Minimalist coffee latte stop but ok. Having usual 2 shots expresso with coffee poured over and raw sugar. Honey is small packets. Too much trouble. Probably not return.

Just tried to get coffee and they are closed when Unilocal shows they are open. Fix your hours.

The barista was really cool and easy to talk to while he made my latte. Great quick stop if you need some decent coffee on the go! Plus if you go to there big brother pub«the bulldog», stop by the dog to get some sobering coffee drinks!

It says they close at 2pm but we were told to go for late night eats and it didn’t disappoint! Jeremiah and his coworker were awesome, friendly and made a mean dog! The actual meat(hot dog) was so delicious. Was it my 1am hungry belly talking? No one will ever know. I had the chili cheese dog and it was like heaven in my sleep-deprived state. Perfect!

Utterly terrible customer service. Don’t go here if you can help it. The space is ugly, and the staff think their facebook is more important than their customers.

Stopped by for a late breakfast/early lunch after reading about their«toasties» and«butties» in the Best of Monterey Bay Wine and Dine supplement to the Monterey County Weekly. The toasties are basically grilled cheese sandwiches without all the greasy butter. We tried the versions with onion and tomato(we chose sourdough bread). I was partial to the onion one. Good value – a sandwich and 16 oz coffee – good, hot coffee – for only $ 5. Excellent, friendly service.(And they have glazed donuts from Reds!)

Love the Dog since they feed the drunky drunks next door late night! Anna B. is right… they aren’t the best hot dogs in the whole world nor are they gourmet by any means but they sure do the job!

This review is for the coffee shop that operates here during the day. The hot dogs in the evening are crap(I hear) but the coffee and bagels are excellent.

On my way back from picking up lunch for the office at Babaloo this past Friday, I strolled past The Dog. I’ve been intrigued by this shop for the past few months. After Miriam’s closed up shop, The Bull Dog next door took over this shop, serving up hot dogs by night.(That didn’t sound right, did it?) It’s about time the Monterey Peninsula got on board with gourmet junk food. Well, apparently The Dog has now expanded their hours to serve coffee and bagels by day. I’ve been wanting to check them out for some time now, but never seemed to be there at the right time to satisfy my coffee craving. Take for example, last Friday: I was dying for coffee, but didn’t have a free hand to carry another cup, plus I was running to an afternoon meeting. So Saturday, I decided to make a leisurely stroll from my apartment over to Monterey to meet a friend for lunch. It was the perfect excuse to get out and about before the rain came and sample coffee at The Dog. The shop is pretty small, and honestly not the most inviting from the outside. But the barista inside was friendly and welcoming, sitting down and chatting with a regular when there wasn’t a line.(It’s always comforting to see coffee shops build relationships with their regulars.) I ordered a latte($ 3.50) to go. Since I was on my way to meet a friend for lunch, I decided to skip ordering any food – but the bagels(or as The Dog calls them, «baygulls») sounded tasty. The latte was quite hot, so I had to wait a bit before I could take a sip. When I did, I was impressed how smooth the espresso was. There was no burnt or bitter after taste, just espresso. It could have been a little bolder, in my opinion, but that might reflect my recent tendency toward strong Blue Bottle coffee over at Happy Girl Kitchen in PG. But don’t get me wrong, The Dog served up a great cup of coffee. I’d love to go back and try more of the menu – and some of the baygulls. Just remember, The Dog is cash only, so make sure you stop by the ATM before you get your caffeine fix!
