I discovered this place by accident. Now I come here at least twice a month. The food is the best and the staff is awesome!!!

The Egg & I is my go-to for a great and filling Sunday brunch. My food has always been delivered exactly as ordered, and the staff is extremely friendly. However, the restaurant typically seems to be slightly understaffed which creates a bit of a wait time, but the food is always worth the wait.

Came this weekend while in town for a wedding after reading the great reviews. I was not disappointed! I ordered the biscuits and gravy which were delicious. The bacon was better than anything you can find up in the Northeast! I appreciated the fact also that they had a gluten free menu as one of the people I traveled with needed it and it’s often hard to come by. Staff was very warm and friendly. I would definitely come back if I were in the area again.

Although this restaurant can be very busy on the weekends, the service, staff, and food are the absolute best in Montgomery. Despite the amount of customers, particularly on Sunday, the wait is worth it. It can only be assumed that in a town as small as Montgomery, with so few good restaurants, that the weekend brunch crowd would swamp this restaurant. Great food; great people; great service. Be at least somewhat patient on the weekends, and it will be worth your while. It’s also just the human thing to do.

Pretty good breakfast, better than the usual cracker barrell, IHOP, waffle house. I had the Athena scrambler, could have made it at home(I think I have) everything was really buttery. My fiancé had the spinach/mushroom/bacon omelette with ranch potatoes. The«hollandaise» sauce was super buttery, not very creamy. The COFFEE was the BEST part. They have seasonal coffees, so if you’re a coffee lover ask what coffees they have when you go. I had Pecan Coffee, it smelled amazing and tasted just as good. They bring the pot to the table too so you can refill as much as you want. We will probably go back because we frequent Montgomery for his job. Pretty good. not orgasmic. ;) Worth returning. Not too expensive.

The food is absolutely wonderful and the staff is terrific! Our server was Tonya and she was a delight! The food runner Brandon was excellent. It was a wonderful experience all around and we will definitely be regular customers!

Great breakfast spot for a meeting on the weekday or to meet friends on the weekend. One of the few non-dives open early on Sunday morning. Wide variety on the menu with options from totally indulgent to quite healthy. Love the seasonal varieties of coffee offered and the fact that they bring a while pitcher! Prepare for a wait if you come in after 10 on Sunday. Service is among the best in town.

I really enjoyed the service and overall vibe of this place. The coffee was hot and she brought a little carafe filled with more. I appreciate that they use a rainforest alliance brand of coffee. My build your own omelette was quite tasty and packed full of flavor. The chili peppers packed a nice punch. My only ding on my whole breakfast experience was that my ranch potatoes were cold and not very ranch flavored. Had they been hot I would have enjoyed them even without the ranch flavor. The house hot sauce on the table was AWESOME.

You can get red velvet everything these days — cupcakes, cake, cookies, pancakes, waffles, French toast… and the list goes on. When I saw the red velvet pancake on the specials menu at The Egg & I, I knew that I wanted to try it. We apparently came at a good time, mid-morning on a Sunday, which was a surprise given the usual weekend brunch crowds. But, when we arrived, there were plenty of seats available. We were seated in the back room where a couple of larger groups were eating. Our server came to our table quickly to take our order and we knew what we wanted right away. I was hungry so when I saw the large chocolate chip red velvet pancake, I was ready to dive in, right after removing the large dollop of butter. After one bite, I knew that this red velvet pancake was nowhere near as good as others that I had tried. It didn’t really have any flavor, except for the chocolate chips. Thank goodness for those. The rest of the plate — eggs and bacon — were fine. Between our two plates, the best items were the loaded home fries. If I return, maybe I’ll try one of their egg dishes. This place serves standard breakfast fare, nothing too special. Despite the lackluster breakfast, I will say that our service was great.

I eat here often and highly recommend this place. I literally have tried every item on their breakfast menu and can honestly say their breakfast is second to none in the city and even when they’re short handed the service is still really good.

I LOVE this place. I walked in, and I was seated promptly. The hostess was very polite, but my server was the absolute best. She started me off with a carafe of hazelnut coffee. I ordered a Greek frittata without ham and mushrooms. I never would have thought to put artichoke hearts, roasted tomatoes, asparagus, basil pesto and Havarti dill cheese on a frittata, but it was amazing. I hardly ever eat eggs, but I will surely come back from this. Every time I come to Montgomery, I am coming here, and I am bringing lots of friends and family. There was so much on the menu that I MUST try.

Disaster. Nothing«reasonable» or normal on the menu, when looking for a simple«American» breakfast. Everything is wildly overpriced as well. Cost me like $ 20 to get an awful breakfast for my Son and I. Wish there was another box under«Good For» where I could check«Nothing».

