Bought their chocolate chip cookie last night at the oc fair. this was possibly the worst cookie I’ve ever had. it was dough with no sugar. ! how do bad cookies get a spot at the oc fair ?!

So I’ve never been to the location, but I’ve always bought cookies from their OC Fair booth every year. I love their chocolate chip oatmeal cookies! Because I’ve already chowed down on the 2 cookies I bought this year and am down to the bottom of the bag of their powdered wedding cookies, I was curious how far the bakery was from me in case I wanted to satisfy a craving off-season. I Googled them and went to their website and was pleased to see they take fax orders and will ship anywhere. Woohoo!!! So I decided to Unilocal them to see what the reviews said and if they offered other things besides cookies because the order form from the website does not have a listing of offerings. I also was curious to see what the bakery looked like in case I wanted to stop by instead. To my surprise, Unilocal has informed me that the location is closed. I blinked my eyes a couple of times because I could’ve sworn the labels on their cookies I bought from the booth listed this address. I even went so far as to check street view on Google Maps. Sure enough the building is empty. So why would they continue to use this address on their labeling? And why does their website still list this address? Seems kinda fishy. Docked 1 star for this. Too bad they’re no longer in business. Guess I’ll wait until the next OC Fair visit because I’m hesitant to use the order form. The rest of the stars are for the yummy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and the nice guy at the booth.

Picked up a snickerdoodle and a chocolate chip cookie at their booth at Village Venture in Claremont yesterday. They were the most disgusting and tasteless cookies I have ever experienced! Took two bites of the chocolate chip cookie and thew it in the garbage. Yuk!!! I hope that the rest of their food isn’t that bad!

Yikes! If you’re going to indulge yourself with a cookie or brownie you’re better off going anywhere but here. I tried the chocolate chip cookie and brownie. Both were dry, crumbly and seriously lacking any real sweetness and flavor making the desserts more of a punishment than an indulgence. After a few bites of each, they both went down the garbage disposal.

I love downtown Monrovia, it’s so different(gentrified) since I worked at Winemans Dept Store here in 1972. Across from what used to be a wonderfully old park, now marred by a new library stands a small Bakery(?) and sandwhich shop called Planet Cookies. It’s boasts one of the smallest menus I have ever seen, about 6 sandwiches, 2 soups and some breakfast items. It’s very small town and very pleasant, too pleasant. shut up take my order Im hungry! I ordered lentil soup and a hot Pepper beef on grilled rye with provolone and tomato The sandwhich came with homemade potato salad and homemade potato chips The fun stops here! No crackers for my soup ! W T F ? The homemade potato chips were not hot The potato salad was sour. was it German? Who knows… The sandwhich was uneven, parts were warm others were cold, the cheese didn’t melt and it too tasted sour, maybe it was sour dough who knows? Saving grace here was I needed WiFI and its free… well maybe not. Lunch here was $ 11.20 plus tip MERCIFULLYCLOSED,! I guess the 3 sandwhich option wasn’t really a good idea!

Picked up the driest sugar cookie i have ever had at the south pas farmers market. They looked so good but tasted so SO bad. It wasn’t sweet, just a blob of hardened dough. At $ 3 a cookie, I think not!

This review is based on their huge individually wrapped cookies. It’s as if they didn’t mix the dough and sugar fully and I tasted clumps of dough then some parts are sweet regular cookie dough. The cookies that include any type of vanilla/chocolate chips, there was not a good balance of dough to chip ratio. I felt like I was eating a lot of dough and wondered where the hell the chips were. The cookies side was dry and not moist, however the middle has a kind of chewy center. The cookies just felt like it wasn’t made with love and time. I’ve tried the snicker doodle, double chocolate, chocolate chip, chocolate chip oatmeal, peanut butter cookie and white chocolate cookie. Tasted like crap and not worth the $$.

Came across them at the South Pasadena Farmer’s Market. Everything looked delicious. I purchased a loaf of banana bread and a brownie. Brought them home to eat and something seem off about both. I actually didn’t even finish the brownie and only ate half a slife of the banana loaf. When I read the ingredients I instantly realized why they were greasy and gross: MARGARINE! Who bakes with margarine? Disgusting. Use butter!

This place taste great, had good service and so much to offer from breakfast to wedding cakes! if you want a great custom cake for any occasion Vera makes the most amazing cakes. They taste great and she is honest about what will work the best for your needs and the situation. my favorite flavor is the chocolate or marble cake with chocolate mousse filling and whipped cream topping mmmmmm.

I came here with my fiancé and 2 dogs(we sat outside) because we were in old town Monrovia and thought it would be nice to just grab a bite to eat since we skipped breakfast that morning. I ordered a breakfast bagel(and requesting for the bacon on the side) to share with my fiancé and also a large vanilla latte and a really big peanut chocolate chip cookie. Now there is a sign on the register that says to be patience since they make your order fresh and so you should allow enough time for them to make it. But our wait wasn’t that long at all(but then again it doesn’t take that long to make either the items I ordered). I asked the girl at the register is she could give us 2 cups of water in a Styrofoam or plastic cup since we have our dogs with us and thought they may want some water to drink. She brought out the cups of water for them right away, along with our vanilla latte. The vanilla latte was nice and hot and did not have a burnt coffee taste. The breakfast bagel was nice and tasty. The eggs were nicely cooked and not too oily. The added cheese in the bagel was really nice and the bagel itself was perfectly toasted. But I was a little disappointed with the cookie that I purchased. At $ 2.75 each, I was expecting it to be just a little bit sweeter. Maybe because of the peanut butter and chocolate chip combination with two strong flavors, perhaps it just didn’t work this time. But this cookie was just huge but not as tasty as I had hoped it would be. But I would like to try the other cookies just to see if maybe their other cookies are better. Anyways, there are other offerings you could try on their menu, like a few sandwiches on their lunch menu and such. You can also purchase pastries, cupcakes, sweet loafs and cakes here as well. There are probably 10 or so tables inside and a few tables outside. Service is nice, but maybe on the slower side(depending on what you order. but what’s the rush? Sit and relax, enjoy your meal). Overall, I would come back if I was in Monrovia again and in the mood for a nice quiet breakfast or lunch, especially if we are with our dogs and have the option to sit outside with them.

