Always ask for your receipt. I ordered three items at $ 2.38 each and my bill came out to $ 9.09. I immediately thought I was overcharged and was eager to see the receipt. They didn’t give me a receipt. I had to ask for one. I was right, they overcharged me(see receipt below). $ 2.38×3 is $ 7.14NOT $ 8.34. I brought this to their attention and they told me each item is really $ 2.78 each instead of $ 2.38. Yet the receipt clearly states otherwise. I won’t be supporting these thieves ever again.

Chinese BBQ and dim sum on in 1! $ 6.50 a plate two meats one vegetable. Damnit I forgot to ask for the fatty sauce that drips down from the roasted pork.

This take-out counter is located in a shopping center that on any given day of the week is a parking lot hell. I normally wouldn’t come here, but there was something specific I was looking for at Wing Hop Fung next door. Decided to pick up a take-out plate for my husband’s lunch since I was there. There was a line almost to the door so I figured the food must be good. Had to deal with a language barrier, but managed to make myself understood for the most part. «Is that(pointing) chicken or pork?» «Yes.» Got some anyways. It was sweet sour chicken with sharp bones still in. Tried a piece and the glaze was too vinegar-y. The chow fun was dry & I advised the hubby to get the shoyu bottle. The eggplant was pretty good. I stole his soup. It was better than what you get at most Chinese take-out counters(usually a few slices of daikon or bean sprouts). There was actually some meat in there. For the price of $ 4.99 for a 3-item combo, it was a lot of food. I wouldn’t want to return for more. But the hubby’s got an iron stomach and will eat anything. He finished off the plate.

This place is disgusting. The guy cutting the ducks and pork was picking his face, nose and eyes as he was cutting up the cooked ducks and placing them in the box. And if you speak English here you will not get any service. I will not be returning here. Nastiest place in this area.

Dim sum to go on a Sunday — this was my first time visiting this to go joint. Ignore the hours on Unilocal because it stated closed! Parking was packed so I parked on the east side of Atlantic Blvd and avoided the crazy drivers. Ended up purchasing $ 30.00 worth of goodies and when I got to the nearby park and indulged — everything was surprisingly good. My last experience at my go to spot at NBC Seafood was a disappointing experience. It was pricy last time, but what was worse was that the pieces of dim sum were much smaller. That wasn’t the case here! The wrapping of the har gow and su mai were thick, large in size and stuffed with lots of yummy ingrediants. I’m was so impressed my next dim sum dine in outing will be at the sister restaurant which is located in the same shopping center.

Burnt, dried out, hard sesame balls! How do you in good conscience sell to your customers old, inedible food that has been sitting under the heating lamps all day? I could have used them for golf balls. This is a take out place, you expect a certain amount of fast foodness, but this was unacceptable. The rest of my order was ok, therefore I will give you two stars(su Mai, har how, baked bao, steamed spare ribs, Some of the items are more expensive here than the Capital Seafood restaurant next door. So, you may be better off getting your dim sum at the restaurant? Just a note: This is a cash only establishment.

Near my school :))) and it is convenient. But the thing is bad service :(. A girl afternoon!! OMG. She is so terrible and always frown with customers. She is not the owner. So i think you should change this girl.

I usually come here for some cheap dim sum every few weeks. The only thing I’d recommend is the baked char siu bao. I grew tired of their attitude over the years. I was next in line after waiting 10 mins. The lady then skipped me and started helping others and gave me a a dirty look. I waited there another 10 mins, hoping she’d come to her sense. Nope, I asked if they were going to help me. They ignored me, I’m not coming back. Usually I just stand their unusually long wait time and crappy attitude. I’m done wasting my time here.

This place is a little gem in a crazy stripe mall parking lot. On the outside you probably wouldn’t make much of this place, but once you walk in you’d think you were inside a room at the Wynn. The food here is good and efficient. I came here for dim sum so I’ll only be reviewing that. The dim sum flavor was good and they usually have a really big selection. Their har gow and shu mai are on point as well as the chicken and pork bun. I was a little disappointed with the Chinese broccoli cuz it was cold. Usually they cook it on a cart, but this time around it tasted like it was steamed and lightly fried. But, this does happen at other dim sum places I’ve been. If you’re looking for a quick dim sum place come here.

