I love their unique selection of men’s dress shirts. You’re guaranteed to find something you haven’t seen before. Love it.

I happened by BestDressedMonk while visiting friends in Montecito recently. BDM is a cool but friendly place. BDM’s styling is unique in that it’s somewhat stark, a bit severe, but, personally, I loved it. If you like lots of exquisitely made dark solid blacks, bright whites, navy blue, and khaki sports clothes, this is your kind of place. Nary a print or plaid to be seen, but a tasty selection of BDM originals, including jeans, shirts, long sleeved henleys tee shirts, jackets, etc. This fashionable menswear is somewhat monastic in tone. But in a good way. These are the sports clothes that some exiled prince might wear in an Italian monastery whilst doing penance for crimes against God Knows What. But I digress. On my first visit, I scored a long black nicely fitted 100% cotton pitch black henley tee shirt($ 57 marked down from $ 97). When Abbé liked the look of the tee, I stopped by the next day to see if they had some black jeans, they did: Moleskin denims with an extra zip pocket(reg $ 225, on sale for $ 135). And then I fell for a snap collar wool/cotton windbreaker(reg $ 395, on sale for $ 237). Apparently the BestDressedMonk concept began in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Scotland. Somehow it got transplanted in sunny, super affluent Montecito. It’s a strange concept, but like the clothes, it all works.
