If you haven’t been in a while, go check it out again. I have been going to this place for 5 years now and recently that have changed up some of the rolls and added items. If you have not been here in a while, I recommend checking it out. Keep in mind that it is a small family owned restaurant. You can’t expect them to have the freshest stuff a half hour before they close. Come for the lunch buffet and you will be happy.

Ate here for the first time last night with a few friends. The only redeeming qualities were how clean the dining area was, and how nice the little old lady who seated us was. The sushi was all room temperature, none of it being kept refrigerated. A lot of it smelled, and tasted extremely fishy, as well. The vegetable tempura was tasteless, and the miso soup was much too salty. They also charge you $ 1 for every piece of sushi you can’t finish, on your plate. Needless to say, I woke up this morning with a terrible stomach ache, and nausea. Just as an edit; Sushi isn’t supposed to taste overly fishy, or smell like low-tide at the pier. Sushi is supposed to taste fresh, and clean.

It is definitely a hidden gem. I haven’t tried a lot of sushi but this place hit the spot. I usually hate buffets but you can tell this one has the best ingrediangs and take pride in their food. The cinnamon tea is amazing but I would recommend watering it down a bit since its so sweet.

Came here with 4 co-workers for the sushi buffet lunch. Quality is OK w/an unbeatable price for a sushi buffet. I like their MD California roll because it has old bay on it. I never thought I would see that. The buffet is quickly re-stocked with a wide variety of about 15 different kinds of sushi. They do have a sign that says to only take what you eat which is understandable. Coworkers and I will be visiting probably one or twice a month.

Unfortunately 1 star is the lowest rating i can give! This is the worst sushi i have ever had… and i have had a lot of sushi from questionable sources. Having gone to sushi chalet over 12 years ago and not really liking it that much back then i figured that if they are still around now they must have improved. Boy was i wrong. When i returned last week with some very hungry co workers we weren’t even in the mood to get a second plate. Everything — even the watermelon at the«salad bar” — was soggy and tasteless. The rolls had a variety of creamy and spicy sauces on them to mask the low quality of the rest of the ingredients. Even the rice in the rolls tasted funny. Needless to say… don’t waste your money… i would rather go eat at McDonald’s than here again…

My favorite place ever. They have awesome sushi, for a buffet, but mostly the best service. The owner is so friendly and talkative with everybody, and even helps you pick out new things to try. The ratings here should be much higher, people in the area love it.

Excellent place to stop by for lunch or dinner if you enjoy a variety of Sushi and are not a «Sushi Purist». It is a casual dining restaurant with good reasonably priced food. It is not a high end snooty, expensive restaurant and they don’t pretend to be. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Ask questions if you need help identify the sushi or with a request. There is a sign indicating an additional charge for uneaten pieces or not eating the rice. If you want sashimi, you can order it but its not part of the buffet. I assume the policy is quite a bit and every time has been enjoyable.

Getting consistency in a buffet is a difficult feat, but at Sushi Chalet they are amazing. I love how they offer the traditional korean foods as well as the sushi and let me continue by saying that they have a WIDEVARIETY of sushi. They have new management and while I have never gone while under the old, this place is one of my favorites to visit! Once you become a regular, the owner will help you personally and will get to know you on a first name basis. This is my favorite family dinner restaurant =D

my dad, brother, and I would always come here when we were craving sushi. we never bothered with yuraku — although their sushi is undeniably more fresh and better — because sushi chalet was good enough for our sushi fix. I moved away to SF and my brother moved to Atlanta so we obviously don’t attend this place as much. however, we both dine out to sushi chalet as soon as we get home with our family. the owners of sushi chalet are always so warm and welcoming, and it’s always so good to see them again as well. in terms of the food — the sushi is good for the price. I would say sushi chalet is better at the rolls than the nigiri. for the people complaining that the sushi is not that good — please keep in mind you get what you pay for. for less than $ 20/pp for a sushi buffet? you’re obviously not going to get some stellar, a-grade fish. sushi chalet is a good lunch spot and one that is sure to have you leaving full and satisfied.

