The food was OK, nothing great. What I found troubling is they cook a lot of the food outside and the grill’s didn’t look very clean. Would not go back just for this reason.

I think I got one of each of everything on the menu. The beef sandwich was sublime. I had the bread hollow out and everything component were very harmonious as it if s epicurean orchestra was playing in my mouth. The location was a super cute depot joint by a train station. I was on my way home to Carmel detouring guided by Unilocal and my tummy. What a nice surprise plus it happen that it was a farmers market day, score! Will be coming often on my commutes. Can’t wait to try the pork belly and lemon grass sandwich.

Best place for a quick lunch or dinner in Morgan Hill hands down. Honestly no review needed; just go try one of their delicious Banh Mi sandwiches whenever you get the chance. I recommend the Curry Chicken, but I’ve heard the pork belly is delicious if you eat pork. Extremely consistent food quality over the past years, and I’ve came frequently.

Friends love and rave about this place. Finally made my way over and was impressed. Happy to find that it’s possible to eat gluten free here!

2 stars because this is the only place I know of in Morgan Hill that sells Vietnamese sandwiches and coffee. –3 stars because the sandwiches aren’t very good. They’re also WAY overpriced.

There are so many second chances you can give a place before you draw the line. I’m sad to say that Jonty’s quality and quantity has gone down since we first stumbled upon the Vietnamese eatery. I ordered a pork belly banh mi sandwich and found an offensively small amount of meat inside. I ordered this sandwich for the meat, not the veggies. The order was incomplete as there was no egg on the rice plate which they were more than happy to charge us for. We paid $ 26 for an incomplete rice plate, meatless banh mi sandwich, two spring rolls, and an upset stomach. I would’ve been more forgiving and less harsh by giving them three stars until I remembered how much money they’ve gyped us of over the last couple of visits. Sorry Jonty’s, we won’t be coming back.

What a fantastic find! Did a Unilocal search when passing through Morgan Hill and decided to give it a try. We had the pork belly with noodles and over rice, and Vietnamese iced coffee. The pork belly was flavorful, cooked with the perfect amount of crispness, and tasted great with both the rice and the noodles. The iced coffee was also really good… strong and not overly sweet. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu items. While eating, heard a bunch of people order the banh mi… and many sounded like regulars! Highly recommend this place!

Best pork belly banh mi in the south bay… haven’t found any that can compare. I don’t live close to Morgan hill, but I always make a trip to get my banh mi fix… haha

This place is amazing. Ok, sure, there were baby mosquitoes hanging out around the restaurant, but fortunately they were easily killed and there weren’t that many. Plus, the food made it totally worth it to brave a bug bite, even though I was paranoid afterward and double checked patted myself to make sure there weren’t any that got on me as I got into my car. I did order to go though, and I went for dinner, around 6pm on a Thursday. There were a few other people waiting for their food. I got the lemongrass pork Banh mi and the steak w/garlic Banh mi(both were sandwiches) and man, I’m glad I did. I had a super long drive home to southern California, and this tasted like salvation as I drove home. Needless to say I devoured both sandwiches, and it was delicious and I continued driving. Yeah, it may have been slightly sketchy so are while driving, but man those sandwiches are amazing!

I went with my friends for lunch. I ordered lemongrass pork noodle, spring roll, and iced Vietnamese coffee. Everything is fine, as expected from a good Vietnamese meal. But the portion of noddle is a bit small. With the listed price close to $ 9, I expected it to be bigger. Coffee is very good. All tables are outdoor. It is a good place to visit on a sunny day.

I just wrote a page, then ditched it: Banh mi/ The pork belly is crack rock. The steak is crazy-good. Adding pâté or an egg almost seems like self-abuse. The curry chicken noodle bowl seems understated/you want to douse it in tha’ roosta’(sriracha) but DON’T! Second bite you start to get the subtleties, tender thigh meat, RICH deep sauce, vanilla? really quite wonderful. The chili should only be consumed as a cup/not a bowl. And even then. ‘Shiny’ is a nice way of describing it. Good spice, not painful, but made from 40-weight meat. 4 kidney beans. And the spring rolls? Softer, cleaner, and with maybe Thai basil or shiso? Dunno. Dammit, I love what they’re doing at Jonty’s. Which sucks, because I hunted out good banh mi places all over Tully/s. San Jose and The City for years. And the GOOD was right in my own backyard. THEREALLYGOOD.

