The Shops at Montebello

FIRST OFF ALL, the customer service or management or whatever the heck it’s called… it’s terrible. A little boy about the age of 3 was on the escalator (going down) and fell backwards. The lady at the customer service, which by the way is like in front of the escalator. His eyebrow started bleeding, so my mom and I went to Gymboree for a bandage and they didn’t have one! According to the law, all stores must have a first aid kit. The lady kept repeating herself that we have to tell security, which I clearly understood the first time, but like the little boy needed a bandage. Long short if you don’t feel like dealing with workers who have attitude, don’t come to this mall. BTW there were workers from other stores who had like major attitude. If I could choose anything under 1 star, I would!

Oh. Montebello Town Center. You’ve come a long way. I remember coming to this mall over fifteen years ago when I was in junior high school and it was «the place» to be. There were ample shops, an arcade, and even a movie theatre about a block up the hill. Looking back, the mall actually was pretty dated and terrible in terms of the shops that they had. There was no old navy, Coach bag store for the ladies, and everything just looked old and dated.
Now, it’s been renovated for some years and it seems like they keep the place very tidy and clean. There are entry-​level higher end shops here now and they continue to try and make this mall better than ever. It may never supercede Santa Anita mall as the best «area» mall but it can definitely hold its own.
Parking here is pretty painful. Make sure you try to park on the opposite end (closer to the hills and not the freeway) as there is typically more parking there. Don’t park in the Kaiser area because they WILL tow your car.
Good place to shop for a few gifts and a good-​sized food court. The mongolian bbq place is a favorite of mine!

I wasn’t a fan of the make up stand it’s like a mineral make up kios
They pulled me in to try there sample of make up, the lady was trying different foundations on me and when I got home I broke out with a rash on my face, I don’t think they clean there make up brushes. Ladies please don’t go here
Other than that The mall has wonderful places to shop at especially fashion nova, love that store top 5 store.

Your mall parking sucks, you would think a mall this size would have more parking. I won’t be coming here to shop this holiday season this place is horrible. Took me almost 30 minutes to park. I’ll be shopping at puente hills instead

Considering how close I live to this mall I’ve hardly come here. Maybe once a year the most. This mall needs to step up their game and have more of a variety beside a bunch of toys stores.

Shopped at this mall last month, it was a bad experience. Bunch of children running around,
felt I’m going to get runover by multiple strollers. The restrooms were DISGUSTING !!, floors were covered by toilet papers, seems like people don’t know to throw toilet papers inside the toilet… Ewww! Went to 2 restrooms both the same. Perhaps they need to provide taller waste basket. There were couple nice shops, liked BJ restaurant. Overall this mall is filthy the floors are filthy and trashy areas perhaps they need more janitors.

I dislike this mall now, because of zumiez! The people there are rude and just assume things. They asked «what are you guys doing?» We answered «just looking» they said «I didn’t know that’s what stores are for.» Another worker asked if we’re going to buy something, like c’mon, we’re looking to see if we see something we like. I didn’t know that once you walk into a store, you’re suppose to buy something.

There’s always a bunch of parking spaces… since no one really comes to this mall. It lacks a variety of shops and it’s a dated, small mall. But it gets the job done and I’ve seen worse malls than this one so I can’t give it a one star. On a positive note, it has some of my favorite stores (Aldo, Steve Madden, Victoria’s Secret) and the usual pretzel and Cinnabon stores that you must eat while shopping! If you wanna go to a mall with bunch of shops, then this isn’t the place for you!

It’s too bad Unilocal doesn’t have a NEGATIVE 5-​star rating because that’s exactly what I would give this place: –5 stars!
If you want to see all of society’s rejects, cholos, wannabe gangbangers, shoplifters, welfare families with 10,000 kids blowing their welfare check then this place is for you.
I’m almost embarrassed to say this but I grew up less than 5 miles from this mall and I was here on opening day in 1982. Sadly this place has gone from bad to worse. They even changed its name from «Montebello Town Center» to «The Shops at Montebello» just so they could try to maintain Beverly Center or Century City Shopping Center status but little do they know they failed miserably. I can remember hanging out here right after high school and watching the Montebello police cuff shoplifters right in the parking lot. That was when ghetto Mervyn’s was still in business at this mall. With all the shoplifting that goes on here you would think that it was UoS (University of Shoplifters) where you can get your Master’s Degree in shoplifting. If they don’t steal stuff in the shops they’re jacking people’s cars. I would never put my car at risk by parking it in their ghetto-​infested parking lot.
They need to take a wrecking ball to this pathetic place and put it out of its misery. Oh yeah and the Olive Garden just outside this mall had a stickup earlier this year and all the employees were held hostage. It doesn’t get anymore ghetto than that.

