I’ve been to this restaurant location before… back when it was BaDa Korean BBQ. A sad day in my life last year when BaDa closed its doors, but I digress. Now, Amazon Peruvian Restaurant has taken BaDa’s place, and while I wanted to jump for joy with another great ethnic find, the truth is that this Peruvian place is just okay. It wasn’t bad whatsoever, but it wasn’t 5-star worthy(like many others gave) either. They give a lukewarm(almost too cool), complimentary soup with a token piece of chicken, green in color probably from the cilantro, with some peas and rice. It had flavor, but it didn’t make my eyes roll to the back of my head, either. We then ordered some ceviche with some kind of white fish that I had never heard of(nor could I pronounce or spell on my own). I found it weird. The fish was nicely flavored, but it was NOT cooked, and it was almost as if they had just dumped raw, slimy fish into some lime juice… but not for long enough. It should have been more cooked than it was… that’s the whole point of the dish. The lime juice«cooks» the fish… if it’s prepared properly. Not here. They attractively served the fish with lots of onions, a mound of corn, some crunchy(unnecessary) corn kernels, 3 yam slices, and some kind of sauce, but with the fish not being completely finished, I was apprehensive to eat it… so I didn’t beyond 2 or 3 bites. As for the entrees, I honestly was looking for a dish called Aji de Gallina, which I soooooooooo love. It’s a major Peruvian dish… and this place doesn’t serve it. I was SILENTLY but VERY upset that they don’t offer it. My husband ordered lomo saltado, and it was tasty, but nothing spectacular. I ordered their chicken with fried rice with scallion and scrambled egg. Not sure where the scrambled egg was, but I saw plenty of scallion and chicken… honestly, no scrambled egg. It had lots of flavor, but if I didn’t know any better, I’d say it had a beef broth kind of flavor, which bothered me because this was a chicken dish… so it was a little off to me… but as I said, it had flavor, just not the flavor I was expecting. Something about this place bothered me the entire time. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say nothing here is made to order. It’s made already… heated when ordered, then you get it 5 minutes later, if not less. The soup, as stated above, wasn’t served warm/hot… it was cool/lukewarm. The ceviche, while it SHOULD be a dish that is made long enough in advance to fully finish the fish, wasn’t. The lomo saltado and my fried rice dish came out maybe 5 minutes after we put in the order, and the ceviche was only 2 minutes before that. Why? That’s waaaaaaaaaaaay too fast. They couldn’t have cooked it to order… they just reheated whatever they made earlier. There’s no other way. Like I said, it wasn’t bad… but it sure wasn’t 5-star worthy like all these others state. It may be close to where I live, but I didn’t like it enough to want to go back. Sorry.

Such an awesome place. They start you off with a complimentary delicious chicken soup. I ordered this steak stir fry looking thing with rice on the side. I forget what it was called but it was so frikkin good. The flavors were so fantastic. They also have this hot sauce that is out of this world. I am a big fan. The waiter was also very nice!

Mixed seafood ceviche was awesome and the steak with fries, was a delicious Chinese-style stir fry, called Lomo Saltado. Nice rotisserie chicken with delicious green hot sauce. Great for families and dates. Went in recently on a Friday and a nice crowd from local businesses and Moorpark College students were there. Very«legit» Peruvian food. Best Latin/Latino/Hispanic cuisine in Southern California. Good customer service. Try the ice cream with exotic fruit called, Lucuma, for dessert. Highly recommended for business meetings to soccer«football» games in this Copa America season. Owner was very hospitable. Fast and high quality food. Some vegetarian options too. Sometime for everyone!

This place gets 5 stars big time. Excellent food /service /price. They started us off with cilantro chicken soup on the house. The Saltado de Pollo was so good. I will definitely be going back. Nice lady behind the counter.

Delicious authentic food. Just returned from a trip to South America, and this place made me feel like I was still there. Everything we ordered had great flavor, and the soup to start was a nice touch. If you like spicy, ask for the rocoto sauce. I personally had the ceviche and it was amazing! Family run restaurant, I took the time to speak to the owner who seems to always be there, and you can feel the care he puts into the place. He said they’d be adding items to the menu/specials, i can’t wait to try them. If you like Peruvian food or are in the mood for something different, this place is worth a try.

Went here today with my friend. We ordered the Lomo Saltado and Ceviche Mixto. We were speechless! Everything was delicious! We are excited we found a local spot for Peruvian food and now don’t have to drive all the way to LA for some yummy food! We will be back very soon with our wives as well! Five stars and friendly service! Good prices on lunch specials too!

Great food — friendly staff. Our family went to the Amazon rainforest in Peru(4 hour by boat from Iquitos). And the food here brought back great memories! Authentic Peruvian dishes. Great Chicha Morada! And the Ceviche is fantastic as well!

