I don’t know if it was just this particular experience(I hope so) because I am confused at all the great reviews. Just as a disclaimer, I never write negative reviews, but really feel like I should leave this here for the sake of the people. We were excited because the ambiance was great. even the presentation of the food is great. However, the flavors and texture??? Nope. Pomme frites were way too salty, Jamaican jerk chicken was not spicy and lacked any sort of flavor, fish in fish tacos was way over cooked almost like its been frozen for days, my octopus wonton was mushy, the calamari was too sweet, the beef sliders were a big ball of raw meat with, again, lack of flavor. Also wish they would overtly state that their menu is more like tapas. We only found out when our waitress told us that we should each order 2 – 3 things each(like what???). Also, service was not attentive. Our water cups were constantly empty. Overall, had a disappointing experience.

Had an amazing dinner at Swallow. Awesome atmosphere, very nice location and decoration, super nice stuff and excellent food. Usually don’t like shrimp and grits but they have converted me to the lovers. The octopus tacos my wife had were amazing, too. Price is good and quality is excellent. Might come back tomorrow.

Very very nice place in the marina of Montauk. You have many restaurants to choose from here but I think this one has the coolest menu of all. While the rest are more traditional and canteen look like, Swallow East has a hipster vibe and non-traditional menu with a lot of options like a tapas place where you share many plates. The sliders are a must. They are two big size burgers with a lot! of meat flavor. They come with a killer homemade ketchup and caramelized onions that are to die for. The bun is just outrageous! We also had the wonton octopus tacos that were amazing! Super tender and crispy with plenty of flavors. Lastly but not least, the blackened sea bass. Great fresh fish but too spicy for me. They went too heavy with the hotness of the sauce. Artichoke purée and citrus fruit was a nice combination but a little bit overpowered by the spicy ingredient. They don’t have a vast selection of dessert. Actually just two and they were not my type. It was my birthday so they gave me an ice cream scoop that was OK. Overall the menu is super gourmet and delicious. You just have to be careful with the ingredients and spices that are not listed in the description of the dishes, so ask for any particular things that you don’t like. Great restaurant!

The food here is really good, super expensive, but really good. The whole menu is tapas or small plates which can be a fun change from traditional dining. However, the size of the plates differs a lot which can be frustrating because you’re not sure how much you’re actually getting. The reason why some stars are docked is because I have had some TERRIBLE experiences with service. The worst however was the other week, the Friday of memorial day weekend me and my boyfriend decided to see if we could get a table(normally its pretty easy to get a table for two even during a holiday weekend with out a reservation). When we walked in, the hostess(about 20ish I would say), asked us if we had a reservation, to which we said no and nicely asked if she could seat two, or how long the wait would be. She literally rolled her eyes and said«it’s memorial day weekend guys» in the most sarcastic way. I have NEVER had a hostess be so rude and treat us like such a burden for coming in without a reservation like literally just tell us you can’t seat us and we’ll go somewhere else, thats all, no reason to be rude. However, the best part was that she COULD seat us, literally 2 seconds later she was like ya I can seat you with no wait. However, the only seats available were at the kitchen bar. She then took the time to explain to us what a kitchen bar was, because we are clearly infants who have never been to a restaurant before, and she made it sound as unappealing as possible, it went something like this… «So I have to seat you at the kitchen bar, It sounds like its a bar… but its not… its like at the kitchen so you just see like the cooks…» Like thank you for warning us of how terrible our seats are going to be since we were so dumb as to not make a reservation(also btw we love sitting at the kitchen bar its fast service and fun to watch the food being made) anyways, right before we sat down she also felt the need to explain to use that«while there are tons of empty tables now, I promise there all gonna fill up in like 20 minutes because of reservations» and we were like thanks we know how restaurants work. As an added bonus, 45 minutes later when we left all the table were still empty.figures.(my parents have experienced similar situations in which they claim there are tons of reservations coming in but the tables stay empty) I cant believe this hostess was just sooo rude and treated us like she was doing an enormous favor by seating. While the rest of the evening was nice and our waiter was great, this rude hostess just ruined the night for me. On the plus side, my parents went there the next day for lunch and told the manager about my experience, and they got free dessert so that was nice.

Awesome views from the restaurant if you take a seat out in the side walk caffe area. The food portion is a bit small but its definitely to my fav because i then get to try more variety. All the dishes delicious. Especially their lobster roll with a hint of tropic was off the hook! Sword fish top with gratfruit and orange was also amazing. It defeintely a must go place when i visit the Hamptons. Be back soon

The food is good, but obnoxiously overpriced and small portions. Pricier than Manhattan. I would only recommend for the location. Really pretty right off Gosmans dock.

Great place if you’re looking for variety. The dishes are small, but reasonable priced, perfect for sharing. We had the burrata, but it was a little too watery and the pesto was a little over powering. The asparagus fries were good and the lemon aioli bright and flavorful. The calamari was cutely presented in a Chinese takeout container and had a nice crunch with the crushed nuts. My SO picked the veggie curry, the vegetables were fresh and the forbidden rice was tasty. We each had a lemonade and an iced tea, which they give the option to spike the drinks.

