La Jolla

Set in a shopping strip, their signage doesn’t pop out at you so it is easy to miss it. (It is next door to the Papa Johns by the way) Chose LaJolla due to the excellent reviews posted. Its fairly small so if you plan to go during prime time you might make a reservation. We arrived prior to dinner rush on Sat evening. The Mister ordered the lamb chops and house salad, The Missus ordered the veal piccata and house salad. While the veal was very nice, those lamb chops… I know others have raved about them. As they SHOULD. Holy COW they were fabulous!!! We shared the cheesecake for dessert. It was fine but not rave worthy. Service was prompt and attentive, never had to ask for anything. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

My wife and I had dinner at La Jolla last night. I had the Beef Filet Special and my wife had the Grilled Snapper. Both dishes cooked to perfection!!!
Wait staff was on point as always at La Jolla. One of my favorites in Montgomery.

Really enjoyed my experience here. The ambiance was great and the staff was very helpful.
I started with the duck confit potato hash. It sounded really interesting, but honestly I think there was way too much going on with the dish. It’s topped with an egg and the fuck, it doesn’t really taste like a complete dish just one with random ingredients.
I also had the trout, which was very good, but the zucchini and squash noodles I ordered as a side were AMAZING. They come in a Tuscan olive oil thats got a nice little kick to it.

I had a great meal, awesome drinks and great service. The lamb chops, green beans, Mac and cheese and egg plant fritters tasted Amazing. The brandy Alexander, chocolate martini, pomtini, and Victoria secret were made to perfection by Will.

This place was fantastic. A little hard to find, but keep looking. It’s worth it. Our waiter was very patient & knowledgable. We all ordered the mixed grill that came with shrimp, a lamb chop, steak & sausage. It was all very good but I suggest just getting the lamb chops. They were perfect in every way!
We also sit the carrot cake that was to die for. Whenever I’m back in Montgomery this will be my first stop!

Montgomery is definitely a slow boring city… LaJolla is NOT! Great food… especially the Lamb chops cooked on the big easy green egg grill! Delicious! Pretty good happy hour too. Always exceptional service. I love it here!

Great local dinner place with consistently good food. Cozy atmosphere and great wine list too. They cook their meet on a green egg and everything has been delicious. My favorite meal is the scallops and risotto. Highly recommend.

Best restaurant in Montgomery. We have visited twice without a reservation, the first time (Saturday night) the service was amazing and we didn’t have to wait to sit at the bar. The second time (Friday night) we did not have to wait for a seat at the bar either but because the regulars on both sides of us at the bar we’re definitely favorites we didn’t get the best service… which I guess is expected. The food was well worth the wait. Perfectly prepared and comparable to 4.5 star big citing dining in quality, taste and experience.

Loved this place! The brisket risotto is to die for! Great service as well. True fine dining experience. Amazing server and we even got to meet the chef!

What happens when excellent ingredients meet talented chefs — I guess you’d call it La Jolla. Everything about our visit was perfect. Our server knew every detail about the menu and made suggestions that were spot on.
If you want first class service and food that you would expect in a metro area, then eat here. Of its contemporaries– Central and True –this is hands down the best fine dining experience in Montgomery.
Oh, and like our waiter recommended, get the scallops!

We chose this place to eat our Valentine’s Day dinner partly because of the reviews but mostly because they did not have the crappy set Valentine’s Day menu that many high-​end restaurants have on VDay. The restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The wife of the owner came out and spoke to us for a few minutes and she was a delight.
We started with a caesar salad that was dressed perfectly and a mild dressing that did not overpower the rest of the salad. For the mains I ordered the lamb with roasted vegetables and spicy collards! The lamb was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the vegetables were flavorful and complimented the lamb well. I am very picky when it comes to greens and I believe I cook some of the best around, but these collards were amazing (I rarely compliment restaurant greens so emphatically). They were just crunchy enough and the use of peppers was enough to give you a good punch in the mouth. They use a bit more of the thicker stem then I prefer, but the flavor allowed me to look beyond that. The smoked cheddar and chorizo mac-​n-​cheese was also great, not as sharp as I would prefer, but very good. For desert we were talked into getting the carrot cake. It was incredibly rich and crazy delicious! The best carrot cake I have ever eaten and they serve plenty for two to share.
Of course, this is the perfect place in Montgomery for dinner. La Jolla is also a great place to impress a date or business client or a wonderful place for drinks with the girls or guys. I wish this place was in Memphis because I would be a regular. I cannot wait to get back to Montgomery to eat at La Jolla!

Probably as fancy as you can get in Montgomery. The food is reasonably priced for the quality and I have never met a dish here I didn’t like. I always start with the salad with fried goat cheese because it is amazing. Service is always prompt and friendly.
