I really wanted to like this place. first off, the phone # and address are wrong on the internet. they’ve been open for a few months and cant figure out how important this is? first and last time I will go here. I arrived around 230 – 3 pm on Saturday, today. soda machine was out of syrup. I got the last order of okra. they’re only half through the day and they’re out of basic items? looks like woman owner and her son. son is clueless with bbq. I got my order to go. I checked bag and noticed they forgot chicken and waffle fries. got my items and went home. wife’s chicken tasted like vinegar and zero smoke flavor. I got the 2 meat plate with pork ribs and brisket. the ribs were incredibly fatty and over cooked. they were mushy. yuck. brisket was fatty and laying in a pool of oil and also had zero smoke flavor. I should also add that there was PLASTICWRAP pieces between the slices! my okra was warm but my onion tanglers were cold. son had a westerner, with pulled pork and brisket. the pulled pork bark was really hard and difficult to chew. brisket was also fatty. both meats lacked smoke flavor. staff in general were nice and friendly. store was clean. bbq was horrible.

So here we are again. New location, still so frustrating! Dickey’s has good bbq, but the service is slow and so disorganized. Nice kids working here, but get them some supervision and process improvement. Not sure how long it will take or if I will come back ever again.

I really hope they open up again! I was sad to see that the store closed again, and now is turning into some pizza joint… But for what it’s worth, I hear they are just moving to another, smaller location in the same shopping center. I’m certainly keeping my fingers crossed! As for the food, the BBQ isn’t the best available in Morgan Hill, but it was always and consistently good. The prices are definitely more than fair for the portion size, and I’m never hungry after a meal(and I’m not a light eater either!). I NEVER had a bad/dry/tasteless meal and I frequented this place a couple times a month for the few years I’ve been living in Morgan Hill. As for the staff, I never had an issue, or seen them treat anyone badly who wasn’t already being a jerk. They were even really nice when I ordered the wrong side dish on accident and caught my mistake after they already started on what I ordered incorrectly. They GAVE me the incorrect side order anyway and quickly made what I originally intended to order, and I even offered to pay for my mistake! The service is also pretty fast, but expect to wait awhile if there is a line, because there is always someone with a HUGE order that didn’t call it in ahead of time, which I can’t at all blame the staff for. All around, a very solid experience for a relatively fast meal grab on the way home from work.

Love this place but went by tonight and they were closed, tables and chairs were gone. Not sure if they are remodeling or closing for good. Hope they stick around.

I don’t even like bbq that much but I love this place! My fiancé is from Texas so he knows his bbq he loves brisket so any bbq place we try he always rates them or says«no where near Texas brisket» but to my surprise he says that this is the only place that is close to it! I’m so glad cause that means I can come for their yummy ribs and Mac n Cheese which is hands down the best! The service here is awesome so polite and helpful!

Short answer is it worth your money. If you want to little bit more detail read below. So this place is been here for some time and I have to say it’s not bad, it’s not the best barbecue in the world but it’s not bad. It’s a little expensive but with that said it is barbecue and you pay for what you get. So i ate lunch here about two days ago and I have to say since it has reopened the portion size seems to have grown. I do recall last time I came to this restaurant prior to their closing I ordered the same plate and got about half as much. The atmosphere in the place is basically just about what you would expect tables, chairs, soda machine, etc. They used to have a giant jar of pickles that you could take from but that seems to have disappeared since the reopening. The ice cream machine in the corner is still there which was a nice surprise. I have to say one of the things I am happiest about is the fact that the owner who either sold the place or lost it is now nowhere to be seen. The guy was a prick and used to sit in the corner on his Apple laptop and was always there. A few people that I worked with went one day decided to order to go food. However after getting their orders they decided to sit down and eat. For some reason the owner came over and started harassing them. I’m not quite sure why he decided to start harassing them foe eating there but he did and from what I understand it was a mistake because they put him in his place. Anyway he was an ass and he’s not there anymore which is the positive side of the story.

This is a chain, but it’s a good chain with reasonable prices for how much you get, so it deserves a 4 star. I’m a brisket guy, and it’s plenty good enough, mac and cheese is OK, but the green beans are good. One of the best parts is you get free soft serve ice cream after your meal. Heck, that alone is worth $ 4.

I wouldn’t recommend this spot. The chicken is dry and the briscuit has no flavor. The bun was ok but for almost $ 16 bucks i expect some decent bbq. The 1 star is for the jalapeño beans that’s seriously it.

Decided to give it a try since they closed and reopened. Dirty tables, bad food, disappointing all around.

Myself and my family love bbq and never been to Dickeys. Thought we would try it and see what it’s all about. Well, the meat was OK, the jalepeno cheese sausage wasn’t bad. The beans were gross and so was the potato salad. It had like sour taste to it, and the rolls. Flat. Nothing to them. Probably won’t be back. The best thing they had was the free ice cream in the corner.

The one star is for the service… the people working there are really nice! But the BBQ was pretty bad. My husband and I took our food to go because we didn’t realize Sunday was kids eat free day… the noise was too much. I ordered the chicken… I guess I was expecting the chicken to be on the bone and juicy. Instead it was cut up and put in a small container and very dry with no sauce. My husband had the spare ribs. He didn’t like them because they seem to be only smoked on the outside… no flavor inside the meat. The waffle fries were soggy. Won’t be back.

