This is one of my favorite places. I love it because not only is it cheap it is also ridiculously good. Yeah I’m just some white dude so take opinion as you will but this is some of the better dim sum I’ve had in LA(please send me compliments on Unilocal of better places, I love dim sum). Anyway, I usually go with the Cha Shu Bao, or the steamed pork bao, the bread is nice and sweet, the filling is more salty and tangy. A perfect compliment to one another. The texture is also wonderful. Melts in your mouth and at .85 a pop you can’t go wrong. I’ve also tried the baked version and it is just as delicious but my preference leans towards the steamed version. I have also had the Shu Mai which is also very delicious. A nice steamed and slippery noodle to compliment the shrimp. That sounds like a dirty sentence. Anyway, go here, but here is a protip. CALLYOURORDERIN. It saves so much time.

You have to get the right items to enjoy this place. Some aren’t that good but there are some really really good ones: udon, siu Mai, Zhong zi, pork bun. Very affordable as well. Cash only

I love dim sum express! The staff are nice and the food is good. Okay, it is not the best din sum, but the name of the stand is dim sum express. It will satisfy your dim sum craving and is moderately priced. I give this place 5 stars because it is fast, easy and tasty.

Wooooooow. First off, thanks to the previous reviews that recommended this place! I am so impressed and happy I came. I’ve been to a sit down dim sum restaurant in Monterey Park and let’s just say that I felt a little out of place there. So it’s nice to be able to enjoy dim sum without getting weird stares from the servers. The service was quick and the food was much better than the previous restaurant I went to. I ordered 8 sio mai, 2 shrimp dumplings of some kind, 1 pork bun, and a canned soda which came out to $ 11!!! I was full after I ate the pork bun lol. But the food was fantastic and I’m glad I chose to eat here instead of going to Chinatown or that other MP restaurant. I am definitely going back and bringing friends!

If you ever want to make a quick dim sum trip, this is the place to go! I like the fact that they have a menu paper where you can mark down the items you want; that way whenever you’re ready, you can order right away. Very quick service, PLUS! The food is delicious and affordable, I can’t complain. Unfortunately this place is cash only.

I LOVETHISPLACE, even though there isn’t a place to sit inside(it’s an outside shop like a Wienersnizel if you’ve ever been there) So you order at a window outside and they have pictures for those that might not know what you are ordering. They have a menu slip and you would just put down the quantity that you want of each item and they ring it up for you. I think the food is pretty reasonably priced & the food is good! I was a little sad to see that they didn’t have any chicken feet on their menu(fong zhou) but it was still an enjoyable experience!

This will be my second here. I always come to this place to order the party tray for my work. Sometimes we have Open Houses and need some easy snacks i come here. This place is very friendly, I told the cashier that we don’t really like some of the fried food and ask if they can substitute the shrimp instead, without any hesitation she agreed. It is around $ 35 for one party tray with 5 different kind of varieties. The lines can get long depends on what time you go so definitely pick a time where it’s not too pack. One small complaint is that they are cash only but a lot of small places like this are like that so it doesn’t bother me much. Also if you want authentic dim sum i definitely wouldn’t recommend this place, this is perfect for just a quick bite.

I happened to be lost and seen this place in my peripherals. I ordered my usual, shiu mai, har gow, baked bbq pork bun, steamed chicken bun, and beef lo mein. I only enjoyed 2 out of the 5 items I ordered. I only enjoyed the shiu mai and har gow. I was shocked to see the size of their dim sum, each one at a whopping $ 0.85-$ 0.95 could fit in the palm of my hand(see image below) For lack of word choice, the pork buns sucked. Both steamed and baked were just not in the right consistency. The baked bbq bun was too soft and the meat lacked substance. Char sui pork should be savory, not overwhelmed with sugar. The beef lo mein, you could literally taste the msg. Would never order the noodles ever again. They were salty, greasy, and somewhat recooked. I would only come back here for the shiu mai and har gow.

