Best place around. Top choice whenever I’m in the area! Gluten free menu too! Omelettes are the best, highly recommend.

This place has the worst service, and rudest waitstaff I have ever encountered. We ordered 2 grilled cheeses, 2 grilled tuna sandwiches and 2 roast beef sandwiches. It took over an hour for us to get our food. We were one of the only people in the restaurant when we ordered, and meanwhile the restaurant filled up and everyone got their orders before us. When I politely inquired if our food was coming soon, the waitress got extremely defensive and said she had no idea. She actually stopped serving us after that and the other waitress took over. Finally after several minutes we noticed the kitchen just started making out sandwiches. Neither waitress ever apologized for the wait, never said another word to us and wouldn’t look us in the eye. They seemed to actually be hiding from us, which is strange because we were never rude to them at all. The wheat bread on my sandwich was really soggy and it completely fell apart.

I figured I’d try this place out, came in and stood there for 5 minutes before I approached the waitress and asked to sit down. Then it took another 10 minutes for someone to come ask me if I needed a menu and bring me a coffee. The coffee was good. The waitresses seemed disgruntled and distressed. There was 4 people in the entire place. I ordered and 2 seconds later the other waitress came back and asked to reconfirm my order? Really? I then proceeded to sit there for 35 minutes and drank two cups of coffee. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen, I don’t blame the waitresses at all. It seems like they have a lot of walk outs or people leaving unsatisfied. I never received my food which was just bacon and eggs. I got up, paid and left. Not one person said sorry, or anything. Never going back and I warned a few people walking in to do the same and not even bother going in. Don’t waste your time or money at this place.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Yes, the place needs a small makeover to freshen it up while maintaining its vintage charm(paint, remove fake plants. etc.) BUT, the food is SUPER good. It is true comfort food done well. The service is good and they do such a professionally packaged take-out.

I am giving 2 stars SOLELY on the food, which was delicious. But the service in this place is awful! I have never felt so unwanted in my entire life! The surly woman that served us rolled her eyes at me when I simply asked for another cup of coffee. Not to mention that we were the only customers in the restaurant and it took 20 minutes for someone to come take our order! Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other 100 places for breakfast in Montclair…

I have been here a handful of times. I go for the gluten free menu and prices. It is the same server every time and we are usually the only diners when we go. The food is good, simple and a lot of options for gluten free. However the service is not great. Any time I have been there, I always feel as if I am not wanted. After the food is dropped off, the server doesn’t come back to check until she drops off the bill. Probably won’t be going back after last time, which is a shame since there are a lot of gf options.

This restaurant is cozy. They provided our film crew with an excellent breakfast — sausages, eggs, ham, toast. They were quick and helpful.

The food was really delicious. We came in for breakfast and coffee. But other than the food, everything else was just blah. The interior needed updating and the service wasn’t that great. Once we got our food, we never saw her again, not a single refill.

We were looking for a new gf place and had never realized this place was here, was very excited to hear they had gf french toast. It’s a small quaint place, and you have to ask for the gf menu. ITSHUGE. We decided the share the pb and banana stuffed french toast and chocolate chip waffle. To say it was good is an understatement. Both were freaking incredible. You couldn’t tell either were gf which is quite a feat. I’m depressed I flew back to Cali before I got to try more of the food, and will def be back whenever I’m in town.

Had two salads that were specials. They were tasty, but we’re not representative of the descriptions. Both had some ingredients missing and added. The service could be better.

My new favorite gluten free place! Fabulous food, comfortable and casual atmosphere, friendly service. This place is worth the trip! It takes my husband and I about 35 minutes each way to get there but we don’t mind. We’ve had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. The gluten free french toast is worth the trip alone, the chocolate chip belgian waffles — wow, the sausage with peppers and onions — whoa, chicken piccata — yummy! Don’t forget the chocolate milkshake or the root beer float! The most extensive gluten free menu that we have ever seen(and we have been looking for over 15 years). Is there anything that they can’t make gluten free? It is unbelievable! I can’t wait until we return again. I wonder what we’ll try next… love Love LOVE the Cozy End!!!

Finally had a chance to try this place tonight with my kids. We had breakfast for dinner. It was inexpensive, had diner-like offerings, & friendly service. We were the only patrons there & the ambience is lacking a bit but I agree there’s something nostalgic about it.

We stopped in to check out the gluten free menu. They have many choices, and we may come back to try breakfast if we aren’t pressed for time. The service is slow and they don’t check back after dropping off the food. We ordered gf cheese steak wrap. It was roast beef lunch meat. It wasn’t bad, but not a cheese steak. We also had a gf bacon cheese burger. Which was good but nothing to brag about.

I came here before free movie night for dinner. This place is old. They still have he old school wooden noisy cash registers. I ordered the Mediterranean salad with grill chicken. The portion was huuuuuge. I agree with others that there is nothing to brag about this place. I left full and satisfied. It was creepy that I was the only person eating here at the time. Some background music was needed. Would have been old if 2 broke girls worked here,

We’ve been going to the Cozy for 20 years. Under the new-ish owners, the food has been improved and updated. It looks old-fashioned, and it is, in a very nice way. I often get their salads, which are outstanding! My husband loves the cobb salad and I get the chicken over Italian; both enough for two meals. Burgers and sandwiches are ok, more like a diner’s, but main courses are terrific. Unassuming, but great.

More a luncheonette than a diner and has that charm from maybe the 60s or 70s. Not much decorative but just has that era’s feel to it. We went on a Thursday for lunch and sure enough they had pea soup. I had a bowl and it was good. Then I had a veggie burger on a bun. The bun was outstanding, probably due to the freshness and all the sesame seeds on it. The veggie burger was fine although I tend to like mine with a little more crispness. My buddy had a burger platter. Good stuff too. Nothing exotic about the menu. A lot of comfort foods which is A-OK in my book for lunch. Our server was great! Probably a 3 star place but since we stumbled in here not knowing where to go and were well-treated, I’m going with 4 stars.

I’ve been coming here for years. Family run, reasonable prices and good honest food. Excellent breakfasts, great cobb salad(my sister gets one every week and it lasts her all week, that’s how large it is), great club sandwiches. Great little neighborhood place.

The Cozy End is a wonderful throw back to earlier times, preserved perfectly. It’s almost like being on a movie set decades ago — where else can you find that? I had a cheeseburger that was quite big and delicious. In general the food is of diner style and quality which doesn’t need much explanation in NJ. Charming, friendly, and a solid value.

I’ve been here a couple of times. Nothing to brag about The cheeseburger and fries were ok. Average at best The service was very good. It’s a very small place so they have good attention to detail. The prices are reasonable. This review I suppose is 1 star for bland and uninteresting but that’s really all there is to say