Swallow East is in a great location and you just cannot beat the food and atmosphere, definitely a must if you’re in Montauk. My fiancé and I love it so much we’re having our wedding there! Chicken wings, calamari, and all the fish options are always top notch. My favorite are the strawberry, jalapeño margaritas.

We got married here in early May and it was the best choice we ever made. Our guests are still raving about the food(clam chowder, glazed calamari, crab cakes, asparagus fries, fish tacos, shrimp tacos, sliders)! The space has a charm and a modern rustic feel that perfectly strikes a balance between casual and cool. But most importantly, the service was extraordinary. The onsite, management, and server teams were extremely friendly, adaptable and professional. Kudos to Megan, Derek and Allison especially — I credit them largely for the success of the entire day. It helped that the sun came out and we could dance the deck. They probably orchestrated that too!

Extremely solid choice for a lovely dinner during the low season. My wife and visited in the dead cold of February and enjoyed everything we had — chowder, calamari, fish tacos, asparagus fries. The service was friendly and attentive, the overall vibe was very relaxed and enjoyable. During the dinner, there was some kind of kitchen mishap that resulted in a large crash and I can only imagine a pile of broken plates. No anger, no shouting, staff shrugged it off and kept things running smoothly. Recommend!

Awesome place to have dinner with a group of friends. We came here on a Saturday night and there was a live band performing, they were so good! The food is all tapa style with a ton to choose from. I recommend getting about three plates per person because they’re not all very large. The Mac and cheese, steak and the shrimp tacos were my favorite.

Wanted to go 4 here but couldn’t. I couldn’t because of how uncomfortable the outside seating was. High tables with stools with no backs that shook. With all their deck space I was shocked they didn’t have more tables with more seating variety. Came here with my dad on a Friday night at 7 with no reservation and surprisingly got right in. Apparently Friday night is not their thing. They have wild reggae Sundays and Saturday night is better than Friday. Nevertheless, my dad and I were not looking for a wild time. I could see coming here with a couple girlfriends for cocktails rather than embarking on the crowded typical boozey destinations. The inside bars are cozy and again, Fridays seem manageable. Food: I had the crab appetizer and the shrimp taco entrée. Both were good. The crab entrée had a guacamole on top that seemed store bought. The shrimp tacos were very good but pretty cold when they came out. My dad had the mussels and I have to comment on how good the sauce flavor was! I would come back just for the mussels. One annoying thing was the corn hole right on the deck adjacent to our table. I love drinking games but it was obnoxious to hear the constant thud of the bean bag on the wooden platform. This place is trying hard to be a respected restaurant with high prices while catering to the young NYC masses. It’s either or. With the docks nearby, I was surprised that the fish tacos were tile fish. No Seabass? Striped bass? Lame.

Just discovered reggae night on Sunday nights here. Don’t come for dinner that night, but come for drinks! Great music and a really cool crowd that is a mix of 20s and 30s.

We biked up here during the day from the main village in Montauk. It says on Unilocal that it’s only open for dinner, but that’s not true. We ate lunch here. We were a bit iffy after reading the reviews but the menu looked good so we decided to give it a try. The waitress described everything as small plates and appetizer size. She was spot on. I know many of the reviews disagreed with this, and claimed everything was tiny, but I believe they are wrong and have odd expectations of what appetizer size is. For example, we ordered asparagus fries and based off the reviews I expected to get 4 asparagus spears, but really it was like getting a whole bunch of asparagus. Anyway, we ordered 3 plates: crispy calamari, asparagus fries and fish tacos. We were stuffed by the end of it. The crispy calamari was DELICIOUS and came in a cute Chinese take-out container. Very good size. The asparagus fries were also fantastic and came with a tasty aioli to dip into. The fish tacos were no bueno for us. They were bland and just below average. Could have had some slaw for crunch and some guac for saltiness. Def needed more citrus too. Our waitress was friendly and gave great service. The bar tender was nice but didn’t know what a sour ale was. That was a little embarrassing. Aside from the fish tacos the meal was great and I’d love to come back again.

I came here with a group of friends for dinner and I would say the overall experience was pleasant. The place is pretty cute inside and the food was good; however, the portion sizes are very small. We were all aware that SE does small plates but were pretty surprised by the size when they came out especially because they were described to us as «larger than appetizers» by our waitress. We ordered several dishes but ended up leaving kind of hungry. I would say the highlights of the night were the grilled skirt steak with garlic aioli and corn salsa and the«mac and cheese» made with peas and bacon. The mac and cheese has more of a risotto feel to it(it’s made with orzo) than the traditional mac and cheese but was delicious nonetheless. The service was a bit on the iffy side. Our waitress wasn’t very attentive. We split the check using one CC and the rest in cash and when she returned the receipt for the cardholder she also returned all of the cash(and she didn’t mistakenly charge it all to the card). We had to find her before we could leave to give her the money back because we didn’t feel comfortable leaving that much money on the table. We also politely asked that she take a photo of our group and she told us to wait and then sent someone else over to our table to do it. She wasn’t rude by any means but the interaction was a bit on the odd side.