This is a great place to get take out dim sum at reasonable prices. During the week all the plates are $ 2.09. Our usuals that I can vouch for: Shumai(pork dumplings), LoMaiGai(lotus leaf sticky rice), steamed and baked bbq pork buns, and the jindui(sesame balls). The ladies there are nice and it is cash only. One time I didn’t have enough, and they will take you over to their main restaurant(which is a few stores down) and you can pay with your credit card.

I love their dim sum express that opens really early in the morning. I would buy and bring them to skiing trip every time. Price is cheap food is good and easy in and out close to freeways.

I was hangry and desperate and recognized the chain from Orange County and didn’t mind the dingy appearance. Big mistake. Should’ve checked out Unilocal first! No need to speak Chinese here. There are numbered menu items with clear pictures and descriptions of the dimsum in English. Come before 1:30 or your favorites will be sold out. They also sell BBQ pork, duck, and salted chicken. They will cut the meat for you and provide you with dipping sauce(ask as they can be stingy). I ordered to go and was sorely disappointed when I got home. The shrimp har gow was on point. However, my BBQ pork bun was tiny! 2 inches in diameter. It’s usually larger at other dimsum establishments! It also had fatty meat for the filling and cut in large pieces. Not appetizing at all. The porridge was definitely seasoned with MSG. However, one thing that was good about the porridge was that it did not skimp on the pork! Lots of meat and egg in there, which was a plus! I also ordered the wrapped bean curd with shrimp and pork inside. Super salty and oily. I ended my meal with a headache and stomachache. If I wasn’t so hangry, I would have gone to Lunasia or Empress Harbor. Learned my lesson. The parking here on a weekend at 2pm is horrible. It is very congested. Eat here and drive here at your own risk.

Came here because my friend and I were craving dim sum and she suggested this place because we were going to take it to go. I would not want to comeback here again even if this was my last resort. The service was mediocre. The old man in a white apron was grumpy and unhelpful. We asked for extra sauce for the rice plate with roasted duck and bbq pork before we left and he was angry for no reason. The bbq pork and roasted duck was not fresh at all and we came in at 12pm… Other than that dim sum was good but I don’t think I’ll be coming back here for dimsum

Came here on a recommendation to pick up some dim sum. Apparently, prices drop 20% after 4pm. We were close by and wanted to pick up a few items for the slow drive back to Arcadia(rush hour traffic) Many items were sold out. We ended up with fried taro balls, steamed taro buns, dried buttermilk chicken buns(yes, you read it right) and some other greasy tubular thing which I did not touch. The steamed taro buns were pretty good, even after microwaving it to heat it up. Soft, spongy and sweet. The fried taro balls, as you can imagine, lost its flakiness and is oily, since these should be enjoyed fresh(my bad) The buttermilk chicken bun was just weird to me. It starts off as a sweet pastry and quickly turns greasy w/bits of chicken & fat. Overall, the food was alright, and I would never crave it … ever. But there’s an old guy w/an apron behind the counter, and with true Cantonese fashion proceeded to be impatient and grumpy. Er… need a smoke break buddy? It didn’t bother me much as I expected the behavior. Perhaps picking up dim sum in the morning when the selections are plentiful, and the employees aren’t over worked yet would yield a better experience. food: 3 grumpy face: 1 * Parking lot gets full, probably because of Ranch 99, and a lot of people are idiot drivers who take several minutes to back out of a parking space, or drive down the wrong lane against traffic. Leave your Benz at home & bring the beater. * This is an extension of Capital Seafood, a banquet style restaurant, in the same plaza, at the corner spot.