We eat breakfast here after church often. Great friendly service. Good coffee. The food comes out hot & tasty(eggs benedict, omelets, breakfast skillets).

breakfast was very filling. i was concerned about the portion sizes, but the waitress kindly explained our options and choice of sides, as well as her personal preferences. the pancakes are massive in size and delicious. The scrambeled eggs were also a whopping portion and were just as great. I am definitely excited to have a new place for breakfast in the Montgomery area

A few of us were in town for the Capitol 10-miler and desperately needed breakfast after the race. With so few obviously good places popping up on Unilocal,we chose to go to Egg and I. We sort of knew what we were getting into but were still surprised by how completely our expectations were met. This place reminded me exactly of Another Broken Egg in Florida. For all I know, they’re a part of the same chain. Anyway, I had the spinach, bacon, and mushroom omelette with the ranch potatoes. My husband had the Athena scramble, also with the ranch potatoes and a sad looking piece of ham. Normally we split our meals right down the middle, but this time, neither of us cared to try the other’s since it all just looked kind of meh. We also both tried a bite of our friend’s French toast. Again, meh. Don’t get me wrong, the food is not bad. Okay is probably a fair adjective. It’s just mass produced and forgettable. If you are just looking to satisfy your hunger, eat here. If you are looking for a truly enjoyable meal, go elsewhere. On a positive note, the service was great. Every single one of the staff walked around with a smile and was extremely, but not overly, friendly. And the coffee was actually really good!

Stopped in for Brunch and as expected… Great service… Hot Coffee right away! Food was delicious and fresh. Beats the breaks off the usual IHOP; Waffle House … This is exponentially better with very affordable prices! Take someone you like being around to breakfast or brunch here… You’ll be an instant hero!

My second time to visit and both times were positive experiences. Arrived just before 11:00 am on a Saturday and the place was busy but my party of 5 was seated immediately I had a the Belgian waffle with bananas strawberries and walnuts along with two eggs(of course) and bacon and enjoyed every bit of it, everyone at the table had something different and all were pleased with their meal. Coffee was average but the water was clear. Management and staff were friendly and accommodating. Solid.

Love this place! I’ve lived in Montgomery going on four years and I made this my Saturday morning routine early in my time here. It was a welcome break from the rigors of law school. Anyway, when I first started coming it was good, but when Emmett, the current manager joined, this place totally improved beyond words. He knows his stuff and runs a tight ship. The staff is all friendly, efficient and a pleasure to be served by. Occasionally some problems with food accuracy, but not enough for a bad review. Best breakfast place in town! I highly recommend. If you have an issue… talk to Emmett. He’ll make it right. Promise.

Egg and I need to work on their menu. The food is free of taste and flavor. Service is slow and at times unprofessional. Coffee has been consistently old. Quality of food does not seem to have a real and home-like feel, but tastes and feels mass produced. Montgomery need more competition in the breakfast market.

What a phenomenal establishment. I’m glad I arrived early on a Sunday morning. I’m sure they can get very busy. I was greeted by the most friendliest host ever… he had such a nice smile and warm personality. My order was to-go and he even offered me complimentary coffee while I waited, which I declined however. I ordered a turkey sausage, chicken, fresh avocado and Jack and Cheddar omelette, grits, corned beef hash and one slice of French toast… yesss, I was starving, lol!!! My order was ready within 15 minutes… these guys are efficient!!! However, my breakfast was not good. The omelet was a bit hard, the corn beef hash was really dry and the grits lacked seasoning. The French toast was okay, albeit crammed into the small container. Anyway, thanks a million for your hospitality… I will hopefully give this venue another chance.

Enjoyed my birthday breakfast trying this place for the first time !! The food was delicious and the service was amazing ! Ask for ROB I know we will next time !! The Eggceptional Omelete and the Colorado jack scrambler are awesome choices but so many things looked so good on the menu l had a hard time choosing !! If I could say anything to improve this it would only be that we need an Egg and I at East Chase ! Will definitely be coming back here !!

So let me start off by saying that the lacking stars were certainly NOT for service. From the hostess, to the manager, to my server, and even his trainee, the service was great. The food on the other hand… meh. Reminds me of IHOP or Perkins. I had the Sunrise Chile Rellenos and a side of biscuits and gravy. The eggs were well cooked and fluffy, but it tasted like a green bell pepper was in the middle, not chile rellenos… hot sauce cured that issue pretty quickly. I was hoping for some good gravy, especially becasue of my location in the deep south. Highly disappointed. Not only was it clear that it was some pre-packaged crap, but I could actually TASTE the packaging in the gravy. Tasted old and stale… stay away from this dish. Just my suggestion. Coffee wasn’t bad. So, overall… meh.
