This old fashioned restaurant is located in a truckstop and is open 24 hours. The breads are made fresh and food tastes home cooked. The pot roast was tender with great flavor. They serve the potroast sandwich on a baguette roll which was good but next time we will as to have it on there grilled texas toast which was delicious. The blt was great lettuce and tomatoe were fresh and bacon was cooked perfect right between crispy and chewy. The chips that were served with the blt were standard ruffles chips. The fries served with the pot roast sandwich reminded me of dennys seasoned fries without the seasoning. The boneless bbq wings were good but nothing that would bring me back just for them the potroast however I would come back for and the blt too if i had a taste for one. They sell freshly baked breads, pies, cakes, pastries, etc in there front case and entrance that look like they would be worth trying at home.

Stopped here to get some dinner. I’ve been here a handful of times over the years and I love the antique toys and other decorations. It’s located off I-80 in a truck stop and the place has a nostalgic feel to it. Love the marionette puppet show near the front. That’s been around since I was a kid Food is decent. Very big variety of a menu. I ordered the Salmon fillet plain and it came with a trip to salad bar and a side of mixed veggies. The salad bar was just meh. Iceberg lettuce and standard toppings. Nothing great. The salmon was undercooked in the middle. I should have sent it back but I was so hungry I didn’t want to wait.(Mistake) but it was tasty and I ate every last bite. The veggies were not good — overlooked so much they had no taste. My auntie had a steak quesadilla and loved it. Mom ordered a burger and fries and I tasted a fry– it was very crisp and tasty. Shannon was our server and she was very attentive. Four stars for service. Minus one for the undercooked salmon.

Had the fried chicken. Very tasty but they could have changed the oil more often. Had a bit of a burned taste. Otherwise it was excellent. Also had the boneless wings buffalo style. Very good. Salad bar had a tomato onion celery mix with dressing that was fabulous. Very good service and attitude. I will return.

We have been going to R Place for over 25 years. Just returned from dinner with my wife. The food has been pretty solid up until out last few visits. Tonight was the worst. While our waitress was friendly. Service was SLOWWWW and the food was marginal at best. It took 45 minutes before we received our appetizers. Which were over cooked. Another 15 minutes later we received our very marginal dinners. I am afraid to say this was probably our last visit there. It looks like time is not being good to good ‘ol R’s.

This is by far one of the best truck stops, ever. Our food was hot and delicious. Our waitress, Michelle, was attentive, friendly and came often to check on us. The menu was extensive and there is something for everyone. Their bakery selection is amazing, a must try. We will be back for sure!

R place is a truck stop with a 24 hour restaurant in it. The restaurant has antiques as decorations everywhere you look and the bakery is one of my favorites. There’s also not to many good salad bars left around. The actual hot food is real good but it’s a hit or miss on the chef. The service is usually real good. Oh and they have a burger challenge that not to many can finish but if u finish it, your meal is free. The gift shop is a little pricey but the food isn’t.

Morris little secret hiding behind the gas station. Homemade baked goods. Fried chicken perfect. Save room for dessert.

They have home cooked loaves of bread for 3 $, the best food and the best desserts. Plus a 4lb burger. I live in here when I come through Morris !!!

They scorched my eggs. They SCORCHED my eggs. Even an 8 year old can scramble eggs without scorching them. Idiots. Edited to add that the portions are large, the service is friendly and attentive, and the place is clean. However, they scorched my friggin eggs and there is no excuse for that.

Great food, great service. This was my first visit to R Place and I would definitely come back. The atmosphere has a small town charm. The staff was very polite and prompt. We didn’t wait long for our food. I ordered the Mad Max Pancake Madness. 2 eggs to order(over easy for me) perfectly cooked, 4 bacon strips perfectly cooked, and hash browns. I prefer mine a little crispier but still very good. My wife had the French Toast which after trying from every restaurant in the area, she claims R Place has the best! Very pleased with this visit!

As good as I remember… it had been over a decade since my last visit. Used to stop in before visiting Cliff’s Insane Terrain in Marseilles. I had forgot that #chicagosbesttv was here for their 4 lb burger challenge, as it turns out the biscuits and gravy is pretty much a 4 lb challenge too. Linda is a very pleasant server, so I recommend her. T/A bought this 7 years ago and Chef Bev is still at it after 26 years. Their pecan roll looks insane, as well as the cinnamon roll.