Holy mother of(har) gao! I swear, if and when I have kids, they’ll come out holding a siu mai in each hand. I love dim sum. Can’t you tell? I love this place mainly because it’s solely for pick ups. Second, because I don’t have to speak Chinese to order. Their menu is in chinese and english but being a lazy person that I am, I just say the numbers. CASH only, as is 95% of Asian food places. If you don’t have enough, there’s an ATM machine(north of the plaza) right next to their main Capital BBQ restaurant. Har gao(5 stars) — AKA Xiā jio; right ratio of wrap to shrimp in this one. 4 pieces/order. Rice noodle roll(5 stars) — AKA cháng fěn; there’s 3 shrimps per roll so you’ll get full fast because of the rice wrap but who cares! It’s yummy. Don’t forget to dip it in the sauce they give you. Chicken feet(5 stars) — AKA Phoenix Claws or braised chicken feet or Fung Jow. It tastes good, not too salty so you can eat it by itself. It may look weird but sure tastes good! Siu mai(3 stars) — the pork dumplings came out too dry; at least on the outside. The inside was okay. Flavor is pretty good, too, and by that I mean you don’t need a dip to enhance the flavor nor do you need to eat it with rice. Steamed beef tripe(3 stars) — AKA Ngau Paak Yip; this came out a bit too salty for me. It’ll be good with rice. White rice, of course. Braised short ribs with pepper(3 stars) — AKA Pai Gwut; same as above. You need something bland to balance the saltiness of this one. Taro Cake(5 stars) — AKA Wu Tao Gou; this is my newest discovery. So good! Flaky, crispy on the outside and full of yummy goodness on the inside. Taro with a little hint of meat flavor? I dunno. I’ll have to order more so I can properly explain the explosion of flavors in there. #fattyexcuse This place is definitely a winner. I think I need to move to San Gabriel just so I don’t have to drive far for my fatty indulgences. Or maybe that’s a bad idea. What to do? #firstworldcountryproblems

I was 99 ranch when I noticed this jewel in the same shopping center. It was pretty late in the day so when I walked in they were out of a lot of dim sum items. I wanted to try something different so I went for the pumpkin crispy cake. This was delicious in flavor, smooth center & crunchy outside texture. Tasted like butternut squash purée inside. Really want to come & try the other items they looked so good!

Cheap eats get cheaper when you get dim sum to go. Capital Dim Sum Express is a few stores down from its parent restaurant. This is my favorite stop for freshly made BBQ ducks, roast chickens, shaomai, and chicken feet(yeah, don’t judge) etc. if you don’t have a cholesterol problem, the freshly baked egg custard is absolutely yummy. Two servings of shaomai + 1 serving of Lo Mai Gai(chicken and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, three pieces in one serving) = $ 6.80(including tax) Because the good stuff is so cheap, make sure you bring cash. Plenty of parking in the shopping square. Caution: don’t try this on the weekends! The parking then becomes WWIII because of the restaurant goers and the 99 Ranch shoppers.

This place is an extension of Capital Seafood restaurant where you can get dim sum to go. It’s in a plaza next to Kee Wa Bakery and 99 ranch– so it’s more than convenient. The service is okay, most of the time. The reason they are not getting the best review from me is because they are ALWAYS out of bbq pork buns by the last few hours of being open. My boyfriend says I am being too harsh, that dim sum is meant to be eaten for breakfast and that’s why they always run out. But that’s a poor reason because if you know that you consistently run out everyday of a certain item– why not make more so you don’t disappoint your customers? I really believe that restaurants should have the items displayed on their menu. Sheesh I understand running out sometimes, but they consistently always run out.

** 3.5 stars ** It’s cool that Unilocal is now doing Health Scores, but when I went to Capital BBQ2 weeks ago, it was a «B» not an «A». Not that that made a difference for me… in fact, I think in Monterey Park places have to be a B to be good. Love the efficiency. No waiting for a table and you can get in and out of there quickly. It looks like from other reviews that you can even get it to go. Great to satisfy a craving when you don’t have a lot of time on your hands or just don’t want to deal with the hassle. As for the dim sum… a-okay. They had all the typical dim sum dishes(pus xiaolongbao that were quite good and they don’t usually have at dim sum) and everything was good. Not great, but good. I think NBC’s quality is a little bit better but not drastically. I’d come back here for sure if NBC was too busy.
