Decided to celebrate my husband’s birthday here. It took about 10 minutes for our waiter to introduce himself & take our drink order. One of the appetizers we ordered was the bacon-wrapped dates. It looked like they took 1 date and cut it in half to fill the plate. A total of 3 full dates. The other appetizers weren’t that memorable. The drinks came out randomly. This happened with the entrees and desserts, as well. I found that to be odd. One person would get their dish, 5 minutes would pass and 2 other dishes would come out. That doesn’t usually happen, this was a first. The burger sounded amazing. I saw the staff bring a few out to other tables and immediately changed my mind. The bread overwhelmed the meat. The meat patty was barely visible. I went with the steak frites. The steak was nicely cooked, the rosemary demi glaze was the best part. I couldn’t even tell the fries were parmesan truffle. The menu said there was garlic in the dish but I don’t recall tasting any. Nothing was really memorable. There wasn’t an appetizer, entrée or dessert that I would crave during the week and rush over to enjoy. It seems like they tried but missed the mark. Our bill was $ 300. We had a good sampling of the menu. None of our other guests were impressed either. I just moved to MH but it looks like I will still be driving to Campbell for a real burger at OCK.

I had a great pleasure in having lunch at this restaurant the other day my friend and I went and were greeted promptly at the door by a friendly face. We were seated promptly and had water and bread at our table almost before looking at the menu.. The menu had a delightful selection I chose Chris calamari with the delicious dipping sauce and the roasted red pepper soup very yummy my friend have the spinach salad and the soup also… Moritzo has done it again… His true passion is food and serving people with quality service be sure to visit this new Gastro pub as soon as you can

Great new place in downtown MH. Started with the Calamari app, very lightly breaded and cooked perfectly w/a citrusy vinaigrette type dipping sauce. Awesome! Had the short ribs for dinner, wow, literally melts in your mouth and seasoned perfectly. I’ll be a regular,)

One sentence… You need to come here and order the lobster nicoise salad and the calamari. So tender, light, healthy with delicate flavors of lemon and jalapeño. Cooked to perfection. Not too chewy or rubbery. The chef even came out to our table to describe the dish. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

The Prime Rib and Steak Frites were delicious. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. The green beans they served with the Prime Rib were amazing as well. My wife and I look forward to exploring their menu further and it will probably replace Ladera as the default date night spot in Morgan Hill.

This place is called a gastrobar, but it’s more like a restaurant to me. So I’ve been here about 3 times, and each time their menus have changed. I loved it as the Good Fork, but as M.R. Slim’s it’s not as memorable. Strange, because when you get your bill, it still says the Good Fork on top. The 2nd time I came was around September/October of last year, and the menu mainly consisted of sandwiches, burgers, and maybe 3 fancier entries. I remember getting one of their specialty waffle sandwiches and it wasn’t too great. Their fries and mac n cheese and the focaccia bread they gave was fantastic though. My third visit was last week. The menu again has changed. It’s now like in between the Good Fork and the 1st visit at M.R. Slims. Everything was decent, but service was so extremely slow. The servers and owner were very nice and passionate, but it was over 2 hours for a meal of seemingly simple stuff. Their mac n cheese was still good. Brussel sprouts were tasty but I was expecting there to be bacon because that’s what it said, maybe it was in the sauce? idk … Steak quesadilla is the tiniest of quesadillas I have ever seen in my life. Burger looked dry, but the people I dined with said it wasn’t too bad. They really enjoyed their homemade potato chips. I think normally I’d rate this place a 3.5 stars, but due to the slow service, I’m bumping it down a star.

I will admit I was timid to try this place based on some of their reviews. I am SO glad we did, it was great! Daniel was so helpful, accommodating and nice. We had the First Dates, very good. Then I had the Fat Boy burger, which was delicious and huge. Accompanied with homemade potato chips. Daniel and Ruben totally went out of their way to make us Sriacha ketchup and also included a little of the homemade garlic aoli. Delicious. My friend had the Cobb Salad, which was also super good. Large portions, great service… not the Good Fork, but equally fun and inventive with their play on classics like Caesar Salad. We were able to come back later and my BF had the Caesar and the burger. Chris was super professional and kind. We highly recommend coming here, thanks for a great experience… we were celebrating our engagement.

I loved this place as the Good Fork. Visit the new place 3 times now, two were OK and I would have rated them as 4 star. This last time we were a group of 9 and the food was good but the service was terrible. It was not at all crowded, to the contrary there were only a few tables occupied. They didn’t seem short handed either so I’m not sure why the service was so bad. It finally got to the point that one of our group had to seek someone to find out where our appetizers were after waiting 45 minutes. Sadly I think we will have to find another go to place when we visit Morgan Hill.

The wife and I liked this place back when it was The Good Fork. Not sure why the place changed but we decided to give it a try for lunch last Saturday. The décor seems to be pretty much the same but I can’t say the same for the food. The wife had scallops with risotto. She said the scallops were good but there were only 2 on the plate. We certainly expected more considering the $ 16 price tag. The lunch menu was quite limited. About the only thing that vaguely appealed to me was the steak fritte. Well the steak was small and very fatty,(I ended up cutting about half of the fat away) and the fries were absolutely swimming in garlic. Way too much garlic flavor for me. So this place seems to be pretty hit or miss. The wife liked her scallops but my dish left much to be desired. It is certainly overpriced as neither my wife’s or my dishes were worth the $ 16 and $ 18 price tags.

