has been spotted inside for months. We are within walking distance so we pass by the place several times a week. We’d give the place 4 stars if it was actually open. We loved the place.

Create your own pizza. I’ve proudly eaten here over 30 times. Choose as many toppings as you want for a fixed price $ 7.50. They build the pizza right in front of you, pick your base sauce, marinara, pesto, or garlic butter. Then let the toppings roll! Frackin bacon jelly! You can get a beer, wine or tasty basil lemonade with your pizza. They offer a dessert smores pizza with Nutella and marshmallows. Whoa

I been knowing about FlamZZ pizza for quite some time now. I have tried many other pizza locations where you create your own pizza. But in the end I always choose Flamezz pizza in Monrovia or Pasadena. What truly fascinates me is the variety of toppings I get to choose from. My pizza always tastes great I always come up with something creative. My boyfriend and I usually eat here on Saturdays. We always get a pizza to share with salad a nice cold beer and you can’t forget dessert. The chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top is very delicious. The staff is young and friendly and energetic. The price for your pizza is only $ 7.50 and you can share it. It’s completely affordable and satisfying.

My ultimate favorite pizza place! The service is always great. the pizza is just the way I like it! And the price is great! Have not even stepped into another pizza place since they opened! Keep up the fantastic job. So many choices and everything is fresh and they make it right in front of you so you can ask for more! They have delicious lemonade(homemade) you never see that. Going tonight!

The pizza didn’t take three minutes and there was flies all over the place. My husband saw one in the artichokes the girl had to take it to the back. I asked him he hit the artichoke said no but they are flying all over the place. I had the make it yourself pizza. I ate about half and I was full. It comes out hot so I liked that a lot but then it is kind of burnt in the ends and I don’t like that smell not taste. Other than that it was good. My husband did the same and tried the bacon jelly. That was pretty good we both loves the roasts garlic. We don’t drink soda and the water cup was too small really like 6 ounces and three sips. Too many trips to the soda fountain to refill. Oh one more thing they have two little things for water one is regular and the other is soda water. It was good and we will be back but I’ll try the other one in Pasadena next time. Update of review: The girl making the pizza never changed her gloves from pizza to pizza. Umm I wonder if now that’s why I have a tummy ache and I am burping up the pizza 3 hours later… Also I am allergic to jalapeños did someone get them before me? Or the bacon jelly which has jalapeño in them??? She put her fingers to get some of that for hubby’s half of his pizza…

Nice little option in this neighborhood. They are extremely friendly and helpful to new customers. All in all is an OK place. I think this type of restaurant is now starting to pop up with a number of larger«chain type» ones coming on board. Great idea, that is going to get quickly oversaturated like the Gourmet you name it burger craze. Their toppings options are really good and they have a good number to choose from. don’t be scared of by «bacon jelly»… LOL, it sounds funky but is actually really good. Most of the pizza options are really very good and the crust is nice. Overall though the flavors were ok, nothing over the top special. I would go in if I was jonesing for a little self designed pizza, but probably not a place you are going to travel from afar to get to. Hope they make it as they really were incredibly customer supportive.

Friendly staff that brings the pizza to you at your table. $ 3 beer and I simply love how crunchy the pizza dough is. This is def a good alternative to Blaze Pizza without a wait!

As many have previously reviewed, this place is a pizzeria that also serves beer. I haven’t been able to order a pizza and a pitcher of beer, but it is on my list of things to do. The pizza was really good and I appreciated the idea of making your own pizza with the toppings they have available. The crust is very thin and I enjoyed that because it allowed the toppings to be well tasted. We had the Carnivore and the Bianca. I can’t wait to try some of the other styles because I really enjoyed the Carnivore as a meat lover and my fiancé really enjoyed the Bianca. I can’t wait to try all of the other pizza’s! Wasn’t brave enough for the suicide my first time, but will be trying that soon. Hope this place gets more recognition because I love the idea and the execution is great!

