Highway 68 is crowded at rush hour and dangerous with everyone being in a hurry to get to their destinations. It is a nice paved road that takes your from the PG area to Salinas. Laguna Seca is located off of the highway as well as Ryan Ranch and the SPCA. There are some nice residential neighborhoods in the area too. I try to avoid 68 during rush hour, other wise its a nice little drive. It would be nice if they would make the road two lanes on both sides in each direction the entire way, but that probably wont be happening any time soon if at all.

Highway 68 is another problem in Monterey County. TAMC(Transportation Agency Monterey County) consistently ignores the capacity problem on Highway 68 from Monterey to Salinas. Every morning and afternoon you can expect the chronic clog on the two lane portion towards Spreckels. For me it’s the only way outta town if I need to get down to SLO or Southern California via Spreckels Boulevard. So how about it TAMC? Quit dreaming about your trolley service, six lanes on 101, and the overbudgeted Salinas Road ramp in Pajaro. Put some dough into Highway 68, because there’s where we need capacity improvement!

aka the Monterey-Salinas Highway The paved path that takes you from Pacific Grove to Salinas and vice versa can be hectic during rush hour but a smooth cruise otherwise. I’ve had some interesting experiences on 69 I mean 68(69 was my high school field hockey jersey number). Let’s see… recently had higway patrol chase me(but I had no idea, my music was blasting) and then almost had a taser gun drawn to my face… that was interesting… I’m actually doing traffic school online right now. Horrendous. I got pulled over once and luckily wasn’t driving and had the cop ask, «License and registeration» Super Troopers style… as the driver pulled out his license, I was frantically looking for something… the cop asked,“Are you having trouble finding it Miss?” I snapped back, «No, I can’t seem to find my ketchup.» He did not like that answer, it was my car. We had just stopped at Jack in the Crack and I was getting a little hungry after our little outing full of booze. Surprising he let us all off, the driver wasn’t drunk but had a few. I was done. So I guess those 2 experiences balance each other out. Well sort of. On a different note — I think some people would agree with me but 68 has a highrate of Road Kill. I swear, there is something on the road everyday. Lately a lot of skunks have been the victim so I’ve got to say 68 stinks.
