Service is great but food was terrible. The chicken Tikka Masala tasted like chicken in spaghetti sauce.

The staff can best be described as grudgingly helpful: they will honor your requests, but they don’t look happy about it. Food is strictly average ~ nothing is either outstanding or sub-par. We landed here out of convenience, & had a fine time, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to return. We did appreciate the BYOB option :-)

Love this place. Food is fresh! When I’m in the area, this is always on the top of my list. Heard the lunch buffet is a great deal…

I’ve spent a good deal of time in India, and outside of a trip to Edison, nowhere near here will you get better Indian food, with better service, or a more pleasant atmosphere, than you will here. Our first few visits we found the servings a little light on meat(typical of traditional Indian) but they have noticeably increased the servings to western standards, without sacrificing any of the outstanding depth of flavor you hope for(or raising the prices).

Five stars. The first time I went to Cinnamon was on a Saturday for dinner. I was told that they had an amazing buffet and was hoping they’d have it for weekend dinners, but it was orders off of menu only. Complimentary pita chips served were so delicious that we had to get a refill of the basket. For entrées, we had the salmon marsala curry and the goat curry. They both came in stainless pots that looked very small, but the portion is quite large. We finished about a half of all ordered foods and took the rest back home for next day’s lunch. Promptly after our first visit, we went back for the lunch buffet. The fried appetizers were a bit soggy and greasy, but overall, everything was good, especially for the price we were paying. We would definitely return the next time we have Indian food cravings. The service was prompt and the staffs were very friendly.

Food was great, the chicken tikka wasn’t over done with cream so your not in a food coma after just one small serving like most lunch buffet establishments. The staff was friendly for the most part and on point, as son as your dish was empty they clear it so you can go for seconds, thirds or fourths. Price was very reasonable we had a party of 6 and everyone ordered a drink; bedsides water and we managed to walk-away with a bill under $ 100. If you frequent at Indian restaurants you know this is a very unusual even with everyone taking part in the buffet menu.

This is one of the best spots around for a good Indian meal. They have so many entrees to choose from, and they’re all absolutely delicious! It’s a casual ambiance, but definitely a great spot to grab dinner with a friend. It’s not too crowded during the week, and the portion sizes are just right. You’ll leave feeling very satisfied and I’ve always had enough to bring home a little leftovers. My favorite is the chicken makhani, and be sure to get some of their garlic naan. They don’t have dinner buffets during the week though, so if you want to try a variety of dishes be sure to come for lunch. Their lunch buffet is during the week and on weekends. I think this is ideal for a weekend buffet brunch. The weekend buffets get quite crowded though, and the service seems to be lacking. But I’d say the food is worth it. For $ 10 on the weekdays(Mon-Thurs) and $ 11 on weekends(Fri-Sun) you have a huge spread to choose from. They have vegetarian and meat options on the buffet line. Appetizers and sides included salad, raita, vegetable biryani, naan and pakora. Vegetarian options include chole and saag paneer. Non-vegetarian options were chicken tikka masala, goat curry, kadai chicken. I have to say this is one of the most extensive and tasty Indian buffets I’ve tried. Also, they offer a Sunday dinner buffet for $ 16. I can only assume it’s even better than their lunch! I’ll definitely be back to see what the dinner buffet offers. Buffet hours: 11:30am-2:30pm every day Dinner hours: Sun-Thurs 5:30−10pm, Fri & Sat 5:30 — 10:30pm

We decided to try this place for the first time last night after seeing many good reviews on the food. The website says they are open until 10:30 so we walked in with some wine at 9:15 to have dinner.(I called first to ask if it was ok and was told we did not need reservations for 2 people) The food was very fresh and flavorful how ever the customer service was ATROCIOUS! Not only were we rushed through our meal, they put the check on the table as we were still eating, never offered us a dessert menu and then asked us to pay cash or credit in the middle of dinner because they wanted to close out the register. This was all at 10:05 pm. On top of that as soon as I put down my fork they came over to take our food and wrap it up as I was still chewing! The staff was watching us like hawks so they could clean the table while the other half stood by the door texting as if we were holding them up. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Never again!