Was up in Monrovia for a couple of days with friends checking out the City of Hope Hospital and was craving pizza one night. We of course Unilocaled it and Flamzz is what came up. We quickly hopped in the car since there was about 45 minutes before they closed but unfortunately, we drove by there and they were already closed. We found out from the manager that they closed early the night before since business was so slow… oh well. Anyway, we did make it there for lunch the next day and really liked the concept of the place. It’s similar to ordering a sammy at places like Subway and Blimpies, you stand behind a glass counter/case and choose what toppings you want on your pie. They slide it into the oven and out it comes in a few short minutes. Pretty cool. The pies are thin crust and they have quite a bit of toppings, cheeses, and sauces to choose from and it can be daunting if there are hungry people behind you waiting to order and you’re there for the first time carefully plotting your perfect pie. They also have a pizza menu if you don’t want to have to choose your own toppings like a bianca(Prosciutto crudo, arugula, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese and garlic oil) or the spicy Suicide Pie(Spicy sauce, bacon jelly, pepperoni, habanero chicken, jalapeños, red onions and mozzarella cheese.) You can always add extra items to these at no extra cost. I got the Suicide pie with arugula and goat cheese instead of mozz, it was delicious. One thing I found out later is you can order any amount of different toppings and it’ll still be the same price, a very good deal.

After discovering Pieology, I hoped for one to open near my home. Little did I know there was already one that opened earlier in 2014 under the name of Flamzz. Same concept of building your own custome pizza, same price, different name. Works for me. I won’t list every single ingredient we chose as our toppings(chances are, you won’t order the same thing) But I do have to say the crust is thin, crispy and did not get soggy even though I had fennel sausage & bacon jelly, which yields a lot of grease when heated in the oven(I had the soggy problem at 800 Degrees in Westwood) With all of the toppings combined, the flavor wasn’t bad, but I had a hard time tasting them individually. Example: the habanero chicken had no kick. We could not taste the fresh basil & cilantro, which ended up serving as garnish. The gorgonzola, which is supposed to have a strong potent flavor, could not be detected. The one thing I did taste is also the one thing that I picked off the pie: caramelized onions… it does not go well w/salty or spicy meats. These shortcomings could have been easily fixed by me asking for more, but being my first time there, I let them make it their way, and adjust as needed in the future. The guy who made my pie was great. The décor is plain compared to Pieology There are 4 flatscreens on the wall, which played the World Cup while we were there and the dining areas are separated into two section, with the restrooms in the middle. Overall, it was a decent experience, and I could have picked better topping combinations to make the pizza taste much better. Since Flamzz is so close to home, I see myself going back to experiment, and hopefully to give them a 4 or 5 star rating.

A couple months ago, I was looking for a vegan friendly place in Monrovia to take one of my coworkers and Flamzz surprisingly popped up during my search. LOCATION: They are located east of Myrtle Avenue at the corner of Colorado & Ivy Avenue.(Same street as Big Shrimp, Merengue & Café LuMar). If you are familiar with the area, the spot used to be Enrique’s Tamales and then Loteria Cantina & Grill. OWNER: I always think it’s important to chat with the owner if they are present. If gives you a better insight and the vision of the restaurant. Jose Moctezuma is a local and the owner of Loteria and also owns Flamzz. In February 2014, he renovated Loteria Cantina into a spacious and modern pizza establishment with cement floors and brightly painted walls. If you liked Loteria’s food… fear not! It supposed to reopen at another location in Old Town. Moctezuma said he has connected with Monrovia, donating to youth programs, local schools, and churches, and in turn, is hopeful the community of Monrovia will continue to support him. INSIDEINFO: If you are wondering why there are two«Z“s at the end of «Flamzz», it’s because one of the investors has two children whose names both start with«Z». They offer Gluten-Free dough(additional $ 2) and Vegan Cheese(additional $ 1.50). Their pizzas are $ 7.50 which is the same price Pieology charges. Flamzz first opened in Monrovia and just recently opened a second location in Pasadena(right across from PCC). I’m been to Pieology and I know Blaze is opening up by the Pavillions(Foothill & Myrtle). I really enjoyed my time at Flamzz because: ================================ #1 they are a local business #2 they encourage their staff to talk with the customers #3 they are heavily involved in the community(especially local schools) #4 bacon jelly #5 their Crafted lemonades are awesome(pink lemonade had rosemary & yellow had mint) #6 the owner is very friendly & nice(referring to Jose Moctezuma) #7 they have fresh ingredients and lots of toppings(e.g. Pesto sauce, Goat cheese, Mango habanero chicken, artichokes, Pappadew peppers) #8 they have Pazooki #9 they have salads(I made it MYWAY or Side Salad) #10 they are close to my work To date, I’ve tried the BBQ Chicken Pizza(Barbeque sauce, grilled chicken, red onions, cilantro, and choice of cheese) and the Flamzz Pie(Bacon jelly, red onions, cherry tomatoes, arugula, garlic oil and mozzarella cheese). I enjoyed both pizzas and the serving is actually too big for me to finish. I usually end up with 3 slices leftover that I need to box up. I came here with my friend today at lunch and the place was pretty busy. My pizza came out pretty fast and they brought it to our table. If you’re wondering what the heck Bacon Jelly is… it’s basically like a marmalade with bacon and chipotle. I commented that I felt a bit of heat in my mouth and realized it was from the Bacon Jelly. They also offer beer here and Happy Hour every day as well as Family Nights(Sunday & Monday from 5PM where you can get 4 pizzas for $ 25). Great addition to Old Town and I will be back again. :) 115⁄100 Reviews for 2014

