I attended the most beautiful wedding reception here in Sept 2015. And I mean beautiful. The inside, the outside seating(there was a fire pit or something like that at the outside bar area that we sat at because we were early), the valet parking area were all beautiful. They had the room set up just as the bride requested. The party was for about 150 people. The only thing I didn’t like was some people that didn’t valet park had to find parking in the area and since it’s right across from the Riverwalk, they had to walk a long way. I’d drive around first to search for a spot before paying that $ 20 to park. But I should add that some people at our table complained that the parking meter was only good for 2 hours. I can’t verify that because we parked at the hotel. But just be aware if you don’t need or want to park on the hotel property.

I initially had a bad experience with billing, but Kevin the resident manager, resolved my issue and personally called and spoke with me. I would stay at this hotel again.

Very great stay was only here for business lay over in the area. Clean, friendly and helpful staff no complaints, great clean gym to get early P.T. in. In great lication for restaurants and bars in walking distance.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. The room was immaculate and the bar was fun and enjoyable. The staff seemed good as well. My biggest and maybe only complaint is the terrible parking situation. The parking is only valet for almost 20.00…plus tip… Each day… or 12.00 or so for self park. We self parked but might as well have valet’d for the huge pain in the butt the parking garage was. A.) it’s not even attached to the hotel. It’s behind it and to the side. B.) you can’t enter on your floor. You park. Walk to the elevators… go down to the skywalk/walkway floor… walk to the lobby down a long corridor. Then get in another elevator to go to your room. This isn’t Vegas folks… there’s no reason to have to do this in Montgomery Alabama. Maybe the whole point of it being such a fiasco is they want you to pay more to valet.

If anything else the staff was great BUT the room was filthy! The comforter on the bed had small black hairs and clear stains all over it. The bathroom shower had mold in the grout, white splash marks on the bottom of the vanity and finger nail polish on the time. The towels and wash cloths were stained as well. We will not be coming back. We were disappointed because we were exhausted from traveling and did not get there until almost 10:30 with two kids 3 and 1.

Great location and great hotel. Comfortable and pretty quiet rooms. Shower pressure is really low. Beautiful and relaxing pool on the roof. Food options are really pricey. Word to the wise, don’t go on a pageant weekend, it’s a madhouse and the elevator waits have been up to 20 minutes quite a few times. There are girls everywhere and loud hallways with mothers decorating doors. The first three days of our vacation were perfect. The last two with all the pageant contestants have been frustrating. I spent the first three days in the pool from 11 – 4 and saw maybe 4 – 5 people. Today there were 25+ kids out there with little to no parent supervision. I left early when 6 kids got in the hot tub and the water changed color! Gross.

This is the best hotel! This was an unexpected stay in Montgomery. We were just too tired to drive any further. I’m so glad we decided to stay here. Simply put, just beautiful! The check in clerk wasn’t that nice, but everyone else was awesome. I didn’t allow one bad apple to hinder my stay. Once we arrived to our rooms, we were thrilled. We had nice clean large rooms that were just gorgeous. The beds were comfy. The pillows were fabulous and the tubs were deep. I decided to take a bath just to relax not realizing how deep the tub was. Calgon took me away literally. Slept like a baby. Once we woke up, we enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast. Chris stopped by our table and I had to thank him for having such a fabulous hotel. Will definitely stay here again!

We just stayed in the junior suite for a night. The hotel is very nice. The staff is extremely friendly. We ended up having conversations with the valet guys on arrival and departure. They recommended places to eat and landmarks to see. The room was clean. The mattress was ok as far as comfort goes, but the pillows were fantastic! I’d definitely stay here again any time I visit Montgomery.

I would love to have been able to give this property five stars, but there was one problem that happened upon arrival that just rea put me off. As any hotel does, they have a portico out front where people can park for a moment, going inside the lobby to register. However, if you don’t want to pay an extra $ 7 a day for valet parking(which they are clearly trying to penalize you for not using) then you are given vague directions to drive to the other side of the hotel and park in the garage. The problem with this is that the directions are very vague… and the garage is clear on the other side of the property. To get to the lobby, you have to switch elevators… and really need to be told where you are going to find the lobby. An employee had to stop and direct us and the people in front of us, because we had passed where we needed to go. Outside of this nuisance, the hotel is a truly beautiful property. Everything is very clean and in great shape. The room was nicely appointed, with a very comfortable bed and a great view of downtown. The bathroom was also beautiful as well. I love the location because you can walk to the river walk and«The Alley» dining and bar district, which is right across the street. Be sure to check out The Exchange Bar downstairs, which has a great patio, good drinks, and live music a lot of nights.

This hotel was very nice. If you stay here go to The Exchange. They have bands on the patio and its a fun crowd(I think most are regulars). However, the drinks are strong but pricey. The Hotel room was very nice and comfortable. The only complaint was when we pulled in to check in… they told me to go to the parking deck and then go to the lobby… I got lost and a worker had to tell us how to get to the lobby. When we got to the lobby there was a long line but it moved fast. I do not understand why they would let you just check in and then go to the deck. Besides that the stay was great.

