A SECRETPLACE No one has heard of it. It’s hard to find. Walk up an old metal staircase behind a Chinese supermarket, then down a long empty hallway. «WTF, am I at the right place?» The hallway opens to a dining area with worn carpets. Signs with cryptic writing offer specials for those privy. A handful of diners enjoying mutton offals and sauteed snails are speaking softly, their secrets dancing back and forth. Forget Wolvesmouth and all those faux-clandestine supper clubs that try extra hard to create a mysterious meal in someone’s home. This HERE is the genuine underground shit… as in, «Shit, this place is off-the-grid surreal», and«Shit, why’s there an iPhone just sitting there on the floor being charged?», and«Shit, there’s a vacuum cleaner beside my chair». A beautiful waitress with a stoic face that warns«don’t even try» brings me the one dish that she said to try: «Braised Meat in Preserved Sauce Hand Made Noodle». There are actually 2 items identically named as such on the outlander(English) menu. She had clued me in: the $ 7.59 one… the spicy one. Thick sheets of chewy noodles kneaded by hand are bathed in an oil sauce that’s slightly spicy and sour. Several pieces of tender meat and veggies complete it. I bob my head in approval as I chew the B M i P S H M N. All the other noodles I’d eaten before today are pathetically insignificant now. Shit, I’ve finally hit the«oooo» in noodles.

This place uses the old bate and switch with their signs. At the door there is a spicy chicken for $ 5.99. Inside the spicy chicken is gone, and you are left with Sauteed Spicy Boneless Chicken for $ 12.99. The dish is very good, but not worth the money. The Three Mix Dishes are just cold cut, but the husband and wife cold cut has too much celery. All other husband and wife cold cut has beef only. This is the only place that is different. The Specialty Beef Noodle is from Xian. It is a clear oil based broil. Taste good, but there is a oily feel to it. Not my favorite. I like the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup better with their thick aroma broil. This place is generally over price. The foods are good for the most part, but no second visit for me.

I saw 14 reviews and almost 5 star rating… very fishy. I went there anyway to eat with wife & parents. It was close in distance and I wanted noodles. We ordered a few hand made noodles and the«braised meat in preserved sauce with handmade noodle» Their hand made noodles were WOW!!! Their soup, sauce, meat were just extra toppings on top of their exception hand made noodles! I will be back.

Ever since visiting NYC and eating at Xi’an Famous Foods, I have been craving Xi’an food. I found this place through Unilocal. It is located on the second floor of a plaza with Hong Kong Supermarket. The entrance is on the left side from the building. There is a staircase that leads to the restaurant. My friend grew up eating Xi’an cuisine as a child in China. She almost teared up eating Xi’an Tasty’s handmade noodle with lamb soup because it reminded her of the food her grandfather used to make for her. She said Xi’an Tasty’s lamb noodle soup is very authentic and comforting. We ordered mutton skewers as well. It was much better than lamb skewers I have had at Feng Mao. When I visited the second time, I ordered braised meat in preserved sauce hand made noodle. This was delicious! It was even better than the one I had from Xi’an Famous in NYC!!! This will be our go to Xi’an restaurant from now on. I hope more people will know about this place so it will not go out of business.

Bomb simple Northern Chinese food — spicy sautéed lamb, 2″ inch thick noodles, broth soup, string potato dish. Prices range around $ 10.99. They take credit card. Restaurant looks cleaner and nicer than the exterior looks. Located upstairs of Hong Kong supermarket. Free parking lot. There is a front and back entrance. Bad location for customers with disabilities. I was surprised to not see as many families, older folks, and such here. Then I realized I barely made it up two story of stairs to get to the restaurant… thank goodness I’m off my cane now, and they have rails, sticky rails.

This is a very good restaurant. I was traveling to CA and was looking for some good Chinese food. I was going to Chengdu Taste, but they were closed by the time I got there(3PM) and I decided to try this one as I picked this restaurant to try based on the lists of good Chinese food in the area. When I was there, I thought they were closed because no one was in there. The waitress was very nice, showed me all the pictures of the food she recommend, I never has Shanxi(Xi’an) food before. The order came in a timely manner and I really enjoyed it. The only thing is that they are rather pricy, but I was expecting that because it is in LA area and that they don’t take card payment unless it is over $ 25, but they did take my card transaction politely. I will come back again with my family next time if we decide to go LA again.

The price is reasonable, food is traditional shanxi food. The people here are very hospitable. I will highly recommend it!

Pretty authentic cuisine here! Would recommend if you miss xian cuisine. Their lamb kabobs are juicy and flavorful. The pao mo(lamb and bread stew) lacked a bit of flavor but still pretty good. Loved their spicy cold noodles too!

The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Servers are very attentive as well, although you’ll probably get a better service if you speak Mandarin. Spicy handmade noodle with Beef Brisket– The spice they used for this dish is the ma la kind, which basically translates to numb and spicy. It’s a very different kind of spicy that will make your mouth feel weird. The noodle is good and the briskets are also cooked pretty well. Braised meat in preserved sauce with handmade noodle — My favorite dish of the meal, the preserved sauce gave the noodle a nice tangy finish which was very appetizing. The meat was also marinated really well. Pork and Cabbage Dumplings in spicy and sour soup — I loved the dumplings! they were really meaty and the dumpling skin was thin but chewy. The soup was very interesting, it looked really spicy with pepper seeds floating on top, but it actually just had a kick with this sourness to it. Yum!

the food hits the spot! My mom isnt exactly an adventurous eater, however she liked the biang biang chili noodles. I love the sauce and even took some to put into my handmade noodles in beef stew. And omgg, I’m a sucker for fat noooodos. The place doesn’t look too clean, looks like a hole in the wall Chinese version. But for the price, for that sauce, and those pulled noodles, I’d come back again. Oh and also easy parking as well.

The restaurant is very close to my home. It is lucky to find a place that serve the tradition Xi’An food nearby. I order the Liang Pi and beef noodle soup. The noodle is handmade. It is pretty good. Strongly Recommend

I am surprised there aren’t more customers when I come here. This place is amazing. I am a fan of the wide noodles and the fried cold noodles. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

This is a newly open Northern Chinese food(Xi An style). We tried their lamb skewers, haggis soup, and Chinese lamb hamburger. All dishes are made per order, so very fresh. Hopefully, they will be able to sell some beer soon. A good pace for Xi An street food!