One of my all time favorite Indian restaurants in NJ/NYC area. The food is so good, and the service is great. They have a great buffet as well, but I personally love coming here for dinner. The portions are huge and there is always leftovers! Saag Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala are my favorites, as well as Malai Kofta.

Please excuse my lack of food jargons here but I’ll write my review based on my first try on Indian food. While I don’t know what authentic Indian food is like, I enjoy the food that they offered here. When you first sit down, they give you a basket of thin crispy chip bread(LOL @ «chip bread») with three different type of sauces, apricot, green spicy smush something, and tangy sweet brown sauce. It is really good. I was impressed. Then I ordered the chicken korma because it said cashews and I like cashews and some crispy chicken«pekora». The pekora was okay, it tasted like fried chicken with no seasoning and kind of bland. I was disappointed since the name sounded so interesting. Next came the chicken korma with cashew cream sauce. I’m not sure how to explain this but it tasted more cream than cashew and it wasn’t seasoned that well at all. I guess I expect the but flavor to come out a bit more(maybe even a hint of sweetness?) But all I tasted was heavy cream with pepper on cooked chicken. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I dipped my bland garlic naan into my bland korma mixed with bland rice and just felt empty inside. I heard so much good things about this place and was prepared to be blown away, but it felt like a squeaky weak fart instead. For a completely clueless Indian food foodie, that’s all I can say. On the other hand, the service here was great. The waiter is so nice and attentive. We give it a five star for service. Maybe I’ll try here again next time when I am more experienced in Indian food.

I don’t understand how this place gets a good rating !! Maybe they have a good ala carte service, but the buffet is below average. The food is not even fresh in the buffet. Finally had to order off of the menu after trying their buffet. Don’t be fooled by the Unilocal ratings !

They make the best goat curry! This is my go-to place for Indian buffet. There’s a lot choose from and they don’t disappoint. The food caters to meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans alike. Some of my favorites include: goat curry(of course), lamb curry, tandoori chicken, stewed chick peas, dal, assortment of curried vegetables and the garlic naan. Desserts are great too, especially the rice pudding and galub jamun. The dining area is open with lots of seating available. End your meal with a spoonful of fennel, cardamom and some licorice candies!

I like this place a lot. I work nearby so it is a nice place for a fast casual meal. The buffet gets packed so go before 12 pm if you are smart. From what I understand they have a good array of indian food and accomodate veggies. The servers willingly refill the bread. Only thing that can be improved, and it is not food-related, is the payment. They have this absolutely stupid rule about a maximum of 3 cards per table or something. Think about it… why would there be a limit on cards per table? As an example, what if one table has 2 people and another table has 4 people(all 6 of which only have credit cards). Under the current system, the 4th person at the table of 4 is out of luck; they will only accept 3 cards at his/her table. I guess the unlucky fellow could simply move to the table of 2 and then all 6 would be able to pay with a card. Might want to rethink this absurd policy. For the above payment reason, it is 3 stars.

Wanted to try a new-to-me place, went here based on Unilocal reviews. Whatever everyone else is smoking, I want some, because no part of my experience here was anything close to 5-star. Aside from the fact that there seemed to be some confusion as to where to seat the two of us – in a nearly empty dining room on a quiet night — and the waiter mostly not understanding what we were asking(the word«vegetable» was a total miss) and refusing to make any substitutions/additions(of said vegetables), the food we actually got was meh. It was edible, but I have definitely had far better. The biryani lacked the usual fluffiness that I’ve always gotten elsewhere, the naan was sort of doughy and a touch oily — not crispy at all, my saag paneer was inexplicably brown(seriously, can somebody please address this?), the lamb chops were fatty and poorly presented, and I wish I could remember which particular tasteless, gloopy chicken dish we had, but I’m not entirely sure that they are distinguishable anyway. Rasmalai for dessert was somehow sour and hard/crumbly. Needless to say — we elected not to take home any leftovers. There are better Indian restaurants in the area.

