I came here with Gun. right before he moved away to New York. It was also a thank you for filling in for me during cross country practice. I got the avocado roll and the tofu teriyaki. He got the chicken teriyaki or something. The tofu was meh. Not really into that soft jaunt. The sushi: meh I was super attracted to the fob server and so we were debating if I should ask for her number. Damn I could feel my heart beating a little right before I was going to ask. Alright so remember that our waitress is a fob. I ask for her number, but she claims that she doesn’t understand! She thinks I want a business card with the restaurant’s phone number. «Sure!» I say. Then I clarify that I want her number. «Oh, you don’t have a cell phone? It’s cool! Have a good night!»

I love good sushi, Yaraku in Germantown was my favorite but this one is closer and just as good so it may be my new favorite. The place was clean, nicely appointed, portions were generous for the cost. We got 3 specialty rolls to split among 2 adults and it was hard to finish. Just the right combination of flavors and portions. We will be back and we will be bringing our sushi loving friends.

Further experience has not been positive either for food or service. Food consistently mediocre and the staff sometimes seem to forget that anyone is there.

I like the sushi in this place, it’s good, excellent service. The chef’s specials are my favorite, like the butterfly roll and the rainbow roll.

Came here about a week or so ago with my friend and we ordered the Yoshiya Boat it was delicious. The food was fresh we got to pick 2 of the rolls ourselves for an extra $ 5? I don’t remember but it was good. They also gave us complimentary Moochi ice cream afterward. The only down side was our waitress was a bit daft, when we finished our boat I stacked everything neatly on the boat and put it infront of the table so it would be easier for her to clear out. She came with the Moochi Ice cream and instead of clearing the boat off or puting the ice cream at a different spot on the table she put the ice cream on top of the dirty dishes on the boat. She also took forever to refill my water and she never came back to check up on us.

The california rolls had cucumbers in it… yuck. And the rolls were too small. However the chicken teriyaki box was tasty. I will stick to I Love Sushi in Rockville.

I’ve come here a couple times now since my friend lives in the area and the sushi is good, not great. Looking over the menu I saw they had 47 specialty rolls. FORTY-SEVEN! I’m way too indecisive to choose so when the waiter came over for like the third time asking me if I was ready I just randomly chose the Dinosaur Roll. It was a shrimp tempura roll topped with avocado, eel and eel sauce. It seemed kind of small to me to be considered a «specialty roll» and didn’t fill me up. It was still tasty though. I’ve also tried the soft-shell crab app and it was really good and I liked the sauce that came with it. It was a small crab but me and my friend split it anyways. And the regular rolls that I’ve had(eel and avocado, spicy crunchy tuna, sweet potato, etc) seem pretty standard. Service was fast and our waiter was very attentive. I’d probably come back, but only if my friend is too lazy to come to Gaithersburg with me to my fave sushi spot.

I always enjoy this place! Very good sushi and friendly staff. I love spicy foods and asked them to make sushi extra spicy. The added red peppers was wicked good! Can’t wait to order more with that intensity of heat.

I picked up sushi here to go a few months back. It was ok; nothing to rave about. Maybe I just visited on the wrong day. Try it out for yourself but I will probably stick to other places for sushi.

Wilson is an awesome sushi chef here. We bellied up to the sushi bar tonight and ordered 8 different rolls including the ebi and sashimi. Everything was absolutely delicious, we had a great time too!

I ate here about 10 times until I had the most HORRIBLE restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I am so busy with my work now that I don’t have time to write Unilocal reviews however I feel compelled to share this story: In the past month I spent at least $ 1,000 at this restaurant and tonight the waitress, who’s father is the owner, accused me of stealing a wine glass(with alcohol) from their restaurant two days ago(I come here twice a week) when I did not do that. She waited until after I tipped her the usual 20% to confront/accuse me. I thought it was incredibly offensive and insulting. And I will never come back.

Not our usual experience here. Our rolls were skimpy and some of the ends were lacking in fish. One of the rolls we ordered came out wrong, had to ask for it to be corrected and then got charged for the roll we did not want. Waiter also forgot our soup and salad. May not be back.

Most hilarious menu ever! Screaming Salmon… Victoria Secret Roll… Sexy Jalapeño! HA! Love it. No, it’s not authentic sushi by any stretch of the imagination, but this is MoVi and our options are slender(although, given a choice, I would definitely drive the extra 5 minutes and take a chance that Yuraku in Germantown isn’t completely packed). I’ve been here multiple times and there is never a wait. Just don’t come here with my sushi-chef uncle, nor expecting anything but Americanized sushi, and you’ll be fine.

Went for lunch and I’d DEFINITELY try it again for a proper sushi meal. This time around I just had the salmon lunch box. It was a lot of food for $ 10.99. Service was fast and friendly. The place was clean. The salmon box came with soup and salad, and then in the box was a piece of teryaki grilled salmon over vegetables, white rice, some sort of shrimp pastry thing with a dipping sauce(4), and 4 pieces of california roll(little old looking but tasted fine). I wish I’d had the option to get the shrimp grilled, in a roll, or sushi style instead of in the little pastries. Also, a ball of moki ice cream would have been a nice desert treat with the check. I had a salmon box somewhere else, and the entire thing was salmon… grilled salmon, salmon roll, and salmon somewhere else. I wouldn’t mind paying a couple bucks more for some higher quality sides, but again, for the price it was a nice piece of fish and the sides weren’t bad.

I disagree with anyone saying this place is comparable to Yoyogi. It was decent, but by no means is it even close to Yoyogi. I found myself craving sushi on a Tuesday — the one day Yoyogi is closed. So decided to try Yoshiya based on Unilocal reviews. The restaurant itself is cute inside with big comfy booths. I enjoyed being in our«cubby» as I perused the menu. I was a bit disappointed with the limited vegetarian selection of rolls but they do have a good selection of seafood sushi as well as non sushi items. –miso soup: okay –edamame: standard, slightly small portion –chicken yakitori: disappointing and slightly dry, with only 6 tiny chicken pieces in underwhelming sauce –seaweed salad: okay but a tad over salted. –chirashi: hubby had this and felt the ice(instead of rice) was a bit of a skimp but the portion size and freshness was satisfactory-although not great. –vegetarian roll platter: sad… three kinds of rolls that looked so spartan.(See my photo). Avocado, cucumber and oshinko. For a platter, I expect a bit more creativity and flavor??? But the wasabi was nice — powerfully spicy and the rolls, although boring, were fresh. –service– very friendly. –cost seemed a bit high for the area and portion sizes. Overall, it was okay — not great.
