Hungry after a long day at the beach we stumbled across this place near our hotel, and I am a ph’o junkie, I have to try it everywhere I can! We started with pork vietnamese egg rolls, which were great. My son ordered the BBQ pork chop and rice, he devoured it! My niece ordered won ton soup and said it was amazing. I of course had the ph’o with sliced beef, shrimp, and brisket. Was a little disappointed as there were 2 small shrimp in the whole bowl, but for the price I wasn’t going to whine. My girlfriend had the sweet and sour chicken, and I have to say I kept stealing bites, it was great! My gf also tried an almond joy slush with boba, liked the flavor but not the boba. Niece had a green apple tea with boba, and my son and I had kiwi lemondaes which were amazing! I only rated it 3 stars due to the service, it took awhile to get drinks, and the man who took our order kept trying to hurry us up and cut us off, which I just decided not to order all the appetizers we wanted since he was in such a hurry.

Every time we go to Monterey, it’s been our go to eatery. They serve some top notch drinks too! I always have to splurge and order up their bubble tea… it’s too good to pass up. My kids love their popcorn chicken. Their phở is pretty good, but I think I prefer their other rice dishes and offering. I haven’t ordered anything I haven’t liked so far and we’ve been there 5 times. The staff there is always courteous and we always receive great service. This place is a winner!

Went in for dinner and it was super busy, but we got seated right away, it was one of the best phở I’ve ever had and the prices were really good and affordable. They have a huge selection when it comes to boba, I tried the thai tea slush It was really good, will try other flavors next time

If I could give this place more stars I would. The prices are ridiculously low and the food is amazing. We ordered the chicken wings, Vietnamese egg rolls, popcorn chicken, house fried rice, chowmein, 2 different orders of phở and drinks and our bill was $ 70. We came in at the right time because while we sat and ate the place was packed and there was a line out the door. Everyone was nice and attentive, I have no complaints. I wish I had a place like this closer to where I live.

This is a pretty good fast/casual Vietnamese place. I drop in frequently because I love their banh mi and bubble tea, although the phở leaves something to be desired. It’s not bad, but it’s not excellent. It’ll do in a pinch.

Good food for a great price in Monterey. I was astonished by the prices and more amazed with the taste of the food. Only drawback is the place is small and you will find it hard to find a seat unless you order to go.

Great prices, and great food! We were visiting the area, and this restaurant happened to be next to our hotel. My parents were visiting from Taiwan, and they crave for Asian food. Since the location was close, we went there for dinner. It was packed with people, but it only took less than 10 mins to get seated. The staffs were friendly, and the service was decent for a busy place like this. We had ordered food and drinks for 5 people, and the price was around $ 45. Very impressive! All of our food was good other than the Udon my sister ordered was way too salty(Common, who orders Udon in a Vietnamese place? Get Phở please!) Due to the good experience that night, we actually come back the next day for lunch. No doubt, good food still and good price. Strongly recommend to people looking for good pricing and quality food.

Great asian food in Monterey. We will definitely come back! We ordered lemon grass platter, spicy soup and spicy chicken wing. They were all delicious. They also make great boba drinks, which is a big plus!!!

We were in town for a few days in Monterey and stumbled across this restaurant on our second-to-last day. To be honest, we were a bit wary because of the name, but after reading some positive reviews, we decided to give it a try. It’s no frills, but very solid, inexpensive Vietnamese food. I’m not Vietnamese myself, but it seemed pretty authentic, as far as I can tell from my prior experience with a wide variety of Vietnamese restaurants in the Bay Area and in Houston. The first night, my boyfriend got the lemongrass chicken stir fry and I got the vegetarian phở. Both good choices. We liked it so much, we came back the next night for dinner(he got pork phở, I got the wonton soup, and we got an order of vegetarian spring rolls and the fried banana dessert), and ordered Bahn mi(the lemongrass chicken with an egg added) sandwiches to go both nights. I would say that our favorites were the sandwiches, stir-fry, and phở. The wonton soup was good, but didn’t have as many noodles as I would have liked. The spring rolls were also very good. The fried banana dessert was tasty, but nothing spectacular.

Thumbs up. Drove by and always wanted to try so one night me and the fam decided to give it a go. Staff is friendly and efficient. Placed a to go order and only had to wait about 10 min for order to finish. Tried the egg noodle stir fry and the glass noodle stir fry. Very good flavor. Very good quality meat — chicken and beef. My only issue was the noodles — you don’t get very many. I ran out of noodles long before the veggies. So a little disappointed with that. I really like it here though and would come back again. It’s the kind of good food that one could def get a craving for from time to time, lol. Prices are decent. Food is a little hard on the tummy but it may just be me being sensitive to the spices. Good stuff and a must try.

