Clean, nice interior, friendly service, and fresh made to order food. I ordered the combo steak/chicken kabob, my sin got the shrimp kabob, my daughter got the chicken entrée. Everything was simply great, the grilled vegetables were awesome.

I love this place. I stumbled upon this place randomly, while in the area and looking on Unilocal.I am SO glad I gave this place a try, it is now my go to restaurant when i’m craving Greek food. I always get the chicken souvlaki with rice and the café moderno salad as my side. The Tiramisu is amazing as well. Take out is relatively fast and the service is always top notch. Would highly recommend this to anyone craving Greek food!

This place is a hidden gem. The quality of the meats(I had chicken and steak) were great. The steak was tender too. I like the taziki sauce they serve as well, very flavorful. The service was great as well.

I have been here three times and have ordered something different overtime. The food is delicious! My next time I come in, I will be ordering the BAKLAVA, I can’t wait to try it!

Cute and delicious Mediterranean restaurant! Steak wrap was fresh and light. My husband got the philly cheesesteak and loved it as well. It was our first time here and we would definitely come back!

We ordered two plates of 2 skewer chicken kabobs. Our total was $ 32 and some change. Usually Mediterranean places include hummus and pita bread with your plates but here if you wanted hummus it was considered ONE of your two sides. This was the biggest shortfall for me, otherwise I probably would have rated it 5 stars because the food was delicious. I chose hummus and vegetables, my husband chose cesar salad and hummus. We were disappointed in the portions of the sides and didn’t feel we got our moneys worth(although the flavor of the chicken was spot on).

1st timer! Great lunch of Chicken Souvalki with Baba Ghanoush and Basmati Rice. Nice subtle flavors and really exactly what I was looking for. Don’t get tempted by the El Pollo Loco in the parking lot… this is the right choice!!!

Had to try this new Mediterranean Restaurant… I sampled both chicken and beef gyros with the Mediterranean fries. Tzatziki sauce was pretty ok and the fries were good, but the portion size was great… had enough to share with a friend. Not that many restaurants around that offer this cuisine so it was an overall ok experience. $ 10 for the«combo» with no drink I thought was a maybe a buck or two too much but it is what it is. If you have the craving for Mediterranean food and in the area, your craving will be satisfied.

So fresh and so delicious!!! Always Nice service too. I highly recommend checking out this gem in Montclair. Love the kabobs, hummus and Theos Greek salad. Has some outdoor seating too.

Twenty-five Check-Ins! Woot Woot! I am The Duchess! Okay, so obviously this place is like my second home. I eat here A LOT. And the most important point I’d like to make is that this place is consistent. The food is delicious and comes out the same each and every time. The only time I have any issues here… it has to do with service. I’ve had a bit of a wait when they get slammed or sometimes when my favorite hostess isn’t working. Other than that… everything is DE-Lightful! Feta Fries… Whaaaa?! So delicious! Chicken Pita Wrap… I add 75 cents for Feta… big, fresh, yummy! Chicken Kabobs… Delicious…Tasty…and juicy for Chicken Breast! Theo’s Original Greek Salad and add a kabob! Hands down the best! The dressing is soooo Delicious! Sweet… mmm mmm. Their Iced Tea has been spot on lately! Fresh brewed. Not too strong. Okay…the downside? There is one. I don’t like their rice. That’s my only sadness here… because rice is my favorite side when I eat dinner. If they could change their recipe or if I could sneak in someone else’s Basmati Rice Pilaf… this place would be PERFECT! Yes…I admit I’m by no means an expert on «Authentic Greek Food»…it’s why I’m known for«I’m so not into authentic»…all I know is I like my chicken clean… white…and seasoned nicely. And so this place gets 10 stars and I call it home :-)

I had the Moderno salad I think that’s what it was called and the Greek frappé it was so yummy!

I don’t like writing negative reviews, but this was a letdown. Greek food in LA kinda sucks and I was hoping Moderno would break the spell. First, somehow the gyro came loaded with lettuce. Anyone who’s ever had a real gyro knows there’s not lettuce on the thing. What is this, middle America? Second the mediterranean fries with lemon juice totally harshed the crunchy fry vibe making them soggy and limp. Bad concept and bad on me for trying something new. The employee I mentioned this too didn’t do a da*n thing to try to earn my business by offering another order of real fries or remaking my sandwich. I really want family owned places like this to succeed, but I can’t say they bent over backwards to make sure I’ll come back. So I probably won’t. Nancy’s Greek in Altadena was about 1000 times better.

