I ate there last evening and sad I didn’t take pictures. if you see the lasagna on the menu order it! The waitress shared with me that the chef is Italian. I have traveled extensively, and this was the ultimate lasagna I have tasted. The bread that came with it was amazing, and the desserts were to die for. The cream Brulé was amazing the second day and the chocolate mousse torte was perfect the next day even after being refrigerated :-) The only oddity of the restaurant, is this is North Carolina and they do not offer sweet tea(???)

I’ve been turned away by restaurants in NYC and LA for no reservations, but MHC??? This restaurant is definitely very kid un-friendly. I came in at 5:30 on Saturday, half the restaurant was empty and the owner looks at my children who were quietly waiting and immediately tells me that she can’t accommodate us without a reservation. I’ve eaten here before and the food was okay, but overpriced. If you are looking for a great meal in MHC try Chef’s 105. They offer better fare at a better price.

The food is very, very good! My husband is a chef and he rarely pays compliments, but he said the food is quite exceptional! We have been there twice and the first time the service was superb, but the second time our male waiter did not come by the table very often and he forgot one of our dishes, which came when we had almost finished eating! We will definitely return and hope we do not have the same waiter!

I came here because the Unilocal reviews were great and I wanted to walk from where I’m staying. The food was fine. Nothing special, but totally okay. The service, however, was another story. My two year old daughter and I were waiting outside when the restaurant opened. With a toddler, it’s easiest to go to nice/busy restaurants early so that we’re out before it’s busy. The server, who opened the door for us, never said hello. There were exactly zero pleasantries exchanged. I’m not sure if he had some problem with himself, with me, or with my daughter, but he made me feel like I had inconvenienced him the entire time we were there. Bottom line: the food’s not good enough to make me come back to a restaurant that makes me feel unwelcome. I don’t spend much time here, but I was really pleased with the Ruddy Duck last night and I wish that I’d just gone back again tonight.