Stared with vegetarian spring rolls which were fresh with delicious peanut sauce. Got the standard beef phở and house fried rice. Both were great! I especially loved the fried rice, it was extremely flavorful. No complaints.

What a wonderful find! My wife and I split a large(extremely large!) bowl of won-ton soup, shared an order of spring rolls and each had a sandwich of our own! Too much to eat for sure. We decided we should have cut something, but what? All of it was so delicious. The bread was crusty, the spring rolls came with a yummy warm peanut dipping sauce and the soup had lots of glass noodles, fresh veggies, and won-tons. We would eat here again, for sure! Staff here was friendly and service was fast even on a busy Friday evening. They were attentive and cared about what we thought about the food.

No star !!! I rate this no star but it won’t post without one star. Just like kids Little League everybody’s a fucking winner, in this case though, they are losing out. We walked in 10 min before closing time & they said they were done serving. That’s okay, we won’t be back. If they don’t care about the customers they sure won’t care about their food either. It’s sad when a business would rather go home than do what they are supposed to do. It’s not really that big of a disappointment because I’ve heard their food is really not that good anyway. Go there at your own risk.

********************* 1284 ********************** Odd location by itself along the strip of all the motels here, not the best neighborhood, but it’s a Vietnamese restaurant, a few rare ones in Monterey. Food is definitely NOT authentic. The wonton soup has broccoli and mushroom, trust me I love veggies, but I wasn’t expect that! The BUNBOHUE Vegetarian bowl was surprisingly delicious, generous portion, much cheaper than what I pay in San Jose and San Francisco. Friendly and quick service, clean restaurant, and CHEAPEAT. So if you need a quick fix, this place would come to the rescue! Don’t expect authentic food like we have in San Jose, but this is as good as it gets here.

I dont see why people are so picky ab this place!!! Hmm — im myself a big pearl tea person… own one shop in bay area myself: p thats how much i like pearl tea. So we stopped by to get milk tea since i cant go longer than 5 days during this vacay. –very decent house milk tea and cantalop ice tea. One tip thou: the pearls alone werent soft enough and sweet inside out, well?!! This is a full menu restaurant HeLLo?!! Give them a break! Im jus happy and appreciative for what they offer –snack, foods, noodle soups, tea: total we got 4 cups of boba tea, 2 bowls of noodles soup, calamari, springroll, for the two of us. We were simply happy. –service is friendly and quick! Bonus ! Yes, give a try if you are not looking for some kinda high end picky dining place

This has to be one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have ever dined at(and I have dined in the famous Vietnamese restaurants in DC). Plenty of food for a great price. The flavors of the Phở broth was just right and the stir fried egg noodles… wow! The wait staff were super friendly and the meals came out quickly. I highly recommend this place for those that crave some Vietnamese food or some boba tea. I know, for sure, we will be back.

So as a visitor to Monterey, I cannot comment on the comparison of this location to the Seaside one. Nor have I been to their competitor in town referenced in other reviews I’ve read here. But I have had a few gallons of phở in my lifetime(albeit not in one sitting) so I think I know enough. I know it’s pronounced like ‘fuh’ and not ‘faux’ so that’s better than a lot of people, amiright? Moving on. When we found the hotel we were staying at nearby, I saw the sign for Chopstix and immediately dismissed it as some westernized sticky, overly sugary, imitation Asian food joint. No thanks. But after settling in and trying out other places around, I got on Unilocal to see what the late night dinner options were and Chopstix popped up. Specifically, pictures of the food popped up. If there are two Asian menu items I cannot resist, they are fresh spring rolls and vegetable phở. So I gave the menu a look and I couldn’t believe the prices! $ 5.50 for a huge serving of phở with all the fixin’s? That’s crazy. Traditionally, phở comes with a basic broth of your choice and side items you can mix in at your discretion like sprouts, basil, jalapenos, sriracha, hoisin, and soy sauce. I kept waiting for the opportunity to say to myself, «Ah, I knew it was too good to be true» .but it never happened. The food was great, the prices were super cheap, and I wished we’d gotten a chance to order from them a second time on our stay. My dad had the Mandarin chicken wings, and he said he was surprised at the high quality flavor for such a low price too. I think the average price for any item on the menu was $ 5. Hell, I’ve paid more for edamame! I know a lot of these reviews seem to be splitting hairs about who has the best Vietnamese food in Monterey, but it’s really hard to go wrong with food this high-quality AND low priced.