«A bridge of silver wings stretches from the dead ashes of an unforgiving nightmare to the jeweled vision of a life started anew.» ― Aberjhani, Journey through the Power of the Rainbow: Quotations from a Life Made Out of Poetry No silver wings here but a decent plate of BBQ, Dickey’s has risen again! Free ice cream as usual and I like the spicy BBQ sauce. Unilocal needs to update their listing.

I’ve didn’t know it was possible to ruin ham, but this place managed to. The chicken was ok but dry, the roll was gross, the mashed potatoes were cold, and the croutons in the salad were mushy. My husband said that his sandwich was ok but nothing special. However beyond the very poor experience with the food; Dickeys is WILDLYOVERPRICED. We gave this place a try because I was given a gift card; and I won’t be back to spend my own money. I was confused at first when the Dickeys location in Hollister barely lasted 6 months before closing. However having now tasted the food and seen the prices, I totally get why they didn’t last in Hollister.

This by far has been one of the best BBQ places I’ve been to. The rolls are so soft, the waffle fries are not too oily & Mac and cheese tastes homemade! I ordered the 1 meat plate with brisket. It was so tender! Pairs great with the spicy BBQ sauce. The southern iced tea is amazing as well! They also offer free ice cream located in the corner of the store. My new favorite BBQ place!

— Dry brisket, dry chicken, no smoke flavor, slimy okra from a bag, bland macaroni, uninspired BBQ sauce selection + roll a dough pillow of carb delight, free ice cream, nice big plastic cups, pleasant staff, fun kitschy dining area with TV’s

I went to Dickies last night with my husband for the first time. The service was iffy, and the food was extremely dry and had no flavor. Considering how expensive it was, we were beyond disappointed. Oh, and the ice cream is free because nobody in their right mind would pay for it. It was very thin and tasted like milky water. We won’t be coming here again.

Bbq… I enjoyed it. This is a new restaurant made to look old. Kind of strange, but it kind of works. The guy behind the counter was awesome and super nice. I liked the service and the food not to bad either. We ordered the brisket, ribs and chopped brisket. I love brisket and it wasn’t to shabby here. Prices were slightly high but bbq is expensive at most places anyhow. The free ice cream left a bit to be desired but I enjoyed the entrée items we ordered.

Went here with my co-worker. This is in a plaza with new development. There was no lunch rush. Had their monday special, pulled pork sandwich with a side of fried okra and iron waffle fries. They have 3 choices of BBQ sauce here, Sweet, Spicy, and original. Food here was good and service from the counter employee was great. She brought out our fried food when it was done. The restaurant was very clean. The sauce area is also very clean. I didn’t see the soft serve ice cream that I saw at the other Dickey’s location in Saratoga. But I did not care for it. Must try? Any location Try again? Yes.

REVIEWALLTHEDICKEY’S! Wrote 2 negative reviews of locations for a chain I like as a whole… well, let’s write some positive reviews and review every one I’ve been to in 6 months :-P Nice location — comfy seating with cool rolling executive leather chairs :-) You order and walk through the line, by the time you reach the cashier your food’s done. Excellent value, especially daily combos. Under $ 10 for a plate with 2 sides and a drink? plus free ice cream and pickles? I challenge you to beat that anywhere in the Bay Area. Pros of Dickey’s * Great meat(except for the ribs). Brisket, pulled pork, spicy cheddar sausage… mmm! * several good if not exceptional sides(onion tanglers, mac & cheese, fried okra) * Free pickles and ice cream * Usually friendly service * Great value * Free ice cream + soda = root beer float? Cons: * Food is solid, not amazing. You can find better BBQ than Dickey’s around Morgan Hill and Gilroy, but the price for the whole package(and free root beer floats!) keeps me coming back :-) 3.5 stars for the food, rounding up to 4 for the price.

I’ve been here several times but never made a review. This one is from last week. We had lunch there and I had the one meat platter, hubby had the two meat platter($ 11 for one meat, $ 12 for two meat). With the drink it was about $ 15 for lunch, which is high for a cheapskate like me. I got the pulled pork. It was delicious! Moist, with the perfect BBQ flavor. The sides were very good. I got the baked potato casserole and the waffle fries(I like potatoes) The fries are good because they cook them on order so you don’t have to worry about cold fries. Here are some random thoughts: Hits: Big Yellow Cup(call me crazy, but I love that cup) Nice and big so you don’t have to go up and down getting refills. Pulled pork was delicious. Love the bread roll. Portions were huge so plenty of leftovers, if you choose. Ice cream machine was free and a nice touch. Big dill pickles free if you want to help yourself. Misses: The young lady at the counter was not friendly Hubby had the brisket which was dry as a bone. I think every time I have had brisket it’s been dry. This was no exception. Hubby had the green beans side and it was horrible! Don’t get it! A final thought – the manager had a laptop and business papers on one of the tables. Just my thought, but the dining room is for dining, take your papers and such to the office. Looks tacky. Overall, the food was good. I’ll be back.