Awesome service, delicious food, and warm, personable staff. We were greeted with yummy chicken cilantro soup, had ceviche as an appetizer, then ordered the lomo saltado and fried rice. I’d order everything again. I really enjoyed the spicy light green sauce/salsa. The prices are super reasonable too. I definitely plan on returning soon!

From the outside, this restaurant doesn’t look like much. But once inside, the ambiance is perfect for a nice meal. The food by the way… far exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to come back and try other dishes. Definitely a must-try for those who like different types of cuisine!

Great food and close by. No need to go to Pollo Inka in Hawthorne for some good Peruvian food… Only complaint is they need some experienced servers(had one but no longer there)… waits can be a little long for taking order, and getting water and drinks sometimes takes a couple times(asking) to arrive. All in all– Food is Delicious, Service needs a little boost.

Fantastic! Delicious food. The beef has a wonderful marinade and is very tender. The green salsa sauce was spicy but a perfect accompaniment to the entrees. Fast service and friendly owner. We definitely will return.

Well we were out at the teaching zoo there at MPCOLLEGE. Not familiar w area we of course Unilocaled for a local Latin food; it was closed but we saw found restaurant in the same parking lot. We were sure glad we did; it was delicious surprise! It was our first Peruvian experience. Were sold our favorite was the fish ceviche tostada on a bed of lettuce instead of the traditional corn tortilla tostada. For a Sunday it was busy as people arrived in thier Sunday Easter best. Give it a try! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It’s a mild flavorful assortment of dishes. Oh don’t forget to try the aji sauce, and thier juice drinks passion fruit;

Beyond amazing I don’t even know where to start. Oh yes, the house soup that is so generously offered as a complimentary starter to the meal… delicious…cilantro, chicken, rice, potatoes, carrots… yum! We then ordered the Jalea de Mariscos which was on par with Don Felix in Hollywood… ah a little pice of home in the burbs! The lomo saltado is divine… the meat is very well seasoned and the french fries are crispy and flavorful… absolutely perfect. The only thing I would improve is the aji… it just needs to be a bit more spicy. Service was great, the older gentleman helping us was very kind and attentive. Prices are reasonable and fair for the food that you get. We are so excited to have more ethnic options close to home… we’ll probably be here like once a week!

Great food at a reasonable price! My co-workers and I came back here for lunch today and the food was terrific like it was near the time Amazon first opened. I have to say we were hesitant to come back because they were short staffed the first time resulting in a long lunch. Thankfully it seems they had plenty of help today and we were back at work in one hr. Overall the service is friendly, nice, and responsive and the food is fantastic. We’ll be visiting again soon. Oh yeah, as a salsero I love their salsa music selection. :)

Great Peruvian food! Thank you for opening up a truly authentic Peruvian restaurant in Moorpark! Have been there twice, once for dinner and at lunch with co-workers. Service was fast and pleasant and the food was delicious. Told my boss about this restaurant and we may use them for catering, so I’m hoping they could do that. Great food, just like what I grew up with and this is a review by a fellow Peruvian.

Great Peruvian dishes! The Lomo saltado, spaghetti, and the carne tasted great. Theres really good quality control here. The flavors taste light and rich… sounds like a paradox. But they do well not to over sauce or oil the dishes(unlike some places like Marios). Overall I think the place is great. Excellent waiting service and quick orders fulfilled. The only issue I had was the quantity. I wouldn’t mind paying an extra dollar or two to get more for the noodle dish, or more potatoes and meat for the lomo saltado. But I was not full after finishing… and I’m not necessary a heavy eater. Nonetheless, I’m impressed and will be back. Thanks guys!

***VERYNEWESTABLISHMENT, today being the end of their first week of business… And hopefully many more to come! The owner sat us 15min before they opened since we arrived early, and we had Chicha Morada(made from Maiz morado, NOT pre packaged powder) and Yuca Frita y huancaina while we waited(yuca was crispy outside and fluffy inside!). We ordered ceviche and lomo saltado, two staple Peruvian dishes. My dad and I are of Peruvian heritage, my dad being an immigrant from Peru himself, so we know good Peruvian food when we taste it… even smell it from a distance! Overall, we were both impressed with the food. The ceviche seasoning was en punto, original flavors that didn’t overpower the freshness of the raw fish. The papas were fresh and the lomo was cooked by wok, maintaining its smoky flavor. We also appreciated the inclusion of yellow huancaina, green huacatay, and red rocoto sauces! We left with Lucuma ice cream, a lifetime favorite for any Peruvian, and a must for anybody who hasn’t experienced its unique flavor. ****PS, for those who want ketchup with the«fries» of Peruvian dishes… Stick to McDonalds. These potatoes were meant for a greater culinary purpose than ketchup.

Good Lomo Saltado. Will definitely have again and recommend to family and friends. Looking forward to trying other dishes. Great Aji Verde(Peruvian Green Chili Sauce). Very attentive staff for just opening up a few days ago.