I stopped into Cinnamon with a few coworkers for lunch. Their lunch buffet is perfect if you want to sample a lot of different Northern Indian cuisines. The spice level is medium and is manageable. The buffet costs about $ 12 per person. The buffet is laid out on a long table which starts with salad and vegetables then moves on to the chicken and meats. The chicken tikka and chicken tikka masala were wonderful. The dry rub spices on the chicken tikka had the most kick out of everything served. The lamb vindaloo was savory and the meat was tender. Similar to a lamb stew. Watch out for bones on the lamb though. The palak paneer was creamy nice and creamy. This is a spinach(palak) based dish with cottage cheese blocks(paneer), similar to a spinach dip. You can use the naan bread to sop up the palak paneer too. I would also recommend getting a mango lassi, which is a yogurt based drink similar to a smoothie. It definitely helps balance out the heat if you need it. My favorite part was the desserts too. The gulab jamun is a hot fried dough ball(like a munchkin) deeply soaked in syrup. Gajar halwa is a grated carrot dish that is not too sweet. This was good but can be filling after eating a few plates at the buffet. Service was nice and provided our table with a lot of attention even though there was a large office party next to us.

We’ve been in search of solid Indian food in a continually widening radius around Morristown. Unfortunately, the search will continue. Cinnamon is, as 3-stars on Unilocal puts it, «A-OK.» With all the glowing reviews, I was really hoping for something great, but in reality… it’s just«OK.» So… let’s break it down: Food — The chicken makani, lamb vindaloo, the samosas, the baingen bhartha, etc… it had pretty good flavor, but something about it was just underwhelming. Also, at ‘medium’ spice, there was zero heat, which was unfortunate(even on the vindaloo). Nothing about it was incredibly bland, but at the same time, it was just«OK.» Service — Nice people, but on a Friday night, it is slooowww. We were not in any rush, and were pretty relaxed, but there were definitely some folks that were getting agitated. Since none of the other reviews really mention this, I’ll chalk it up to maybe a short staffed kitchen on that night. Décor/Location — Again, it’s just«OK.» A classic New Jersey strip mall location off of Rt 10, and they gave it a go with the small woodcuts all over the walls, but the lighting was a bit uninviting, room a bit large with out much character, etc. Again, nothing particularly negative, but again, just«OK.» I could go on, but you get it. I was not particularly impressed, but I’m certainly not a detractor. I guess I’m A-OK.

People reviewing Cinnamon are hitting the crack pipe hard with their high ratings. I mean hitting the crack pipe every 5 minutes delusional haze hard. I’ve been told by an Indian restaurant owner that there are two types of Indian/Pakistani and/or mugal style of restaurants. Those whose cooks know Indian food by professional trade and who take their homelands cooking to heart(h). And then there are those whose cooks are bachelors, move to the US and decide to open up a restaurant. Whatever category Cinnamon’s cooks fall into — from prebagged chapaddi’s to unseasoned nan or bland pandering versions of Indian food, there are a mighty many more places than this place where I would choose to get Indian food from like 28th and Lexington in Manhattan, St. Marks Place, Iselin/Edison NJ. This place is about as savory as putting a pair of gym socks in your mouth after having them in goretex hiking boots for a full day in the woods. Do yourself a favor and visit Jersey City or Iselin for some real Indian food.

Went there for weekend lunch buffet. Lot of variety/options. Loved the kebabs and lamb curry. The food is less spicy compared to authentic Indian, but overall it tastes good. Good buffet for the price(around $ 12). Its a huge place with lot of seating. Its very spacious.

OK, I have to commit that we have never been in a Indian restaurant before. I was picturing a room filled with curry smell and the air would be spicy enough to burn my lip. After a week of persuasion, my wife finally agreed to go with me. Can you believe that she even put on her worker cloth, for easy easy cleaning … Surprisingly, it was nothing as we expected. Despite sitting next to two very good restaurants, it is not lack of consumers. The place is clean and the folks seated us right away. The menu is dirty thought, as pages are sticked together and could not be opened. Besides that, the food are exceptionally great. First, we were given a few thin crispy«naan», with salty and spicy flavor, accompanied with three different dipping sauce. We ordered two different lamb, and both are great. The entrée is served in a little copper bucket, while rice came in a pot.