The owners/wait staff deserve 6 stars and absolutely went out of there way to help my family. When I told them it was my son’s birthday, without asking, they went to the trouble and made him an entire plate of candy/cookie sushi and rolls. He loved it as so did my girls. One of my daughters will not eat sushi but she was able to pick what she wanted and I was able to pay the carry out price per lb. I thought I looking at $ 15 per person for myself and 2 kids that did eat the buffet but even including my per lb item, the bill was only $ 36. When one item from the hot buffet was gone and they had run out, they made more of the desert sushi for the kids to make up for it. Now I know the sushi may not be fresh off the boat kind, but I’m not a sushi snob and love just about everything I’ve tried here. When someone hears«all you can eat sushi», they automatically stick up their nose but this restaurant has figured out a way to make it work with a lot of loyal customers.

It’s not that great. It’s good if you are craving sushi but don’t want to spend a lot of money. The sushi is mostly rice with very little fish or other ingredients. What really bothers me about this place is the wait staff. They are very rude and they watch you while you are eating as if they don’t trust you. They just stare at you and it is extremely uncomfortable. Another thing that bothers me about this place is that they charge you $ 1 for every piece you don’t eat yet call themselves a buffet. They have a small sign posted that says this that I did not see and I was surprised when they told me when I only had one piece left over. So be very careful not to put too much on your plate and make as many trips as you have to.

I have only been to Sushi Chalet since the«new» owner, Pam, has taken over and I have to say this is becoming a favorite place of mine. The lunch buffet is $ 11 and it provides many options such as Mongolian noodles, tempura veggies, roasted veggies, crab eggrolls and«make it yourself» miso soup. Then for the sushi(also included in the lunch price): veggie sushi(they don’t go stingy on avocado!) as well as many sashimi options(eel too!) and specialty rolls(whoooa volcano roll). They also provide a salad bar complete with fruit for dessert and my personal favorite… cinnamon tea. This is a very laid back place, but it doesn’t mean the service or food is lacking. While there may be more rice to sushi ratio for you sushi purists, it is absolutely the best deal in town. Pam seats you, gets you in and out as fast or slow as you need to move and is always happy to see returning costumers(sometimes spoonful’s of a variety of fresh fish just happen to be on our table when we are in between plate 2 and 3). Highly recommended! Enjoy!

The buffet is only $ 14.95 but the food is hard to eat. Mainly, because they changed ownership. For hot food, they served american-style chicken teriyaki, bulgogi, noodles, korean pancakes, and crab wontons. The food was cold and flavorless. I liked the miso soup because you could add your own condiments(fresh seaweed, tofu, spring onions). For the sushi, the fish had a strong fishy taste and smell. Thus, not fresh at all. Some of the rolls(Vegetable Crunch Roll, Kabuki Roll, Yaki Roll, Crab Stick Tempura Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Baked Crabmeat Roll) were decent. For dessert, I drank Cinnamon Tea, which was refreshing.

I’ve been going to this place probably since it opened well over a decade ago(God I feel old). After moving away from the area, then moving back, I have to say I am really surprised to see it still here! Sushi buffets themselves can be a pretty scary thought. I never thought this place had amazing sushi, but the variety and different combos is just a fun and cheap way to get your sushi fix! My 7 year old daughter LOVES this place, and I don’t mind bringing her here at all, because I like it too. The rolls are always very fresh and the hot bar it pretty good too, so you can bring someone who may not be a huge sushi fan and they will still have plenty of grub. I love the fact that you can make your own miso soup – extra seaweed!

Not that great. I went during lunch with my brother and even for just $ 11, I don’t think I would come back here. It’s just really cheap and after eating here I didn’t feel right for the rest of the day. I took one look at the cooked food and the salad bar and decided I wasn’t going to try anything from there. Food looked old like it’s been sitting there. The sushi was not that great either. They had some weird combos of sushi that I don’t think anyone really wanted to try. Some of the fish from the nigiri were dried out. Basically, the food is below standard even for a cheap place. But I must say that the employees were very friendly and accommodating. One employee noticed I was cold and offered me hot tea. I thought that was nice. I don’t recommend coming here unless you don’t mind eating bad food.