Great hotel in downtown Montgomery. Kinda odd, as there isn’t much going on in downtown Montgomery so this hotel is sort of out of place. There is an alley with a few bars/restaurants across the street, but other than that I couldn’t find anything else to do. The lack of things to do in downtown Montgomery made this hotel feel even better and grander, IMHO. Staff was very friendly and the hotel had a very nice upscale restaurant on the ground floor. Across from that restaurant was another low key restaurant/bar and on the corner of the facility was a seafood restaurant that seemed to be a local favorite… so food is covered. The rooms themselves were well appointed and felt fresh and new. There wasn’t a soaking tub, but other than that I have nothing bad to say about the room and was very comfortable. I actually got upgraded to a suite and so was loving it. The pool/spa were also very nice, but the pool was way too small for the space. The hotel had a lot of room on the roof and seemingly could have built a beautifully large pool, but for some reason choose to go with a rinky-dink one. This made the pool area feel kinda out of place and odd. But the spa was large and nice as was the gym so all things being equal, the pool wasn’t a deal breaker. If you’re staying in Montgomery I would recommend staying here.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Spa at Montgomery inside the Renaissance Hotel. I received a manicure and pedicure, which were both beautifully done in a relaxing environment. The reason why I’ve taken off one star is because the spa’s computer system did not correctly identify the types of manicure and pedicure I made an appointment for. As a result, I ended up receiving the basic level mani/pedi instead of the one that includes a paraffin wax, which costs about $ 30 more. This was upsetting because I specifically made an appointment at this spa to receive the paraffin wax service. I would have liked to receive a discount off my service or at least off of my next service. Instead, I was offered heated socks and gloves to take home. Other than this mishap, I enjoyed the steam room, women’s quiet area, the shower and the lounge during my visit. I would consider returning to try out the hair services. I also enjoyed the free parking in the parking garage and separate elevator for the spa. I look forward to trying this spa again.

Over all my experience here was great. Friendly workers, clean, everything was well stocked. Who can hate having the Valet remember you and talk star wars every night when I would leave to go hunting. My issue: I kept having to ask for a breakfast menu because they were not replaced in my room after I would use them, also my fastfood trash from the first day was still in my room garbage on the last day(4 days) when I checked out. Overall by far the best place to stay in Montgomery, has some cool spots to eat, drink and listen to live music nearby

Spa is average at best. Overall, the ambience is pleasant but the service itself is sub-par. For example, I just paid $ 220 for a couples massage and after telling my masseuse to be more firm, it simply felt like he was aimlessly and awkwardly rubbing me, not once did I feel him working out a knot or releasing tension. I told him to focus on my neck shoulders and instead I received an awkward pat down and a weird foot massage. Maybe he was still in training? Very overpriced and disappointing, will not be making another appointment.

Fabulous hotel. Great location to a score of cute little bars and small intimate restaurants right across the street. Here at the hotel they have an outdoor bar where jazz musicians play. I really liked the outdoor fire pits which added a very romantic touch.

See my pics, as this is one of my top 54star hotels on the nation. In not sure why this place does not have 5stars.

This review is for the spa specifically. Quiet room was pleasant but it took some searching to find a cup to enjoy the ice water provided. Large whirlpool was very nice. Dressing room and shower area were small but clean. Jed, one of the massag therapists, was excellent. One of the best massages I’ve had in several years. I added an extra star to my review specifically for him.

We could see the river from our 10-floor«river view» window, but we had to look over the huge, ugly parking lot of the Embassy Suites across the street. Whatever. Nice place, reasonable rates, for a hotel in the center of a large city. I was surprised by how little there is to do in Montgomery, and by how few places there are to eat and drink and loiter in the middle of downtown. Other than the two restaurants and two bars in this hotel, there is a cluster of eateries in alley across the street, most of which were either closed on the weekend or closed early for Labor Day. If you have a «river view» room – and maybe even if you do not – you’ll hear train horns and trains all through the night. Those smart-ass train engineers lay on the horn all morning… I was woken up around 4 am by the racket and I imagined that the dude had an evil grin on his face and was cackling like a moron at a clown convention. If you are a light sleeper, this might be a consideration and reason to get a room facing away from the river. Our room had a nice bed, large bathroom, the shower had good water pressure, but the toilet seat seemed like it was 6 inches off of the floor. WTH? It was like doing deep-knee bends. Not that, um, I used it frequently or anything. The room A/C was leaking in the hallway to the door and bathroom, which I informed the front desk about at checkout. They comped us breakfast, which was nice and saved us about $ 30. Two eggs, some potatoes, toast, and snausage was $ 12…I would have nom nommed a week’s worth of breakfast for that kind of loot at a Waffle House. Nice employees in general. I used the business center computer near the front desk to pay my auto insurance. I hope if somebody had a keylogger installed, they hack my GEICO account and pay me up for the year. There’s a pool on the top deck of the parking garage, although we didn’t avail ourselves of it. The parking garage is connected to the hotel building by an interior passageway. Parking your own car costs $ 12 per day and valet parking is $ 20 per day, IIRC.
