This is a no-frills 2k, 5k, and 10k walking/running race that goes to a great cause. The proceeds support women and girls’ education. This year, the proceeds went to scholarships to local girls for college and for women to continue their education. Course: Extremely flat. The 2k is the kids run, so they ran along the track. The 5k and 10k starts and ends at the Live Oak High School. The start line is within the parking lot. You make a rectangle along the residential streets of Morgan Hill. The course itself isn’t that great, but you see lots of nice houses. Communication: I didn’t get any email correspondence. I read most of the race updates through Facebook. Bib Pick Up: Morning pick up is available for individuals and groups. If you have a group, the volunteers give you all of the group members’ bibs. Plan accordingly for a group meeting point. Parking: Since we arrived early, we parked in the parking lot of the high school. Otherwise, you can park along the street. Plenty of parking available. Bag check: No bag check available since the race is small. You can place your items in your car. Water Station/Volunteers/Crowds: There were a couple water stations for the 10k. Not a lot of volunteers cheering, but at least they helped direct traffic. Some areas along the course was lonely. Swag: Cotton t-shirt, Jamba juice smoothies, medals for 2k finishers, and medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for 5k and 10k in age groups. Post-Race Expo: Food was available, such as trail mix, water, and fruit. Some vendors were also present, but it was really small. Price: $ 30 for 10k($ 25 if you have a group of 10 or more) Next year’s race should be exciting since it’ll be the 30th anniversary of the run.
