Had an order of fried shrimp, an order of whole belly clams, and an order of onion rings. The shrimp was good but the portions were small for the price. The clams tasted like they weren’t washed before they were cooked. The onion rings didn’t really have much flavor at all. For $ 40 I expected more. Won’t be back.

We eat here every time we are in the area we love we always order the snow crab legs when they have them. 2 pounds of perfectly cooked crab legs fries and real good cole slaw. We highly recommend it our friend always orders the prime rib when they have it. We always call ahead to see if it’s on the menu that day

My husband had taken me here back when we were dating and I remembered it being very, very good. We happened to be out this way with our toddler tonight and thought we’d give it a go. It was ok. Not nearly as good as I have it down in my memory. It is also quite a bit run down since our previous visit. The calamari I have to assume was previously frozen and had no flavor. The New England clam chowder was somewhat bland with far too many potatoes and they serve it with Saltines rather than oyster crackers. They do bring warm, soft rolls in s basket which were yummy. My husband got the Charlie’s Seafood Platter– fried scallops, whole bellies, haddock and shrimp. The batter was decent, the scallops could have cooked a minute longer– they were thisclose to being undercooked. I ordered the Lobster Alfredo– 2 Thumbs up on this one. Excellent sauce, tons of chunks of lobster — easily getting 2 or 3 meals out of this one dish. The waitstaff was very nice though I will say we were asked if we would like dessert and being quite full and not much of dessert eaters, we declined, but I asked about some fresh decaf and was told they had shut down the coffee machine because they were closing(it was 8pm on Saturday night) — in all my years of waitressing I never would have denied a customer a cup of coffee. If I were in the area and starving I might take the chance at eating here again but we certainly won’t be going out of our way to come here again.

Not sure what the hype is about. We stopped in here and it was awkwardly quiet. Not«intimate and romantic» quiet, more like«you can hear someone across the restaurant breathing» quiet. The food was so-so. My fish and chips were tender but had absolutely no flavor. The clam chowder was ok. The other folks at my table shared the sentiment. Also it was kind of dingy inside. Wouldn’t bother coming back.

No pretentions here, not fancy but certainly adequate. We just got tired of being ripped off in Sturbridge so made the trip here. Much better deal, good selection of seafood with MUCH better prices than Sturbridge which really offers nothing worthwhile for their now inflated prices. Lobster sauté was really good and a generous portion for a fair price. Liked their natural broth clam chowder, great idea. We’ll be coming here regularly now even though it’s a bit out of the way.

What a FIND! Traveling home from Maine after lots of lobster and really wanted whole fried clams. Husband wanted haddock. CJ’s did not disappoint! Had a clam roll with whole fried clams, fries and great cole slaw. He got his haddock sandwich which tasted really fresh. More than enough for lunch but if you want more get the dinner size. And yes, they have lobster also! Worth the drive. Wish we were closer, we would be there often!

I’ve never been happier to discover a new restaurant. My girlfriend and I have been trying to find a fried seafood place that we can call«our spot» and visit regularly for quite a while. No matter where we tried to get our fried fish fix, either the food wasn’t that great, or the prices were too high. CJ’s was everything we have been looking for and more. While this restaurant is not near where we live, we take a trip 4 or 5 times a year that passes right by this joint which is right off I90. That means we’ll be visiting this place 4 or 5 times a year from here on out. It’s close enough to Six Flags that you should make it a point to stop here before or after going to the park. The prices are unbeatable. We paid $ 8.95 for a Haddock plate with french fries and slaw. Almost any seafood dinner you could think of was on that $ 8.95 menu, although I cannot attest to the size of the portions for the other meals, the crab cakes and haddock plate portions were more than enough. For two appetizers and two dinners, we paid less than $ 38. Nothing on the menu was overpriced, and the menu was extensive, offering anything you could want from a seafood restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. I heard other tables complementing the taste and freshness of their meals so I know we weren’t the only people in there who were so pleased. What really stood out to me however was the crab cakes. Those things were scrumptious. Every bite was heaven, and each time I saw my plate getting smaller and smaller, I almost felt depressed. It was pure nostalgia after it was gone. I wanted the crab cakes to never end. I had tried crab cakes a few times before; at Red Lobster, at three or four other restaurants that specialize in seafood, and a few dive joints. But CJ’s crab cakes made me feel like I had only eaten cheap gimmicks; that I was trying them for the first time here and every other place that offered them only aspired to make them this great. They cook them perfectly. A nice light crust outside, and a soft, delicate, delicious taste inside. The perfect texture. Yum level 1,000. As if they weren’t good enough based on all of the above… they also have pretty good dinner rolls that they bring to you before the meal. Nothing too fancy, but they were still delicious. Go here. Seriously. If you told me I HADTO pick one thing bad about this spot… I’d say that there french fry portions are not as big as most places. But who cares? I end up throwing half of them out at those other spots anyway!

Passed by many times over years. Rather odd location for seafood restaurant. Don’t judge this place by interior as pleasant surprised by fresh fish sandwich. Large portion of corn bread battered haddock excellent. Cole slaw also made on site. Only had local soda products, so no Coke products but Hosmer soda acceptable. Skip the fries with sandwich. Overall pleased with meal. Heard the lobster roll excellent. I will try lobster roll next time in area.