I love this place! If you can get over the fact that it’s attached to a truck stop, it’s a great family restaurant. Great food, friendly service and a fair price. My boyfriend probably thinks I’m crazy, but I insist on stopping here whenever we’re passing through Morris. You can’t go wrong with a skillet or pancakes. Everything from the breakfast menu is delicious!

Give it a 1 for tonight. I’ve been coming here for years and always had great service and all right food. tonight they sucked. terribly. after ordering the spaghetti and meatballs i got my salad bar(which was good). .then waited… and waited… and waited. over an hour later it arrived. terrible sauce and three meatballs that i didn’t even touch. told the waitress to to take it back. worst dinning experience ever.

Great food great service will be back. We got the ribeye and the cashew chicken and asparagus. Both where very good. The salad bar was very well maintained and fresh. Homemade crutons is a nice touch. As for the décor… I don’t mind the décor I rather like old antiques so I liked it.

I really like this place. Although it’s always busy. The staff is friendly. The food doesn’t take to long unless you order the fried chicken. But, it’s really good. But you would want to get the salad bar for sure. It’s worth the trip. A pretty decent salad bar. The potato salad is the best in Morris, you defiantly want to buy some to go. They have a good variety of foods, but so many wonderful desserts. You don’t want to stand at the check out to long because you will for sure buy something else while your waiting. great cakes, muffins and you name it!

Don’t miss this dining experience! My wife and I had the fish and chips for seniors. The cod fish was perfectly battered with a light crust and the chips were seasoned perfectly. The salad bar was fresh and included homemade items. The service was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and menu. We bought two of the bakery items to go and enjoyed them the following day. GREATPLACE *****

SNOOOOORRRTTT… SCRAAAAATCH!!! I figured since I am a truck driver, this was an appropriate opener… YES… this is a truck stop, YES, there will be truck drivers eating in the establishment… But no worries, we will ALL keep our shoes and shirts on, promise!!! So, onto the actual review… This place is amazing! The food is completely home made, and the portions are more than enough. And the bakery, LORDHAVEMERCY!!! This is the first thing you see when you walk in, and you better be strong willed. I would give the place 20 stars if possible. The service is great, food is spectacular, in spite of it being a TRUCKSTOP!!! :-)

Sad to say food looks better than it tastes. The chicken was very bland. The mashed potatoes and soup an dressing were about the only thing with flavor!

Loved the décor, so many antiques in one place! Based on other peoples reviews, you have to appreciate history more than slasher movies to get it! This was our second time here. Pretty big menu with lots of just ok food. They used lots of canned veggies, mushrooms, soups and fruit and very little seasonings. The portions are truck stop size(it’s in one so why not?). They’re pretty busy at peak meal times so it can be loud. I think the real draw to this place is in the dessert case, it is massive and has everything! Children eat free, cool décor, good desserts, and big portions of pretty basic food. That’s all this place has going for it.

First of all, the décor is hideous and frightening. Twirling umbrellas hang from the ceiling, a scary clown dangles in the corner, it’s crowded, the furniture looks like it belongs in a 70s restaurant, the floor is dirty and stained. The cash register area smelled like a dirty diaper. We ordered the chicken fried steak dinner, a veggie burger, and a cup of ham and bean soup. You do not get what you pay for. The prices are way too high. The plates were huge, but the portions were not fitting to the plate. Food is obviously frozen food. The chicken fried steak was acceptable, barely, with bland gravy. It came with a large piece of kale randomly placed on the plate like some 1980s plate decoration. The mashed potatoes it was served with were ok. The carrots tasted like bagged, frozen carrots that were overcooked. It also came with the salad bar, which has a sparse selection. The veggie burger was actually very good. It was served with a slice of tomato. What I did not like was the frozen(it still had ice in it) marinara-tomato-paste substance all over the bottom of the bread. I ended up eating the veggie patty, the tomato, and the top piece of bread. The baked beans tasted ketchup-y. The French fries were excellent. The ham and bean soup tastes like someone opened a can of white beans and dumped some pre-cooked chopped ham into it. That was it. No spice or flavor. Except salty. It took 20 minutes to take our order and we were never offered refills. The staff was nice, just incompetent.
