Cappuccino was good. I ordered protein scramble nothing worth writing home about. They took our order incorrectly so we were not served at the same time. One plate came out and we had to wait 10 minutes before we realized the second was not coming. We brought it to the servers attention. Another 15 minutes went by and we finally got our other plate of food. Not exactly the best experience especially for the price point.

What a great coffee /caffe /foodie place in Monterey! We came for breakfast. The egg’s Benedict(with sausage) was recommended and was a wonderful surprise. Potatoes were good, though I like mine with more fresh italian spices. Coffee was better than Starbucks and Peets. Would love to see/taste some traditional Italian breakfast biscuits like polenta amore or biscotti etc. I think the baked goods would sell well! This is a do again!!!

A perfect place to start the morning. For us coffee lovers, it is a treat to find such a tremendous, smooth, dark rich coffee. It goes down easily and makes that early morning brain fog go away. And even though I am not used to paying for refills, what the heck… for 80 cents, it will not break the bank, and this way I can make sure the old ticker accelerates to warp speed. Is it because it is the brainchild of an Italian immigrant family who have been in the business of selling espresso here since 1956, and they might possibly know what they are doing by now? And what a surprise to discover the beans are roasted and labeled under their own name. Hey, I would buy it… so…how do I buy… more? Then comes the sundry choices for a decent breakfast. And there are many, and not your ordinary, ho hum list. When in a beach town, we can’t help but think seafood. So, there you go, a crab scramble it was for the two of us. A generous amount of crab, roasted red bell pepper, swiss cheese, all fresh ingredients, and all so agreeable to the tummy, making this a most wonderful breakfast. Add some good rye toast to help scoop that lovely mess onto your fork, then kick back, savor the coffee, relax, and maybe even people watch. We could have called it quits right there, but really, a Belgian waffle topped with fresh fruit was calling my name. But, alas, it could have been better. I like them really crisp. This was not. And the fruit on top(strawberries and blueberries) were not any more satisfying, since February is a rough time to expect sweet fruit. Ok, unreasonable of me, ya’ can’t win them all, but I dare you to pass by the dessert/pastry case without doing a double take. You probably would not believe I had such will power to do so, but the plans for the day included many more indiscretions, so I let guilt guide me… this time. But next time… no waffle… yes, pastry. Loved the quaint coffeehouse ambiance, appreciated the friendly vibes, and I would definitely be drawn there the next time I found myself in historic, downtown Monterey, whether it be breakfast or lunch or dinner.

This has a charm about it. They open fairly early for a city that doesn’t get up too early. Tables are not all crowded together like some other nearby places. Walk up ordering and then table service with your order. Help yourself to utensils and water. Had an omelet and it was good. Cappuccino was tasty. Coffee was very good. Prices were better than some nearby establishments. Strongly recommend.

From the outside it’s hard to tell what kind of place it’s going to be… hole-in-the-wall or hidden gem? This place gets such great reviews on Unilocal so why not give it a try(besides, my husband and I aren’t in love with the local selection as it is)? Turns out this place is really nice inside complete with warm wooden tables, beverages served in mason jars and a wide variety of food to choose from. It definitely has that low-key, cool coffee place feel that is locally owned and they have free wi-fi. Great music selection too, can’t go wrong with Mumford and Sons! We ordered breakfast for dinner and it came out quickly, was fresh and tasty! The service was nice,-you don’t have a server but they do check-in with you and are friendly. There dessert choices look very yummy although we didn’t indulge this time many people came in just for that. So…hidden gem, check it out!

Interesting décor in this lovely town of Monterey. I remembered the foods were quite enjoyable and coffee strong and flavorful, we ordered an extra Napoleon pie. It was good, but on the sweet side. The key is to enjoy the ambient: bench and wooden chairs, high-ceiling, interesting choice of background music. Many clearly do regularly.

If you are ever visiting the Monterey area, you must come here! A nice little café/coffee shop where my wife and I had breakfast while visiting the area. If there were more places like this, I think Starbucks would go out of business because this is the real deal. The breakfast potatoes are to die for and the hot chocolate is bomb-diggity. This is just one of those spots where you can go and sit for hours just relaxing or reading a book or socializing with friends. I’ve never tried the other menu items other than breakfast since we’ve only been here once, but if the rest of the food is of the same quality then I would highly recommend it. Very friendly staff too! Just give it a try if you’re in the area!

we came here for desserts… and it did not disappoint! So good. We had the perfect chocolate cake and there was a good variety of other things too(I never stray from chocolate though haha) and it had a super good, chill atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for. It seemed like they had pretty good food options too so I would come back to try the food!