This is my least favorite mall within my vicinity because of the lack of stores & cleanliness. There are certain parts of the mall that smells funky & the restrooms are poorly managed. What keeps me coming back is one store — Forever 21. This location usually carries clothes that are out of stock at Forever 21 at Westfield Santa Anita.
Parking has never been an issue, they have a big lot that never fills up. There’s hardly a wait for fitting rooms since not a lot of people visit this mall.

This mall has all the big mainstream stores. I don’t especially like or dislike this mall but the benefits of this place is that it’s not too crowded and if you’re nearby and looking for easy access to a generic mall with generic stores, you can’t go wrong here. Overall, a moderate shopping mall with moderate selection of stores.

This shopping mall looks like it could be packed with great stores, but unfortunately, not. I have come here a few times and never walked out having purchased anything. The variety of stores they have is minimal, BUT the other day I received an online order from American Eagle and unfortunately had to return part of the order and the closest location was at this mall. So, 1 star for this mall having the AEO I needed, and for a hassle-​free return experience I had there.
They do have a Starbucks & Yogurtland here, right next to each other, which is nice if you’re just coming here for a quick meet-​up with a friend and looking to enjoy free AC/​wi-​fi :)

There is a custom tshirt place in this mall called I customize that does crappy work. They are located on the top floor next to zales. The guy was trying to charge me 47 dollars to press a shirt front and back. I get my shirts done for 15 bucks and they come out awesome at another place in San gabriel but since that place was closed I had no choice but to go somewhere else. I talked him down to 27 after that he was rude and the shirt came out like crap. I kinda expected it because I wasn’t going to pay what he was asking. I DONT recommend anyone to go to him you will end up disappointed and over pay for something you can get done somewhere else. I RECOMMEND A STICKER PLACE IN SANTA ANITA MALL THERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. If I can give them ½ star I would.

There’s just a little bit of everything here, when it comes to shopping stores. A Macy’s, Jc Penney, and even a brand new Old Navy. The food court has a descent amount of places to eat, however, my main concern here is that it very unhealthy. There’s literally no place to get a good salad or green juice other than green crush, which don’t get me wrong it if beyond delicious but I’m not sure is healthier than the other places there. They really need to bring a Chipotle or juice bar.

Montebello mall is come along way since the 90s.
Parking is usually pretty easy.
Great variety of stores and food selections. There is a BJ’s and Olive Garden here now. I get my pies for the holidays here at the Marie Callender’s.

2014 Unilocal 365 CHALLENGE — ³²⁹⁄₃₆₅
Randomly came to this mall this past weekend with my roomie. We came here specifically looking for Morning Glory, only to discover it was located inside this mall.
They had holiday hours which was awesome because we didn’t get to the mall until 10:30pm and they closed at 11pm, LOL. It was so weird being at a mall that late at night, but we were very thankful because we got lost trying to find it!
This mall is definitely what comes to mind when I think of an old, ghetto mall. It’s definitely seen better days and could use a major facelift. My roomie even commented that it smelled like an old mall. Really outdated from like the 80s or 90s.
It wasn’t crowded at all when we went, but we were also there at 10:30pm, so that could be why. Parking was pretty plentiful and we got a parking spot right near the entrance to the mall.
I am giving this mall 3 stars because the selection of stores was decent. I definitely saw a few stores that I would probably visit if I had more time to spend there. My friend and I spent most of our time in Morning Glory so most of the stores were closed by the time we left MG. I would be willing to come back to check out the stores I missed! I don’t think I could spend an entire day shopping here, but at least a few hours :)

Do not really make it out much to this mall, but when I do, it is always nice, especially during Christmas time with the the decorations.
The only thing I wished this mall had was an Apple Store! But other than that I was able to find what I need plus more.
Did not get a chance to check out the food court but it sure did smell good walking by. The restrooms were clean, well atleast the men’s was haha.
I love that they have a few different sports stores because that’s what I love most about my shopping. They also have a pin up store for those who are into that.
I ended up getting a USC hat and a few other things. Happy holidays but not a happy wallet when I leave lol
Ho Ho Ho

This place gets a bad rap and honestly I feel that it could be a lot worst! I think this mall is a little bit better than Puente Hills Mall. Montebello mall is located off the 60 freeway. So it is pretty easy to go in and out of this mall. It is pretty empty mostly during the weekdays but thats a good thing if you want to find clothes for yourself of buy a gift for someone.
Parking is huge and they have a big parking lot that goes all around the mall. The food court is in the middle but I rarely go and eat here. Sometimes I do enjoy a nice meal at BJ’s which is attached to the mall.
They also have a Marie Calenders and a Macy that I do go to. So this mall does have a few different brands but nothing super high end and expensive which sometimes is a good thing especially for your wallet!