I was really excited to try Flamzz, since I liked Blaze but we didn’t want to drive as far. Flamzz is up the street from my aunt, so we decided to try it tonight. Walking in, there was only one couple eating. That should have tipped us off on a Saturday night! TLDR: The owner cut in line to make a «creation» and then an employee put her bare hands all over my uncooked pizza and got an attitude about it. So we order. My aunt goes first and they make her food. Then while the employees were making my first pizza, the owner cuts in before they can make my second one.(I’m assuming he’s the owner because he’s not in uniform?) He starts bragging about some pear pizza he’s making and wants the girls to try it when he’s done. Meanwhile, a girl took a phone call about whether they’d be open on Mother’s Day. As she reenacts the conversation to the employees, she’s playing with her hair. I try not to cringe. Btw, I ordered the Flamzz pie, which has bacon«jelly». No. This stuff was ground up bacon, which she was crumbling like sausage. It was definitely not a jelly-like consistency. My aunt’s pizzas go in the oven, while mine are sitting on the ledge, ready to go in. The owner cuts in line again, putting his creation into the oven on its own. Meanwhile, mine are sitting on the ledge, getting hot from the nearby fire. Another employee tries to put my first pizza in the oven. It won’t come off the wooden board without a fight. He’s able to get it into the oven, but has to use another board to put it back into somewhat of a circle shape. Annoying, but not a big deal. It’s not hard, especially as the owner of a PIZZA shop, to grasp that dough gets sticky when it’s first exposed to heat. Had my pizzas not been sitting on the ledge of an oven while he played chef, they wouldn’t have been stuck to the board. By then, my second pizza has started to cook on the board and there’s no getting it off. He shows a female employee. She responds by picking up my pizza with her BAREHANDS, prying it off the board and then trying to pat it back into a circular shape. I asked if it was mine and demanded a refund, not wanting a pizza that someone’s bare hands have been all over. The employees insist they can make me a new one, which will only take three to four minutes. I insist on a refund for the uncooked pizza, no longer wanting to eat anything from their kitchen. The owner mutters to give me a credit back. No apologies, the owner doesn’t correct her, etc. Instead, a blond female employee responds by getting an attitude, claiming that the other girl had just washed her hands. My aunt told them that it’s currently against the law to handle food without gloves, to which they argued that it’s not. Actually, it is! I’m a certified food handler, so I should know! Certain groups are trying to appeal it, but it’s currently a law on the books. After we get home, we were left with a margherita and a make-your-own with sausage. The red sauce was disgusting! It had a weird tang to it, which left a horrible aftertaste. The edges of the pizza were burnt, while the middle was doughy and raw. For $ 7.50 for a small pizza, we’re totally not going back!

This place is legit. They are better than 800 degrees and Blaze and all the other Chipotle-like pizza restaurants for a number of reasons. First off, their pizzas don’t get soggy even though they’re baked in such high heat for such a short amount of time. Every pizza I’ve had at 800 degrees and Blaze comes out soggy. Yes, I do like to pack my pizza with tons of toppings, but Flamzz just knows how to cook it right without burning the crust or allowing the dough to get soggy in the middle. Second of all, their toppings are premium and fresh, and there are a lot more options. They have fresh mozzarella and and prosciutto and sundried tomato. Their pizzas are just as large, and cost $ 7.50 as opposed to Blaze, which costs $ 7.95. Their service is fantastic, and they explain where all the toppings come from, too. This location just opened and they’re new, so there’s some wet paint and the restaurant itself looks like it’s missing a few things. However, they do have enormous TV’s set up, and I can definitely see myself coming back.