My Vietnamese family approves of this place. It’s amazing and very consistent. Compared to the usual«banh mi»(Vietnamese sandwich) shop, this place is much pricier as they usually run for $ 2.50 and up. Jonty’s food runs from $ 6 – 8. Their price is worth because the meat quality is way better! Meat choices I’ve tried: — Pork belly: so yummy if you’re into fattier stuff. — Anchovy Steak: cooked to perfection every single time! Beautifully medium rare and juicy. You can get that kind of quality in the San Jose banh mi’s, where I usually know the quality is ok. — Lemon grass pork: tasty but can sometimes be a little dry so I recommend the first two meat choices Ways to have your meat: — Sandwich: Yummy, lots of carrot inside. I wish it came with pâté like they usually should but I would recommend adding pâté and a fried egg. — Rice bowl: comes with rice and a yummy citrus soy sauce drizzle on top and fresh salad with cherry tomatoes. — Vermicelli: thing white noodles with some fried onions, thinly sliced veggie with a drizzle of sweet fish sauce. Pretty good and freshening but I like the sandwich or rice bowl better. Pro tip: call ahead to order then pick up so your don’t have to wait in the cold/heat.

Great pork belly sandwiches. The owner can be a little snobby but maybe he is overworked . Great little hole in the wall.

Was really craving a banh mi cha lua so decided to come here for one… Only then to be reminded of why I stopped coming here. Not only is their sandwich already over priced, they charged an extra $ 1.50 just to add patae! total cost of $ 8.10!

Most delicious, well-executed Bahn Mi I’ve had yet. The Food: I feel like most Bahn Mi’s are treated too casually. Thrown together for the low price and without care to the individual ingredients. Jontys asked me how I wanted the steak done. That’s amazing. The individual ingredients were all very fresh, the anchovy seasoned steak was out of this world. Comes on a longer thinner roll, but It had that chew/crunch of great Bahn Mi bread. Might have to take a Caltrain pilgrimage to Morgan Hill just to get another.

I like stopping here now when I have long drive to SoCal, esp when there’s still traffic this far south. And it beats going deeper in SJ. The quality is still authentic with added benefits — the banh mi bread is thinner but as crispy(I like that), very generous portion of meat and pâté(be sure specifically request it). The guy is very sweet and friendly too. They make it more than a stop off the Caltrain. Plenty parking, very relaxing with the backdrop of the mtns.

Found a gem in the small little town of Morgan Hill. A little shack next to the train station in down town Morgan Hill, you would never think this tiny little place could serve up such tasty morsels. Steak Vietnamese Sandwich — A winner winner for sure as chicken dinner. Grills up the slices of steak just how you want it. Each bite is a amalgamation of tastes that just lights up your taste buds. The slides of pepper, cilantro, dikon/radish, and some of their secret sauce. Fatty Pork Vietnamese Sandwich — If you’re a fan of fatty pork, you’re in for a treat. I was a bit surprised that they had this type of meat here. The quality of meat was great, the type that I normally see at Korean BBQ places. It’s inexpensive, quick, tasty, and hits the spot. Definitely a staple in my lunch rotation.

Even though there are a million places to get a Vietnamese sandwich in San Jose, I wouldn’t mind driving to Morgan Hill for Jonty’s sandwiches. Add an egg to the anchovy garlic steak sandwich or add pâté to the pork belly sandwich, and you won’t be disappointed. Shoot, why not add both pâté and an egg to their Cha Lua?! Okay, next time!
All their protein options are wonderful and tasty, tender and cooked to perfection. My favorite, and usually my weakness, has got to be their pork belly. This pork belly exerts some kind of gravitational pull… in a form of crispy skin and legitimate fattiness. I’ve had pork belly sandwiches elsewhere, but this is one to remember. Sometimes I have to change it up a bit and choose between their lemon grass pork and anchovy garlic steak. Oh life can be tough at times. I mean, my taste buds are always picky, but they’re always content with any of these options. In addition to protein, EVERYTHING between the buns are fresh! Watch out for them jalapenos! Obviously, I like this place. Cozy outdoor seating, very friendly service, refreshing drinks, and quality eats… What more can you ask for?!