This used to be my go to place for sushi back in the 90’s but Im sure mgmt has changed and so has the food. So this is a mix b/w Japanese and Korean fare. As most buffet places you must go when they first open otherwise it wont be fresh and yall end up with scraps. The sushi is a joke. I lived in Japan for most of my teen years and the Japanese would be very insulted if they were served this. The sushi on the buffet line has an 1⁄8 of a teaspoon of meat?! Are you serious? Oh it gets better, then they have this silly rule that if you just eat the meat off and leave the rice behind they will fine you a dollar per sushi? WTH? Who concocted this idea? I love the miso because u can customize it with all the tofu, spring onions and seaweed ur heart desires. I love all of the Korean food there!!! I love the pancakes! Their cinnamon tea! Delish! Mongolian grill its good when its open. They really need to improve on their sushi and then maybe we can be friends again. Service is okay, but I dont like being eyeball when I chow down with the family. And its very rude to talk about the customers in other languages because you never know who could be able to hear you and understand every word your saying(wink wink) :)

Let me add my voice to the chorus of those who remind readers that this place changed ownership right about 4 years ago. The old owners were good about 6 – 9 years ago before letting the quality go. So if you read any negative reviews from more than 3 years ago, please ignore them!(keep in mind that some people take a few months to get around to ranting about a bad experience). The current owners have never dropped the ball since I first began eating there about Feb 2008. I’ve brought my club there many times, probably 25 to 30 times, and that represents at least 25 different people who have tried the place and really like it. Currently my club uses the place every single month and with over 15 restaurants we like to churn into the mix every year we’d never get that done if we returned to every place every month. We return to this place that often because it is just that good! Now for some specifics. I realize I’m picky when it comes to sushi. While I tend to try one of everything, I’m mostly there for the salmon and the Philadelphia rolls. When I’m in the mood for crab rolls, I really like them. I’m not always in the mood though. Now, you might think that if I’m pigging on these, they’d run out right? Not likely! They make more, and they do it sooner if you tell them what you like and that you’d take more if they’d make more. There’s always one chef, sometimes two, making fresh sushi as it is needed. Aside from sushi type items, which are ALL good there, I like the fried apple/cinamon things on the hot bar. Most days they are the only things on the hot bar I like. I think most of the stuff on the hot foods bar is for guests who won’t eat sushi, but not entirely. For example there was a Terriyaki Mushroom dish there last month that was seriously causing me to ignore sushi. Then there’s the«salad bar» which is mostly packed with fruit items like pineapple, watermelon, oranges, kinds of fruit salad. I almost always have some. Then there is the Cinnamon Tea. I always have a mug when I’m there. They used to offer Ginseng tea as well and they stopped serving it because people who don’t appreciate Ginseng tea were trying to drink it and then complaining that it did not taste like their(Western) idea of what tea should taste like. I would seriously appreciate it if they would keep some in the back for those of us who promise not to complain. My favorite non-sushi item there is the Miso Soup. I like it because all the non-broth ingredients are right there for you to add in whatever ratios makes you happy. If you don’t like seaweed, don’t use it. You are very fond of onions? Knock yourself out. I would like to add that I’m very fond of a particular online dating site, and this is one of my favorite spots to impress women with. It does that! BTW in case you’ve not heard, the Dinner buffet has recently been reduced to $ 14.95 I’m not sure why but I love telling people that and watch their eyes bug out.

My co-workers seem to attempt to go here twice a month. If I wasn’t worried that I’d become even fatter than I am now, I would probably go with them because you really can’t beat $ 10 sushi buffet. The owner is extremely sweet, and she knows her customers. The non-sushi selections are pretty good, flavored well and the meat is tender for a buffet. They have lots of very unique sushi rolls, which I don’t mind, since its a buffet. Last week I had one with strawberries and kiwi on it. The food is VERY fresh, I have never ever gotten sick from this sushi and I have eaten here more than 12 times in the last 2 years. The place is always hopping at lunch time, so the rolls don’t sit out for long. I think that there has been a change in owners or management because its been consistently good since 2009 the first time I came here.