I’ve been here maybe three or four times and have never had a bad experience. I absolutely love dim sum and I crave them at weird times of the day and I’m glad this place closes at 7pm. I would love a 24⁄7 dim sum express but that’s probably in another lifetime :) The only thing annoying sometimes is that it’s CASHONLY, but besides that everything else is amaze balls here! We always get the same things which are the Har Gaw(shrimp dumpling), House special chow mein, house special fried rice, and egg custard. PS. they have a small parking lot in the back.

First off, I am not a Dim Sum expert(that’s why I give it two and not one star): The pork in the Dim Sum had a lot lot of sugar, the shrimp tasted extremely fishy/not fresh, and the baked Dim Sums were very greasy. I had Dim Sum in San Francisco before and liked it a lot. Of the 8 pieces we ordered here, most we thru away after tasting.

You win sum, you dim sum!(^_^) Small little stand with limited outdoor seating. This is my go to to-go dim sum spot. Especially for shui Mai and Har gow. They are huge here, like the ones I usually get in China town SF, which is why I love it. The har gow and shui mai here are not only huge but juicy and flavorful! The service is so so but it’s to go and the food & price. It is well worth the drive. The only down side I would say is that it is cash only. I never had a problem with their food here and have recommended this place to many others who loves it as well. Will definitely continue to recommend and be back for more(^_^)

It is SO cheap that I was almost afraid of what’s really inside the food. But I got sweet sesami balls and buns. oh I love buns. The parking was crowded.

I’m not sure, this place is not fancy… it’s the definition of a hole in the wall joint. A couple of outdoor picnic tables but otherwise this is a too-go place. There are pics on the outside of restaurant of their most of the menu items. I’ve been trying different things each time I come. I’ve been searching the area for the best tasting Chinese tamale and so far this place has them. I also have a deep appreciation for the Glutinous rice ball. The mango pudding is tasty… the steamed bbq pork bun also! I’ve tried a couple of their Udon noodle dishes… the house has chicken shrimp, pork and beef… and the beef Udon chowmein both were greasy and addictive. Four stars seems generous, but I’ve honestly never been disappointed coming here.

Deducting 1 star because they consistently have a «B» grade and that worries this germiphobe. Of course it’s nothing fancy. It’s exactly what you should expect to get at a walk up dim sum place. Fresh, quick and somewhat friendly. East to order ‘cuz you check the box yourself. DO check your order before leaving, though. They get busy and sometimes things get left out. If you place your order correctly and quickly, and have your cash(only) ready, you will get friendly service and fresh hot food. The har gow and siu may are huge, tender and juicy. One gentleman below said he felt the siu may was more meatball than anything else, which is exactly what I like about it. Not too much noodle. The har gow noodle is thick and chewy, but I like them like that, too. Also good: Fried pork chop with garlic rice Shrimp fried rice(didn’t care for the Yang Chow FR, though) Baked pineapple bun Steamed dumplings

Cash only! Try the turnip cake, it’s my favorite! They close early, about 7pm I think which is unfortunate because sometimes I crave their shrimp dumplings at 10pm. Mark your choices on the printed menu provided and pay for it. It will pop out the other window in a few minutes. Family owned by nice people.

Where have you been to where the food comes out quickly, and is tastier for that? Never. It is safe to say that the speedier the service, the crappier the food. Dim Sum Express is exactly what it is, and is exactly what you expect. Quick food, which is more convenient than fast, brought to you by a fairly small food stand with a pick up window. The food is alright, nothing great. Shui mai is what everyone gets for dim sum. Theirs was nothing special, and to tell you the truth, I expected better. Their bbq pork bun was along the same caliber as well. Maybe it was the«hole-in-the-wall syndrome» where I thought it would be great because of that, but it was mediocre. Their combo chow mein was good and plenty but not memorable. Even the fried pork chops were a miss. Though tasty and spicy, the crispy factor of these deep fried slabs was not there. Maybe I ordered everything wrong here, but for whatever it was, my lunch was just not what I expected. I can go to an actual dim sum restaurant and get the same stuff for a similar price. The only difference is, it would be more pleasurable. What we have here is exactly what I mentioned in the beginning. We are paying for the«express», and not the food. The convenience of just walking up to the window, ordering, and eating is just too much of a sacrifice. I wouldn’t mind waiting a little longer for something much superior to this.

