I like the atmosphere, food, and prices. But every time I order pickup, it’s wrong. Every. Single. Time.

Waiting for a table at Oliverio’s: The closest thing I’ve ever witnessed to an entire restaurant breaking out into a Mad Max-Style Hobbes-ian Civil War thanks to terrible restaurant management. We made a reservation as we expected the restaurant to be very busy on a big WVU night. We were seated 2 hours after the reservation. Many large families with elderly members were waiting similarly absurd periods of time, all with reservations. A lot of folks just left; for whatever reason we waited it out — perhaps because the head server and managers repeatedly told us we «were next on the list» or that it would«just be another 15 minutes» while seating tables in front of us. So many people were in this predicament that the bar and foyer became absolutely jammed with people jockeying to get in front of each other in line, which, as you can imagine, is quite unpleasant. Folks were starting to lose it as bartenders, waiters, waitresses, and managers responded with insincere varieties of «I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do about this.» Despite our frantic efforts to order as soon as we were seated, the food took over an hour to arrive. It was lukewarm. Some of the meat that came out was still refrigerator-cold in the center. I’m simply glad we weren’t offered dessert menus; on a celebratory occasion such as this one, I suppose we would’ve been obliged to order something, and then waited another half-hour. Perhaps the lack of urgency on the part of the maitre d’, waitstaff, and bartenders was tied to the fact that all of the large parties celebrating graduation had their tips included in their bills. A failure as complete as this can only rest on the management for an utter lack of preparedness for a large number of people to come into your restaurant to try and eat food.

NOTFORCELIACS. This is a huge warning for my fellow Celiacs who must eat gluten-free. They specifically list items on their menu as gluten-free, but the veracity of that statement is questionable. I went here this evening for the first time wanting to expand my GF dining options in Morgantown. And, my friend and I specifically chose Oliverio’s because they have a «gluten-free menu.» Do not trust this menu, the knowledge of the wait staff, or the knowledge of the chef /cook. The menu specifically lists GF pasta as an option within the section of «pasta meals.» I asked, then, for the fettuccine alfredo, and the server says she needs to check to make sure the sauce is GF(which I appreciate). She comes back and says that the chef says that he «cannot guarantee it’s GF because they use cream in the sauce.» I didn’t even try to explain that cream is 100% milk. So, I ask for a grilled chicken salad as an entrée, which has the«gluten free» label next to it. The salad comes out with a pile of french fries on it. I ask the server if the fries are gluten free.(Because, it mentioned nothing about fries in the bloomin’ description of a salad!) She goes to the kitchen to ask and then comes back to say that all the fryers are shared — and that they fry battered vegetables and things in them. I explain that means that the fries *are not* gluten free. I dug food out from around where the fries were(after I picked them off) and soon noticed that the«grilled chicken» had some kind of saucy-type glaze drizzled on it. I gave up after that, fairly certain that I had been glutened. Why? you ask. Well, because there were other«gluten-free» items listed on that menu with terriyaki glazes on them. I seriously doubt this restaurant is buying gluten-free terriyaki sauce, so I purposely avoided those items. I think, though, that some still found its way onto my chicken(again, even though the menu description did NOT mention a glaze). Two hours after getting home I’m feeling unwell and am starting to show signs of a «glutening.» It’s hard finding safe GF places to eat in Morgantown. I couldn’t find any reviews of Oliverio’s that mentioned the Celiac experience. That’s what prompted me to post(after going dark on Unilocal for years). Good luck, fellow Celiacs! Here’s to safe eating for all of us.

Went there, April 30, on a Saturday night, 35 minutes to get table, which is acceptable, spent two hours at table, not the servers fault, he was more than helpful, bad management, never will return, food so, so.