I came here for breakfast on a weekend. It appears to be a nice little joint in the heart of downtown in walking distance from the pier. It is self serve which is fine but then again, it is poorly organized. From the cashier, milk and condiments station is at another end away from the cutleries. So I made 3 trips just for my table already. Why not pre place napkins and cutleries on the table? Just a novel idea … We had a sampling of omelets which are all just ok. It was dry and underwhelming. Also they charge for coffee refills, like really? The only stand out was the smoked salmon bagel which was really excellent. I’ll be back only if it was convenient, I would not go out of the way for this

I came here while on vacation because I wanted a waffle and latte. I was very impressed with the crispness of the waffle even until the last bite. The waffle never got soggy. The fresh fruit was ripe and added a great variety of flavor. The latte was fantastic. My boyfriend ordered the 4 egg omelet with mushrooms spinach and sausage and a side of potatoes and toast. The omelet was cooked to perfection. A++

Dessert! Coffee! Entertainment! Tonight, we stretched the«carbo loading» excuse pretty far. Monkey do: CARROTCAKE– good CHOCOLATEFONDANT– better SALTEDCARAMELAFFOGATO– best PECANBAR– awesome treat that got divided into 6 bites on the road :(Do get yours and be greedy! We really shouldn’t be here after our big dinner the night before our race, but having walked from our hotel… we might as well. So many treats to choose from. Plenty of seating inside, additional seating outside. Street parking. Order at the counter and they’ll give you a numbered stand, pick your seating and they’ll bring out your order. Super friendly and helpful staff no matter how busy they were on this saturday night. Monkey enjoyed live entertainment: Johan Sotelo Incredibly tempting to step off the race course the following morning to just chill out and enjoy morning coffee instead! If Monkey lived closer, this would definitely be my GoTo Coffee House.

This is a café in Old Monterey that’s steeped with some jazz tradition, based on the selection of prints and articles on the far wall. We’ve been here a few times and they have pretty decent espresso service and we went for breakfast this morning. We had the waffles and they were pretty good — blueberries, bananas, and strawberry to top it off too. The combo comes with two eggs and bacon. For the bacon lovers, they do theirs extra crispy, which is fine by me. The prices are ok, with a coffee the bill came out to around $ 25 for two people. Service was decently friendly and the only thing I am a little puzzled about is whether its a sit down restaurant or not. We always order at the counter but I could have swore I watched a table come in and do their orders seated. Not a big deal and before I had coffee, so it may have been an illusion. We’ll definitely continue to come here and recommend it to those who are looking for an espresso from a place with authenticity.

I’m vegetarian and was so happy to find they had a Veggie Pasta that actually had vegetables in it, not just sauce! Pasta tastes good too! One less star coz the bread did not taste fresh, in fact it tasted a little stale:(and I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I would otherwise. The lady at the counter was very nice and helpful. On a quiet afternoon, this is such a lovely place to be in!

Came here for breakfast. We ordered a chorizo scramble and a brioche French toast. Both were very good although my favorite was the chorizo scramble. The plate comes with perfectly prepared scrambled eggs with chorizo and some greens and great oven roasted potatoes. To top that we have some chai latte with soy milk equally great. Will come back :)

Came here because we were starving and couldn’t find the bagel place we were looking for. Ordered a bagel sandwich which was actually pretty good. Onion bagel with sausage, egg and cheddar cheese. Boyfriend got French toast with 3 eggs and bacon. It came with some potatoes which were really good. He got his French toast first and when we were all done, that’s when his eggs and bacon arrived so he was pretty upset about it and didn’t even want his food anymore because… what’s the point. Anyways, the food was good but the wait was a tad long and inside the café it was super hot like we immediately started sweating and I have no idea how anyone could have eaten inside. Also, the display of my food looked like a child put it on the plate so it looked very unappealing at first so I was super surprised when the food was actually good.

This is the spot for Sunday morning breakfast! Boy is it popular. We had to spot out a table quick! We had a big party at our house and lots of out of town guests for breakfast. We also had a few local friends to meet and so this was an easy decision on a meeting spot. Service was friendly despite hope crowded they were. They did a good job of managing the crowd though. It was easy to get a few cups of coffee and cappuccino at the beginning but it took a little while for the food to come. Never the less, the breakfasts were delicious. I tried the daily special of French toast brioche and it was like dessert!
