Not the best impression for ordering take out. My dad and I wanted to celebrate Valentines day with sushi so I decided to drive 5 blocks away from my house to order some. I walked in and a hostess greeted me. She was mumbling and didn’t know what she said so I politely asked her again to repeat what she said. She said that she will call a hostess to help me out. She walked away and I stood there with no menu in my hand, no one to tell me where I can order… just standing there. So I went over to a table and grabbed a menu that was just there. A hostess finally comes over and I ask her questions about the valentine’s day uni special. She looks confused and walks away to ask the chef if I’m allowed to order uni for take out. Then she comes back asked writes my order down on her pad. I then ask of she has eel askndmd avocado hand roll and she says no… and I’m just thinking how hard can I be to make an eel and avocado hand roll… is this not a sushi place? So then a guy standing next to her mumbles in her ear and she’s like okay so one eel and avocado hand roll? And I say yes so she writes it down. Then I order a bunch of other stuff and pay for it. I look at my receipt and it says –dragon roll –hand roll and she charged me 3.95 for it when the hand roll on the menu is just 2.45. $ 3.95 was the price for a dragon roll… but I didn’t make a big deal about it for just a dollar more. When I got home I looked at my hand roll and it had no avocado in it. What??? If you’re going to charge me a dragon roll… why don’t you make it so that it looks like a dragon roll(WITHAVOCADO) so technically I just paid $ 4 for eel and rice roll. Ugh how annoying. The rainbow roll was cold. Salmon sushi was room temperature… I guess that’s what I get for take out. It’s been hot in cali but I was only 5 minutes away from gatten. As I speak my stomach feels a little bit weird. Hope it’s not the sushi. Probably won’t come back again for take out.

Neat little place, I’ve been coming here every time I visit California and I believe they have a new management and their plates got more expensive. Their sushi taste surprisingly fresh despite that the fish on the nigiri was warm. Their uni is amazing every time I grab it but I don’t think it’s worth $ 6.50 for two pieces anymore. Staff is friendly and attentive, as soon as you walked in and seated you’re shouted«WELCOME» Only down side is their prices raised.

Came here earlier today for dinner around 8pm. The service was prompt and friendly but we did come on a tuesday night. The concept is cool with a revolving sushi bar, and they label all of the items as well so you know what you’re picking up. Each dish color represents a different cost and they also show the cost on little signs with the sushi. The sushi itself was okay. I’m slightly scared by sushi that has been sitting out for who knows how long versus being freshly made. I know the chefs put the sushi on the revolving table and they replenish it as it is being taken by the customers, but on a slow night like a tuesday I was worried that the fish had been sitting out for quite a while before I picked up that particular plate. Also the pricing for the sushi is quite expensive considering it is just a small place and the sushi was not super impressive. Me and my friend got about 5 – 6 dishes of sushi(each plate had about 4 pieces of sushi or 2 pieces of the sashimi) and we also ordered udon bowl which was enough to fill us both. we purposely did not pick expensive items, most things we ordered were within the $ 3 dollar price range except the udon bowl was $ 6 dollars. The price came out to be about 32 dollars which is ok for sushi but the quality of the food didn’t justify the price tag.