I know that there are a lot of mixed reviews, but we had a really nice dinner with very good service and very good food. We sat on the patio. I think it is kind of ridiculous that they can’t take reservations. We did the priority seating and still waited 25 minutes for our table. Groups that came in after us were told they could expect a 45 minute wait, even with call-ahead seating. My advice is to do the priority seating and prepare to wait. Our waiter, Dakota, was prepared to answer any questions we had. I can tell that the staff are well-trained here and really do know the menu. The bottle of Chianti we ordered was actually sold out, but our waiter suggested another bottle at a similar price point. We started with the stuffed banana peppers. They were spicy, the Italian sausage was some of the best I’ve had, and the peppers weren’t drowning in cheese and marinara. Stuffed peppers are one of my favorite things and Oliverio’s are some of the best I’ve had. Everyone notes that the breadsticks are great and they were. We also enjoyed our salads which were a lot fresher and tastier than typical house salads are. One thing I really appreciated was that our salads didn’t appear until after we were finished with the appetizer, and then we didn’t get our entrees until after everyone finished their salads. It’s nice to not be rushed even though the restaurant was busy. I had the diablo for my entrée(chicken and Italian sausage, peppers and onions, linguine in a spicy cream sauce). I appreciated that the sauce wasn’t too thick or too rich. I’m a spice fiend and this pasta actually did have some heat – from the peppers and the sauce itself. I’m glad when I’m promised spice and a restaurant actually delivers. However, the spice wasn’t overpowering. My dad had the Roman(italian sausage, peppers, and onions over angel hair) and my mom had veal parmigiana over angel hair. Everyone enjoyed their dinners although the portions of angel hair were kind of overwhelming. We all love veal. It doesn’t show up on menus much, and when it does, sometimes it can be tough. My mom’s piece of veal was thin, crispy, tender, and flavorful. Over-all, we were really happy with every aspect of our meal and are looking forward to coming back. I’ve seen some negative reviews that cited high prices, but our dinners didn’t cost much more than nasty-ass Olive Garden would. This might be more a splurge meal(by Morgantown standards), but most of the non-steak entrees are between 15 – 22 dollars. Everything here tasted fresh and home-made. And honestly, some experiences are worth paying for when food, service, and ambiance are as impressive as Oliverio’s was last night.

Modern restaurant right along the river. They have a nice patio to enjoy some drinks with the nice weather. I sat at the bar and noticed that although it’s an Italian restaurant, the bar offers a special sushi menu. Everything looked pretty good and decently priced. I came during happy hour so glasses of wine or $ 3.50, and all appetizers are either $ 5 or $ 6. I ordered a salmon salad and it was delicious! Huge portion of salmom glazed with a teriyaki sauce and topped with sweet pecans. Service is great, the bartenders were nice and accommodating.

Okay so the atmosphere, gets this place 4stars abs the so did the service we got other wise it is just a solid three stars for the food. I’m sorry yes just three. I was sooo disappointed in my «risotto» it was just fluffy rice my child could have made. My salmon was ok I think I have made better at home and my fiancé s pasta was lacking flavor but it tasted ok. However the breadsticks were phenomenal I mean like I asked that he please don’t bring anymore, as I had already had one and a half and I am currently«low carbing“it My daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo it was pretty good. Then we shared the a small pice of cheese cake.

We had called in a reservation for 3 at 6PM, we arrived a few minutes early and were seated after only a couple of minutes. They already had ice water on the tables for each of us and we were immediately greeted by our waiter who answered all of our questions and gave some recommendations. They start out by bring out some of the best bread I have ever had, all of us really enjoyed it. They have a good wine and drink selection, so we ordered a couple of drinks and soon we were ready to order. We started off with the sweet and spicy calamari, which was really good. I had the medditeranian trio which comes with scallops, shrimp, muscles, peppers in a linguine pasta and a salad. The salad was just a simple side salad and nothing to rave about the trio was large and it was okay just a little under seasoned. I didn’t even finish half of it. They offered more bread and though we definitely wanted more we passed. The regular salmon dish was okay too, just a little under seasoned as well. The kids fettuccine alfredo dish was reported to be pretty good. To top it off we all shared a slice of german chocolate cheescake, which was pretty good. Our server was great, very attentive and respectful. Prices were reasonable $ 22 for the trio $ 15 for the salmon $ 7 for the fettuccine, $ 9 for the calamari. The only two negatives. The bench seat was ripped and cracking Underseasoned food