Disappointing. The«Five Mile Fries» are described as a poutine style fries. Poutine fries are usually loaded with cheese curds and gravy — these were so DRY. The duck confit«gravy» was really just dryish bits of duck thrown on top of some fries. There were some shreds of cheese– not curds — and not much. This dish is a total let down. The rest of our dinner was okay, but it was a bad start. Dessert was also lacking. Dry bread pudding and bland pineapple upside down cake. Bad first and last impression — unfortunately, these are usually the two impressions people remember. There are some interesting things on the menu that, in concept, makes you want to return. But the question is, can the kitchen execute? Don’t know if I’d come back.

My mom and I really loved coming to The Good Fork, so my mom and I decided to drop into M.R. Slim’s for lunch to see what’s changed. My mom ordered the Fat Boy Burger with no bun, a side salad and I ordered the Buffalo Bill. We both shared the Tomato Bisque soup. I really really loved the soup! It was full of flavor and was great to dip the bread in! My mom really enjoyed her burger and salad as well. Unfortunately for me my Buffalo Bill had some issues, the meat was cooked perfectly but there were no pickled onions and barely any gorgonzola cheese or aoli sauce on it. so I ended up with a very dry burger. I was really hungry so I opted to just eat it in lieu of sending it back for more toppings. I think had the burger been made the way it was intended, it would have been amazing. So I’ll have to give it another try. As I side note I REALLYREALLY miss the potato chips that came with the burgers when it was The Good Fork. They came in this adorable little fryer basket. Now they serve fries with their burgers, which is fine, they taste good, but I really miss those chips!

My wife and I have been frequenting this place for several months and we’ve been nothing but impressed with the food quality! The servers are professional and ever so attentive. It’s a plus to have owner and chef Maurizio on hand to occasionally surprise the patrons at the bar with some signature dish he’s been working on. M.R. Slims is a must for anyone in Morgan Hill or anyone traveling through. Awesome food great service!

I’ve been here twice now and both times have left me a little wanting. The first time I got the five mile fries which were AMAZING and I also got the chicken and gravy special. It too was delicious but my boyfriends pork chop was super dry and really just ruined his whole meal. This time I came back specifically for the fries because I had loved them so much but I was extremely disappointed. Not the same at all, barely any gravy or cheese and a mound of fries under the hat stuck cheese. I thought the entrees were good but overpriced for the potion sized. My mom ordered the beer clams and chorizo as a meal and even though it was suppose to be an appetizer it was till extremely small. She got 6 clams…6 clams really??? Even for an appetizer I mean come on… and it came in a GIANT bowl which almost made it worst because it was almost mocking you. I was a huge fan of the good fork and I love downtown Morgan hill, I really am trying to like this place as I am a local but it’s not my favorite and certainly not better than the good fork.

Went there for the second time. Tasty, but tiny quinoa dish(bad value for money), my husband had a bland tasting burger, that sounded great on paper. We loved ‘The Good Fork’, so far this change is not favorable, and I am not sure that we want to try again.

We arrived at 7:00PM Wednesday evening and it took 5 minutes for someone to seat the two of use. Once seated, it took another 10 – 15 minutes for the waitress to stop by our table get a drink order. Ten minutes later, the waitress stopped by to take our dinner order — we ordered the pork chops. After waiting 30 minutes without receiving neither our drinks nor our dinner, we walked out. I doubt we will ever return to this restaurant. BTW, «$$» seems inaccurate, should be «$$$».

Second visit. Again a different waitress was just as confused as the waitress at our first visit. This time we didn’t get any bread and dipping sauce, but the table 2 feet from us did, and it was an oil and vinegar dipping sauce, not the sage one. Drinks took forever. Our appetizer of green fried tomatoes, I swear they were the size of campari tomatoes and only 4 slices, came with our dinner, really, again? Our fries were dry and cold. So disappointed. Will not return.

Morgan Hill! You surprised me with this place. What do you get when you combine hip décor and great tasting food? A true gastropub! Which, is something I would not have expected in this city’s downtown. But by the look of things, their downtown area is really starting to take off and get upscale. Bravo! We had the Bird and Waffle(aka Chicken and Waffles) and Short Rib Quesadilla. The quesadilla was ok but the salsa verde and cilantro crema helped kit up the flavor. The same could not be said about the other dish. It was delicous! The boneless thigh was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The waffle was a great accompaniment. The maple syrup was definitely optional! Service was first rate and very attentive. Kudos to you Blake! We we definitely be back to Downtown Morgan Hill and M.R. Slim’s!

Decided to try out this new place, where the Good Fork once was. The fried polenta was filling, the duck confit tamales where not as moist as I would have liked and masa crumbled. The fried green tomato was very tasty and the clams and chorizo was a surprisingly good combination. The servers do need a little more training though. Hope they can get that down so it is not so awkward. I will definitely be returning here to try more dishes.
