Muscle Maker Grill has been popping up everywhere! They have a lot of locations on their website so I thought this place must be good if the demand is high. Damnit. I hate when I’m wrong. Their Texas and Honey BBQ chicken nuggets were very very bland. The mango banana smoothie I had was so watery. This place seems like a niche restaurant for people on a diet or who choose to live a super healthy lifestyle. If you need to cut down on calories and not be tempted by fatty foods, this is the place to go. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste money on trying this place out.

We went to Muscle Maker Grill since we had Groupon. We ordered Arizona steak rice, Godfather and Tropical Paradise shake. All the food was under 400 per dish. And after finishing the food, we had leftovers. Price of items were good. I have to admit some food did not really had taste and bland. Service was great. It was not bad and it was not great. I like that fact all the food had less calories so we did not feel too stuffed when we left.

The service here is great. Manager is SUPER nice, very helpful. This is our go-to place for healthy food in the area.

Living in nearby Bloomfield, finding healthy wraps or food is a bit tough to come by. Muscle Maker is a choice that my fiancé and I are almost FORCED to deal with whenever we want our fix, but it’s not a choice that disappoints. Growing up, I’ve had wraps that are much more fresh and soft — Muscle Maker’s wraps, while filling, are always a bit hard and seem a little… processed. However, they do hit the spot and are a very healthy way to eat a quick meal. They delivery service also isn’t too shabby — sometimes they take a bit longer than they say they will, which can be frustrating, but is also just nature of the beast when you’re dealing with ordering Your food! I gave Muscle Maker a 3⁄5 because everything is just OKAY — nothing really stands out, quality or service-wise, but they are still a good choice for a healthy meal.

Stopped by the Muscle Maker Grill for a quick, casual lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the courteous service. Let’s start with the food, though. We had an Italiano salad, which was fresh, well-dressed(not overly done), and had a balanced amount of toppings. We also had a Godfather, minus the mozzarella. The chicken on the Godfather seemed fresher than the chicken on the salad. The balsamic vinaigrette with the chicken reminded me of the Filipino dish chicken adobo – salty and soy saucy. The broccoli was fresh and crispy. Nothing was overdone, nothing was boiled, and we both enjoyed our dishes. Considering that the food is «healthy» yet fast and casual, it was quite flavorful and we’d definitely return. Even though they ran out of shrimp for the nuggets, the manager was able to suggest and substitute something else. We ended up getting steak nuggets, which might not seem very traditional, but were actually AMAZING! They were even a little pink in the middle. What would you call these, steak bites? I dunno man, it could be the hottest new thing! Major props to the service, too. The nice gentleman who I think is the manager handled everything from our initial order to serving us at our table. He was super courteous and attentive. He’s the reason I’m rounding this up from a 4.5.

My go to place for later nite lite meals — as a physician I can appreciate a meal that is low in carbs and limits the impact on the glycemic index. I’ll get out of the office late and pick up a mardi gras salad with chicken. Only downside is parking in Montclair — issue for all restuarants, but if your there for quick pick-up, no problem. Unilocal needs to post their phone number 973746‑4444.

Food is o.k., but it’s not worth the wait. They do not have it together there and you will wait whether the place is full or virtually empty.

I bought a groupon for this place. Even though i am a fan of this chain, i have never been to this particular location. We went on a Monday night and it was very empty, but we had a great experience. What seemed to be the owner of the place took our order, told us we can pay at the end, and that he would bring us the food to our table. I had the MMG wrap with roasted peppers and that was really good. My friend had the Arizona entrée and she enjoyed her meal as well. I also like the set up of the restaurant b/c it actually is pretty big and feels like a dine-in restaurant, where most of these chains are more like fast food type set-ups. The owner came over to make sure that everything was perfect, and it was! I’m going to continue being a fan and supporting muscle maker grills.

30 minutes to get chicken that finally wasnt undercooked. Out of broccoki. Move on to somewhere else. The lady behind the counter asked me «WHAT did you order again? Really? Is chicken and broccoli so hard?

I’ve stopped in a few times, and almost always get the same thing… a turkey taco salad. Unlike most of the other MMGs I’ve been to, this one isn’t usually deltoid to pectoral-packed with the«I pick things up and put them down» crowd. Most of the staff is pretty nice, but I’ve gotten a couple(calling in an order) that weren’t the friendliest. Not rude at all, but more indifferent than anything. The owner seems to be around a lot, and he’s always been attentive to me and other customers. Food quality is decent. I find a lot of «healthy food» to be inherently bland, but they do an ok job, and I don’t want to get a burger and fries immediately afterward.

On walking in the woman behind the counter barks, «Your name?» Um, how about«hi», or «how’s it going», or «first time?» When I tell her, she asks if my order is to stay or to-go. Really, no sales acumen at all. It’s a new location, my first time there, and I’m still scanning the menu to see what’s what. I ordered a smoothie and the man preparing it apologized that is was«too cold, let it warm up a little before you drink it.» Hmmmm, don’t they have this stuff down to a set formula yet? The smoothie was pretty good, not bad, not great. With so much competition in Montclair they’re going to have to step it up. And the branding — the name, and the relentless red and black everywhere — could be a challenge in a town like Montclair.