Went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and everything was top notch. For appetizers we has crab balls, bruschetta, and shrimp cocktail, all of which were great. Try the crab balls if you’ve never tried them before, so good! Plus it’s just fun to say«crab balls!» Everyone really liked their dinner. I had the grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and summer vegetables. It was just ok, with the mashed potatoes being the best part. The desserts were unreal. The best tiramisu I’ve had in a while and the chocolate cake was very rich a decadent. The service was great, I would definitely recommend them for a group function.

Oliverio’s is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. The parking situation can sometimes be tricky. The atmosphere is amazing. Very romantic and upscale. Delicious Italian food. Great service! Good for special occasions or date nights!

They get a star for the pleasant and friendly wait staff. The food was awful though. Breadsticks were cold and tough. My date actually said that his pasta fagioli was better at Olive Garden, and we don’t voluntarily go there. Ever. My caprese salad could have been delightful, but the copious amount of arugula made it impossible to get any of the balsamic vinegar or olive oil on the tomatoes and mozzarella. My dates cheese ravioli had the brightest, reddest tomato sauce I have ever seen, and after trying a bite, they were the saltiest raviolis I’ve ever had. Complete fail on the food. We won’t be trying them again.

Great meal, and the bread on the table with the grated parm & cracked pepper was fresh from an oven. Service Is great, along with a clean & pleasant atmosphere.

It’s an OK place. It’s a bit expensive, and I never seem to get good service… fair at best. The food is also«OK.» But, it’s generally clean and people seem to enjoy themselves there. The outdoor patio is a big plus.

Our family loves this restaurant for authentic Italian food. The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly. I recommend getting the Penne olio or any of the seafood entrees.

Let me preface this by saying I worked in restaurants for 10 years. I was a shift manager and I trained servers at one of the highest selling restaurants in a private chain. Probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. Our server was not only not attentive but completely dismissive of half of our party. It’s quite rude to assume the older guests are the only people to cater to since they will be paying the bill and leaving the tip. Three of us in the party were treated like bratty kids(we’re all in our late 20s) while my sister in law’s parents were given the proper level of treatment. Our waters were refilled once and that was after my glass sat empty for half the meal. I’m not necessarily a fast drinker but my glass was 80% ice so there wasn’t much water to begin with. They did not do a two bite check back. We essentially went neglected the whole meal. The food itself wasn’t that bad but the level of service was horrible. I wouldn’t return unless I was getting food to go. Based on my observations, they need a food runner and a busser on the staff. This would allow the servers to be more attentive to their tables. I didn’t notice any manager on the floor so I don’t know how the business is being actively managed or how the staffing levels were. Regardless, the little interaction we did have with our server was not positive.

I am new to the area and this was the first restaurant I visited. The service was amazing and the staff was friendly. We were able to meet the owner and he even bought us a drink. The food was out of this world and fairly priced. You get what you pay for! We will be going back.

If I could give this place a negative star I would. Service was horrible. The food was cold and we had a table of 8. The girl that waited on us was rude and I cannot believe people act like this that actually work for tips. Went to this place when they first opened and they were pretty good, I didn’t Unilocal then but I would have given them 4⁄5 stars but now… no way! Do yourself a favor and save your money and time. Follow up. The manager got a hold of me through Unilocal. She apologized and said she would rectify the problem. She also said she was going to send me and my wife a coupon/gift certificate for dinner. Never received anything. Seems the management is where the problem starts and the apples don’t fall far from the tree.

Great outdoor eating option, overlooking the river. Came here on a West Virginia stopover en route to Pittsburgh for a beer and a quick bite, for which Oliverio’s sufficed. Tasty flatbread(prosciutto and pesto), decent beer, very odd service. Pickled apples are just doused in vinegar.