I didn’t even get to try this place. I called at 830pm to verify the closing time because Unilocal said 10pm. The gentleman who answered said 10pm but they seat their last customer at 930. I asked about the menu and beer etc. So I said–«okay great! We’ll be there shortly!» He responded«okay.» We live very close by and at 8:42 I park and walk in and they are flipping chairs upside down to clean up etc and the girl says«sorry we’re closed.» I respond«oh– I just called and someone told me you were open until 930 – 10 and it was okay for me to come.» And she again said«we’re closed.» WOW. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Not very happy. So I can’t speak for the food — unfortunately. But the attitude wasn’t very friendly . Not going back to give them a try. Not worth it

I will become a regular here! My kids loved being able to see and pick their pizza toppings. All the pizzas are the same price regardless of the number of toppings. Only exception is vegetarian or gluten free dough. Taste is maybe 3.5÷4 stars but I’m giving the place 5 stars because of the great price and great service. They great everyone as you walk through the door. The pizza came out fast too… and the servers are so nice. Must save room for dessert pizza. Enough to share with 4 or 5 people for just five bucks! What a deal! Be warned… soooo sweet and sugary.

I first saw Flamzz listed on Unilocal’s new business openings and it totally caught my attention! Decided to give this place a try and ended up coming back within a week! Now I crave Flamzz at least once a week. FOOD You get your choice of a speciality pie or DIY pizza with unlimited toppings, both $ 7.50. There’s also add ons like $ 2 more for a gluten free crust. I often have to restrain myself from topping overload because everything looks so good! Seriously, their toppings are so fresh and diverse. You can add fancy things like artichoke, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella balls, or… their soon to infamous, homemade BACONJELLY. It’s made with chipotle peppers, which gives it a nice little kick. I was skeptical at first, and only told the girl to put a little on my pizza. Well, that was a mistake because it was BOMB! I’m going to ask them to smother my pizza in bacon jelly next time. I suggest you do the same. And finally, no pizza would be complete without the perfect thin, crispy crust. Hats off to Flamzz, you did well. Will come back.

First it was Enrique’s then it was Loteria and now it’s Flamzz! If you expect to get a crispier thin crust, not a soft and chewy one, go to Pieology or Blaze Fast Fired Pizza. Service here is all smiles and great overall– one of the main reasons I like this place, even if I wasn’t up for a soft and chewy crust that day. Pizza was good. The crust had more of a doughy taste to it and the cheese was generous. I liked the topping choices and even if I thought the taste of the pizza ok compared to both the other chains, I liked taking a break from those tastes and coming here. I customized my own pizza with mozzarella, Italian sausage(this was ok), red onion, mushroom and arugula. Since the crust here is chewy and not crispy, I think you can go heavy on your toppings and you’ll be fine. Time to experiment the next time I come here!

My husband LOVES the BBQ chicken pizza! He won’t stop talking about it. He says we have to go once a week now. I like the fact that we can each get our separate pizzas for a reasonable price($ 7.50). Because while the BBQ pizza smells amazing, I am on a diet! Speaking of– can anyone guesstimate how many calories would be in a cheese pizza with red sauce?

Yay for the new pizza place in town! They have just opened so give them a couple weeks to get their groove going. There were a couple things I could pick on, but at this point I won’t, and will just say that the service was fast and friendly and the pizzas were AMAZING: light, fresh, sizzling hot and flavorful. We had 10 people in our party and not one had any complaints. In fact, we all ordered one each and pretty much killed it :) You can either go with their menu or create your own — I’m sure you are aware of the concept. There are some awesome toppings and you can go crazy or stick with the classics. Just a tip: try adding some of the toppings after your pizza is taken out of the oven(like prosciutto, or pesto, or arugula, etc.) — SOGOOD! I think speedy service(pizzas are done in about 4 minutes) and reasonable price($ 7.50) make this place a great spot for work lunch or dinner pick-up or just a quick bite of Italian goodness. P. S. Drinks are a tad overpriced, but H2O is always an option.
