Love this little lunch/coffee place! Wonderful welcoming atmosphere, great tasting fresh food, and the nicest staff! Everyone makes you feel like a guest in their home!

Originally from the area but moved away after college. Came through because my friends rave about it. Was delightfully pleased. Raegan(spelling?) was fantastic and the drinks were delicious. The quality of the espresso was great, too. Thankful for good coffee on a dreary afternoon.

This would be five stars if it wasn’t so damn small. The dining area is tiny. It fills up fast because this place is great. Great food, great coffee. It could/should make it in a spot twice this size.

Personable staff, handsome atmosphere. Had the Reuben Sandwich. Delicious. Well prepared with lean corned beef. High end ingredients. Will come back next time I’m here.

It is one of my favorite places to eat in Morganton. Yesterday was Vegetarian day special order. falafel sandwich. It was very very good. I was thrilled to see the menu that had falafel !! As usual I love the place and food is usually very good and enjoyable. It doesn’t look like I can upload pictures of my sandwich. :-(Usually one of my favorite sandwiches is Apollo. goat cheese and lots of vegetables.

It’s unfortunate that I have to down vote this place. This is my favorite sandwich shop in town, but, as others have said, the service leaves something to he desired. I typically place to-go orders, and doing so over the phone is seldom a good experience. I called in an order today, had to take over 5 minutes just to ensure my meal was taken down correctly, only to find out when I got there that they did not put my order through to the cooks. Also, when I first started eating here I was told that as long as they had the ingredients I could order any of their past lunch specials even if they weren’t on the menu. A few visits later they refused to do this for me regardless of ingredient availability. I’m sad to say that service(and, in some cases, competence) in this restaurant seems worse with every visit. That being said, this place is easily a 4 or 5 star restaurant for a small town if not for the counter staff. The cooks seem talented and personable enough. The employees at the counter could take a lesson from them. Also, they only serve food until 3pm which is highly disappointing for those of us that work until 5; should we care to get something tasty on the way home.

Pretty good little spot; the sandwiches are quality and the staff is friendly enough. The coffee is good. My only reservation about going five stars is the sophistication of some of the baristas and the lack of alternative brewing methods. But once I explained what a macchiato was(not a caramel latte, thanks Starbucks), the drink I got was exquisite.

Great local coffee spot with breakfast and pastries on site. The have a good selection of beans and flavorings for those who prefer that sort of thing. The Quiche is phenomenal and everything is prepared fresh. You may wait a little longer than starbucks but it is well worth it. I haven’t tried their lunch yet but they have local ingredients and boars head brand meat. Swing in for a morning stop and you’ll dig it for sure.

When I first visited the Grind Café I thought I’d found heaven. One of the best sandwiches I’d had in a long time. After frequenting the place I realized the service is sub-par for a coffee shop. As a former coffee shop employee I am really disappointed every time I go in there with how just uninterested the employees are in being friendly to customers or trying to get them interested in being there. Its a shame too since they are one of the few places that has nightly events which could be great.

My husband and I stopped for lunch at this café in Morganton. I was quite surprised to note the level of sophistication for a coffee shop in a small town. I was also pleased and to discover that they serve beer and wine. I ordered a salad, which contained baby greens, dried cranberries, pecans and gorgonzola cheese. It came with a vinagrette, which was not too sour the way some vinagrettes are. My husband ordered a BLT on wheat with fruit and had no complaints. The staff was friendly, upbeat and polished. Hope to return!

Better Americano than Starbucks, & I love Starbucks. Some reviewers have complained about the service. Yes it can at times be rather slow, but since I’m never in a hurry when I come here, it doesn’t bother me that much. They have some really good sandwiches here too.

I grew up in a small town and the atmosphere is typically to keep it friendly. This place have most of what you want in a GRIND café, no fresh fruit, unhelpful and disrespectful staff, pastries that look like they were made centuries ago with layers of dust on top. My biggest complaint is that you have to have a$ 4 minimum to receive the password for internet. Although my espresso was only $ 2.79(roughly) I always gave the girls 1.5 or over $ 4 with tip. Everything was OK until the 12th or 15th time, an employee walks up to me and tells the that it needs to be $ 4 before tip in order to use the WIFI internet… Its not like they could have told me that any other time while I was there… In all honestt, it was a nice setup, but in all fairness, there was nothing else nice about it.

Great place to listen to music in the evenings — upstairs. Beer, wine and great local musicians. If you’re lucky, you might even catch one of the owners playing the trumpet — and he’s damn good. Worth going!

I live in town and have visited The Grind Café a few times. It’s in walking distance to my house and I find myself really wanting to like it here. But each and every time I experience lousy service. But the coffee is quite good. I love Café au laits, simply coffee with steamed milk. Every time I order this, the staff is confused and makes it incorrectly. Not only do they stink at it but they don’t know what to charge for it. I ended up getting into an argument with the girl taking my order over the prices. I was charged over $ 4.00 for a large café au lait. She told me it was for the milk. which is dumb because they offer free milk on the counter. I went in today to get a regular drip coffee(how can you screw that up, right?) and decided to order a breakfast burrito and a plain bagel. I waited 20 minutes for the food, only to get sabotaged by another customer, who took my food. I had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make me a new order. The burrito was nothing special, with canned salsa on the side. When they presented me with the order, I found they forgot my bagel, which took another 10 min to get. No apologies given and the rude customer who took my good, cracked«I liked eating your breakfast, it was really good» as I was leaving. I made the suggestion to the staff of asking for the customer’s name when taking the order to help alleviate that problem. They guy just stared at me with a blank expression. If they just sold their coffee by the pound, I would buy it so I could make it at home to reduce having to interact with the staff here. Overall, the place has potential but it’s way too expensive for what it is. I would love another choice in the downtown area. That’s the con of living in a small town. I have to drive to Starbucks. At least there the service and product is consistent.

Great service & yummy food. More than happy to make drinks for the non coffee inclined. Wish their wares were more affordable as they can be a bit high.

Grind Café is a small cute coffeehouse. I love people and the relaxing atmosphere. The best part of Grind Café is creative names of coffee flavors such as «Tulip Bud Latte» and«Cherry Blossom Latte.» I also think this place is definitely a deaf friendly café. I think I am one of their favorite customers. They know my favorite lunch: veggie wrap with spicy mayo and black peas salad.