Ick, stay away from their baked goods! My snickerdoodle is much too sweet and kind of tastes a bit chalky. My friend said their brownie was sooooo dry. So disappointed =(BADIMPULSEBUY!

Came here after being coldly ignored at a nearby restaurant. Much warmer service here. We received prompt service, and the sandwiches were good. Turkey meat was moist, the dressing for the side salad was very delicious. Oh, and yummy chips! The young lady who took our order came out to apologize for a small problem with the iced tea, which really wasn’t a problem at all. But, she took that extra step to make sure her customers were happy. I appreciate that. The inside was quite loud, something up with the acoustics in there! So, we sat outside and it was very nice on the patio.

Although the name is «Planet COOKIES», I have yet to eat any cookies from here. My review is based on their other menu items. They’re located right at Myrtle & Lemon in Old Town Monrovia(next to Old Town Pizza) directly across from the Monrovia Library. My favorite items they have here are the following: CHICKENSALAD($ 8.95) which comes with sliced grill chicken breast w/mixed green, tomato, cucumber and carrots and served with house dressing(which they give you in a little clear squeeze bottle). The chicken is just lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and comes hot. The cucumbers and carrots are cold and crisp. The tomatos are cut thin.(I hate eating big chunks) I’d drink the dressing if I could! I also like their hot Café Mocha($ 3.25). Sodas are sold by the can. They also offer breakfast items, sandwiches, eclairs, pumpkin & zucchini bread and other goodies. You can also order custom cakes from Vera’s Cakes. NOTE: If you eat inside by the windows the floor is slanted towards the sidewalk. It’s kind of odd so I’d sit towards the middle of the room or outside if possible. If you come on a weekend when they have the Farmer’s market, the stands are located right across the street so it’s always a good option to stop here for a bite to eat and take a stroll to the Farmer’s market for some fresh fruit or yummy hummus.

They have a bunch of cookie cutters here in adorable and unique shapes for a very reasonable price as well as some bakingware available for customers to purchase. In terms of the actual baked goods they offer, everything was just meh. The cookies were hard, and I think they had been there since the morning. It seemed promising, and I might go back again to check out the various cutters and shapes they have here, but not for the desserts.

Fat-free Fridays(no matter how glutinous your meal may be, on FFF its fat-free lol) again everyone, so decided to pick up lunch today, a little healthier than planned but its okay. Ordered the Tuna Melt today, cheese was not melted, I just melted it when I got back to my office myself… but the tuna was nice, cool and fresh and I was stuffed after just half the sandwich and some chips! Ordered the potato salad again, now I think I can give you a better picture of it – picture cold mashed potatoes sprinkled with lots of pepper and mixed with chives. Its a very unique taste, but I like it :) My sandwich didn’t make me feel as heavy today either! Yay.

I walked in thinking it was a bakery… but it really is not. Well they do have desserts and pastries but I was hoping for some bread… which they did not seem to offer. They had a display of cake pieces, some baked goods on the side with scones, croissants, cookies and etc. The croissants looked flaky and yummy so I purchased two for $ 3.50. They actually were very good… very flaky… and very weight watchers unfriendly. But how else are you suppose to enjoy a good, flaky, crispy croissant right? I am a very happy Unilocaler today. My review is based on atmosphere: 5 service: 4 variety: 3 quality of items purchased: 5

What is with Monrovia bakeries destroying the peanut butter cookie? What the hell… really. I have been to every bakery in old town and no one can seem to make a simple and delicious peanut butter cookie! This place adds oatmeal to it and the oatmeal tasted stale and distracted from the purity of the cookie. Stop trying to be clever with every cookie you make and make some of the basics. Also, the price was WAY off. $ 2.75 for a single cookie?!? They’re lucky I was determined to find a good peanut butter cookie or else I would have just walked back out.

This afternoon my boyfriend and I stopped in to Planet Cookies, hoping to get some tasty sweets. This place has a lot of really neat baking tools and accessories. Aprons, cookie cutters in a bunch of shapes and sizes, sanding sugars, coloring gels, a bunch of different types of ribbon(?). it was fun to look at. Onto the sweets. I got a piece of carrot cake, and the boyfriend ordered the white chocolate bark with pistachios. The carrot cake was really, REALLY dry. And VERY dense. The cream cheese frosting was quite tasty; again, like i always say, it’s pretty hard to mess up cream cheese frosting. Back to the cake, did i mention how dry it was? And flavorless. I could see strips of carrot, and there were raisins galore but, it tasted like a dense, dry, sponge. The boyfriend didn’t enjoy his chocolate bark either. They chose to put salted pistachios in it, which was… interesting. And the white chocolate tasted weird and tin-like.(Some cheaper white chocolates have a metallic-y taste to it) Just to dip into the marketing bit: as we were walking by, the boyfriend asks: «do you want to get a cookie here?» To which i replied«They dont sell cookies here» because their menus(that are giant and in bright yellow) are all about Soups, Salads, and Meals.. and THEN. THEN i saw their name. «Oh, *Planet COOKIES*. I guess they DO have cookies here…» :shakes head: Your name implies delicious baked goods, but your menus and presentation are that of a restaurant. and the baked goods you do have are less than desirable. Overall we were dissatisfied. I’d come back to try some of their food, but probably wont ever try their cake/sweets again.