I’ve been living in Monterey Park for over two decades and this place has been here ever since. I heard from my father that they changed owners awhile ago, but I’m not sure. This place is not like any other typical Dim Sum place. It’s pretty pricey, but the portions are probably twice the size at normal Dim Sum places. If you want dim sum fast this is the place, also this place serves it until 7pm weekly. The ordering process — This place has two windows, one is for making orders and the other is picking up your order. You start off by filling out a sheet of paper with all their items on it and marking how much of each you want. They also pictures on the side of the hut, if you do not know the names of the items. Once you’re done with the sheet, you give the sheet to the person inside and they tally everything up and give you a price. You pay and walk to the other window and wait for your food. Depending on what you get, most dim sum items have been already made and sit in a steamer. Unless, they sale out and have to make more. But, I notice majority of the entrée items are made fresh to order. Once you receive your order you can either take it home to it or sit on the mini picnic tables they have on the side of the hut. I would say the only thing I would order here is the siu mai and the steamed pork buns. The entrée’s look pretty good also but I have yet to try them. Also, the siu mai doesn’t contain shrimp. Parking — The parking lot here is horrible, one way entrance, one way out. I’d say just park on the street.

My favorite to go for dim sum when I’m on the go or not in the mood for a sit down one. Or when I was little, my brother would take me down here to have a snack whenever we got bored waiting for my mom to finish her doctor appointments. Came here with my mom today… she was craving her favorite #9 and we chilled in the car eating before heading down to Chinatown :) #9. Hom suey go(glutinous rice ball stuffed with minced pork): it’s the size of a tennis ball and fresh, hot and oily, but great to eat on cold days. $ 0.95 cents each. I got my favorite: #7. Har gow: shrimp dumplings at $ 0.95 each. They’re the size of a giant marble and the shrimps are huge. Sorry no pic, I gobbled it up, lol! #18. Steamed sponge cake: $ 1.25 a cubed slice — not overly sweet and super fresh and soft. #43: $ 1.50 Cold Thai ice tea — sweet and cold, especially after eating the Hom suey gok — it’s a good way to wash down the grease. Also, they’re smart to sell ice teas — you feel bad about eating the oily dim sum since teas are naturally fat burners, lol! Love this dim sum place — yummy! :)

Bit of a mixed bag, some good some very bland. The stand serves a good purpose for those wanting some Dim Sum to go. Service can be a little slow, but I didn’t mind as much since everything seemed freshly cooked and not sitting all day in steamers turning into rubber. Har how was pretty good as was the Sui mai and lotus rice. Turnip cake was a step under as it was a tad soft and the chicken chow mien and beef udon noodle were a waste of time. Also there were several items that weren’t available, I assume it was because we were there 20 minutes before closing. Prices are a tad high, but service sizes are above average as well so its kind of a wash.

What, dim sum fast food from 7:30AM to 7PM? Talk about convenience! This is one of the very few places(this and Yum Cha Café) that still sells dim sum past lunch time in the 626(San Gabriel Valley) area. No indoor seating, just 4 picnic tables sitting outside of the store. To order, you just simply write down what you want on the ordering form and give the form at the window. Not the cheapest dim sum in the area(e.g. $ 1 for one piece of siu mai here vs. $ 2~$ 3 for four pieces of siu mai at most other sit-down places), but quality of food you get here is pretty good. BBQ pork bun($ 0.95) — Not too bad, but not amazing either(3.5÷5). har gow and siu mai — A bit expensive, but each piece was pretty big. Both har gow and siu mai were yummy.(4⁄5) Egg tart — Took additional 10 minutes to prepare and it was warm and soft. Very good egg tart(4⁄5). Hom suey gok(glutinous rice, $ 0.95) — Crispy on the outside, mochi-texture-like in the inside. Interesting, but not a must order(3.5÷5). Don’t be fooled by its name, dim sum were pretty much on the spot.
