If you’d like service with a scowl go to David Todd’s City tavern! We where greeted wonderfully, perfectly. Down hill from there. Server had a scowl on her face for every conversation we had, place wasn’t busy so it wasn’t that they could’ve been flustered from craziness. Food o. k if you like loads of salt, I don’t. Won’t go back here again unless I’m feeling the need for warm salt with a scowl!

Have gone to this restaurant several times. Always thought the food was consistent and good. Went last night — place was empty. Food portions were small and poorly seasoned. Bartender barley shook my martini — so it was lukewarm at best. One of the bartenders looked like she came straight to work from the gym… Wearing spandex and a tank. Staff seemed generally uninterested in serving the very few patrons. Disappointing at best

David Todd’s was the perfect venue for my 40th birthday celebration. Todd Redmond politely, clearly, and promptly answered all questions prior to our dinner and provided a range of options for my party of 20. Easy to work with and light hearted, staff were excellent and confirmed and met all requests. Cocktails were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our guests, unsolicited, commented on how well the pork, chicken, and salmon were prepared. It was a memorable evening. I highly recommend David Todd’s and am appreciative to their competent staff.

I have to say, I really wanted to like it here. The servers were very nice. I like the art on the walls. But the food was extremely meh. And expensive. The breading on the fried calamari came apart and was chewy. The beans with the scallops inedible. The scallops? Meh. The red snapper was tasty but a tiny portion, the rice was dry and bland and the black eyed peas were like right out of a can. The best item was the French fries. We had two glasses of wine and the bill was well over $ 100. No wonder the tables were almost all empty on a Friday night. I don’t get how this place survives. Go some place else.

Went there today for the first time. We all ordered, the drinks came and then came the long wait. I mean a good 30 – 40 minute wait. When we first arrived there were a few tables, but most were empty. It seemed the tables around us received their food before us and we were seater prior — maybe it was the fact that I and the kids were so hungry by that point we were hallucinating. The food eventually came and it was a let down. My beets salad was mediocre and Judy had beets and pecans, no arugula, no goats cheese — boring. My French onion soup was ok, nothing special. My wife’s salmon was undercooked with some couscous and 4 asparagus — for $ 26! One of the kids had Cesar salad and she complained there was too much cheese and I had to agree. That salad was $ 9 and they charged us an extra $ 10 for a chicken breast to be added. In my eyes it should be a really good salad for $ 19 and it was small and not good. The other child had fish and chips — her favorite. She didn’t like theirs — the fish was fish pieces and undercooked. Just not good all round. I was asked if I wanted another beer and then if we wanted desert — I didn’t want to put another penny in this places pockets. Terrible and will never return. Treated the kids to some ice cream from the awesome place next door. Hope this review helps someone else avoid this place.

Food was bad relative to price, service was terrible. It took forever to get our drinks. Waiter had an angry disposition. My tuna was clearly frozen and not ideal for searing; it was a big roundish chunk of meat and the middle was actually cold. When I told the waiter about the cold tuna, he didn’t offer any apologies. He took the plate and came back in about 5 minutes. It was obvious they just put it in the microwave. All 6 of us said we wouldn’t come back.

I wanted to like this place — it has a nice interior, large bar, and a good atmosphere. The hostess was cheery and accommodating upon walking in. The owner stopped by our table when we sat down. Our waitress was also very nice and helpful, the service was very good overall. Unfortunately, both the food and drinks left much to be desired. The Manhattan I ordered was a light pour, especially for $ 15, but tasted ok. The Old Fashioned was pretty mediocre, made with granular sugar instead of simple syrup. Wine list was ok. The food was the real issue. The ingredients seemed fresh, which is a shame because all 3 dishes were either over sauced or over seasoned. The Foie Gras was drowning in some sort of balsamic reduction, which completely overpowered it. The duck was cooked perfectly medium-rare and had great consistency, but tasted like a rosemary bush. The filet was also perfectly cooked and tender, but was over salted. Maybe the kitchen just had an off night, I don’t know. At least for the food, there are better options down the street.