Disclaimer: I am also not great at discerning good Mediterranean food, but ended up here because I had a powerful urge to go back to La Authentica Michoana one more time. The food was about 3.5, but the extra half goes to the server. If I lived in the area and wanted a Mediterranean takeout, I’d come back, but I wouldn’t drop by just to have this. Location: located in a large plaza on Central near El Pollo Loco/Petco, there is a small but brightly lit sign in the back as you pull in past El Pollo Loco. I came for dinner following my last night of the calbar 2016, mostly because I wanted to wait out the traffic back to LA. The restaurant style is what I think you’d call«fast casual.» The inside is brightly lit, tables are clean, décor is simple and clean as well. You order what you want at the front, take a number, and they bring to you. Service: I’m used to fast casual places bringing your food, settling it down, and never coming back. Plus points for the server checking in on me a few times, even though I must have looked brooding and crazy given that I had a runny nose and spilled coffee down my jacket. She was also pretty good at answering questions for my not well versed in Mediterranean food self. Food: I ended up with a lamb gyro combo. There’s probably a good 8 – 12 pieces of lamb, maybe more, and you get two sides. The lamb was very tender and flavorful, with no need for the yogurt sauce. The food came altogether on an enormous plate, and the sides were pretty much regular sized portions instead of sides. I loved the Theo Greek Salad. Whatever they put in the dressing works perfectly with the crispy lettuce, slight saltiness of the olives, and crunchy cucumbers. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten a full salad with added protein. I’m mixed on the mediterranean fries. On the one hand the dressing was savory and unique(paprika/vinegar or lemon?), but on the other hand they were overall cold. :(…or are the fries more like mashed potatoes in American food and thus not necessarily crispy? Price: $ 10.95 for the plate. Also took an order of baklava to go($ 3.85 before tax).

My second visit to Café Moderno was as good as the first. The entrees are priced very well for the quality and quantity of food you get. I have tried both the Modern Greek Salad and Theo’s Original Greek Salad. Both included fresh ingredients, and the dressing and cheese were both awesome. My main course was the three kabob plate. As indicated above, the portion is excellent for the price. Each kabob was covered in delicious spices and cooked perfectly. The plate comes with two sides of your choice(mediterranean fries and grilled vegetables in my case), pita bread, and tzatiziki sauce. The mediterranean fries were average because the grilled vegetables stole the side show. The vegetables were fresh and seasoned and cooked perfectly. The tzatizki sauce is amazing; a perfect combination of yogurt, dill, cucumber, and garlic. You might want to take some to go. You must also try the baklava here. It is flaky, light, and of course sweet. Quick shout out to our server. She was super friendly and helpful when we asked questions about the menu and entrees. Based on the quality, quantity, menu options, and value, Café Moderno is my new mediterranean/greek spot!

My husband and I decided that we wanted to find a Mediterranean place tonight as we’re trying to eat healthier right now. We decide that the rating of Café Moderno was worth giving it a shot. Let me just say that my half Greek husband and I were not disappointed! Both of our dishes were packed with so much flavor! Everything tastes fresh and light. Every bite was just so very delicious. My husband truly couldn’t get over how tasty his food was. The service was very good. Only one young woman running the front; taking orders, serving the food, and bussing. She was so polite and personable, if she at all felt like she was shorthanded, you couldn’t tell. Definitely coming back here again! Thank you, Café Moderno, before finding you, we only knew of good Mediterranean food in LA! You’re saving us traffic and gas!

Great gyros! Really tender meats, big portions, reasonable prices. The cream of corn soup was good too, chunks of potato, sweet corn. Really filling and comforting on a cold day.

Café Moderno? More like Café Inferno. Ahhh I was so upset when I came here last night. I was craving Mediterranean food so I ordered some food to go here, due to all of the raving reviews. When I opened the box at home, I was sorely disappointed when I saw that the chicken kabobs were VERYBURNT. I still bit into it to see if it was still good and if it just tasted a little«smokey», but nope — it was very charred. It tasted like I was eating ashes! I had to use a knife to try and take out the burnt parts! The only saving grace was at least the Mediterranean fries and the rice were good. I don’t think I’m ever going to this place again :(

Good food. Good service. As we walked in, my boyfriend and I were kindly greeted by one of the workers. She was very patient with us as it was our first time because we had to look at their menu to make our decision. I ordered the Falafel wrap with an add on side of minestrone soup. My boyfriend ordered the lamb gyro entrée that comes with 2 sides and something else. For his sides, he asked for hummus and mediterranean fries. Our order was ready in roughly 5−10mins. Not bad of a wait since it was a slow when we arrived. Their portions are big. As a small eater, their portions are shareable. Haha. Anyway, as we dug into our food, it tasted so awesome. From the soup to the Falafel, to the gyro! Especially their hummus and mediterranean fries! If what we ordered is good, I’m sure everything else on their menu is just as awesome and tasty.

This place is a hidden gem! This place has some awesome food and service. Tried two entrees: lamb souvlaki and the lamb gyro. All entrees come with 2 sides, pita and a small serving of tzatiki. For sides, we tried the tzatiziki(needed a larger size than what comes with entrees), hummus, rocca salad, and grilled veggies. All the food was AWESOME!!! Meat cooked perfectly, veggies grilled but not completely charred and mushy. Also happy hour beer discounts from 4 – 6:30pm.
