Hunter’s Chicken & Waffle Shack

This place is a hidden gem. I grabbed take out at the request of my co-​workers last week, and well, my life has been changed! The chicken tenders are AMAZING. Hell, everything we got was amazing (baked beans, wedges, collards, and corn fritters). You know the phrase, «so good it’ll make you slap ya mama?» I would seriously consider slapping my mama if it meant I could have those chicken tenders again. It seems to be a family run business and the young cute gentleman at the front was super friendly and helpful when I called trying to figure out what to order for my department. The waffle maker was down when I called in our order so I didn’t get to have the whole chicken and waffle experience but that is totally OK because now I just have another reason to come back! I can only assume it puts Roscoe’s in Cali to shame!

Seriously delicious and a great price for the amount of food you get. It’s all take out (no dining area) and really convenient. It’s pretty fast but you can call ahead if you’re in a rush.

Randy and his family have got a great thing going here. Awesome food for a decent price that make for a great combination. I work nearby and grab supper here about once a week. The chicken tenders are amazing, the potato wedges are great and the honey mustard is perfect for dipping.
By the way, they make a GREAT burger as well!
The only downside is they only do takeout, but as long as you expect it that shouldn’t be a problem.

If you like good olé fashioned homemade southern fried chicken, then this is the place for you! The chicken is arguably the best chicken served in Burke County. The tater wedges are delicious as well as the other sides (we had the slaw, baked beans and collard greens.)
As far as prices, they are way cheaper than KFC and Bojangles (and trust me, KFC and Bojangles do not compare to this chicken!)
The only downside to this place is that it is a take out only restaurant.

This is seriously the best chicken and waffle I have ever had. This is a take-​out only restaurant. The family run place is very friendly with great options. I really love that they have kool-​aid often as a drink option. If only more restaurants did that it would be a better world. The downsides are that they can run out of chicken pretty quickly depending on the time and day. They have limited hours. The only downside is that they serve artificial syrup with the waffle. Real maple syrup is the only way to go. I fully intend to continue eating their chicken.

Nothing is better than chicken and waffles. Especially when it’s made with a homemade family receipt.