We made a reservation thru Open Table for Sunday brunch. We got there and there were only 2 tables occupied. There wasn’t a greeter present. We waited for about 5 mins looking around for a waiter or someone to help. At the moment we were heading to the door, a waiter came and we got seated. The coffee was cold, the food took long to be served. Nobody came often to check on water refills or anything like that. When finally the food came, it was kind of salty. Everything look made without effort or care. Well, it’s Sunday I guess they were sleepy. In general, the food was OK, it could had been better. The service was slow and not friendly. We waited to be greeted, and to be served. They were only fast at the time to collect the check. The ambience is quiet and clean. However, I don’t think I’ll come back especially on a Sunday.

Everything was spot on, from the service to the food. From the wild boar sausage to the scallops and filet. Very well done.

We went here for dinner the other night and I honestly was not too impressed. I’ve been excited to try this place for a while and we finally did and I left with it checked off my list of places I’ve been and not planning to come back to. As we walked in we were nicely greeted and offered to hold our coats in the coat check which was very nice for the winter months. We were seated promptly(had a reservation) and drink order was taken right away which was nice. At no point were we offered to hear any specials … the only reason we found out that their were specials is we were asking questions and our waitress at one point suggested we try the special which was exactly like what were were in the mood for. Would have been helpful to know this up front vs. debating entrees. My BF ordered the lamb special which he greatly enjoyed, I had the scallops which I thought was OK. The service was lacking in other ways, the dish I ordered came out incorrectly and the waitress looked to me to tell her what I wanted her to do. Every customer just wants it fixed!

Went here tonight with another couple. The bar area– good vibe and lively. Dining area was partially filled. The food: Seared Foie gras– small portion but tasty if you like it. Lamb shank — very good Filet mignon– average and somewhat disappointing. Beet salad — nothing special but decent Skate– one of the standout. Pork mignon– good. Would go back

Went here for dinner with a group of four. Waiter was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions on wine and dinner selections. Loved the wine flight option and flights were priced very reasonably. The entrees were priced a bit steep. Had the calamari with thai chili sauce as appetizer(delicious); red fish(good but a little spicy); lamb shank and gnocchi. All were good. Only mild disappointment was the beignets for dessert — tasted like pepper. Overall, enjoyable meal.

Amazing service in bar twice by same waiter, great bartending, nice range of appetizers, welcoming atmosphere. Would like to hear music in bar, which they may have, but wasn’t there when we were, both on Thursday nights. Will return.

First time eating here. Amazing food. I asked for a selfie stick joking and the owner really came out with one and took a picture with us. He was the sweetest man I’ve met

Planned on going to a different place, accidentally parked right outside David Todd’s and thought we would give it a try. Yo. It is my favorite place in Morristown! Great music. Homemade sodas, awesome drinks, and everything we ate was delectable. Portions could be a little bigger for the price, but whatever. Take my money.

Had a wonderful meal here last weekend. Literally, the only flaw I found was the same with any other Morristown restaurant, parking sucks. Otherwise, it was great. Started off with a Bloody Mary(no surprise there) that was delicious. Ordered the red fish. It was seasoned to perfection, delicious and the portion was spot on. Décor and service are also quite nice. Not sure if they automatically bring bread to the table but you should make it a point to ask for it. It was spectacular except, of course, to the annoying gluten free dinner guest we were with. Not sure what gluten actually tastes like but judging from gluten free selections it must be fucking awesome. Prices are not cheap but for the quality, portion and selection it’s on point. I would advise that if you are going to make a reservation you specify seating in the dining room. There are a bunch of tables in the bar but it can get quite loud. This was not explained to me when i called but they were able to move us into the dining room with no problem at all. If you are looking for upscale dining in Morristown, you must try David Todd’s. It’s a welcome addition to a town with no shortage of wonderful restaurants that is quickly becoming a favorite go to location, crappy parking aside.

The female bartender is very friendly. They have a fun reasonably priced happy hour food menu. Great place to stop for a snack and a glass of wine on a Monday.

The location on Unilocal map is not right. It is nice to walk in on a sunny day and sit outside for lunch. Ten dollar burger with fries. I particularly like the sea salt in and on the food. The salad is over salted and too cheesy for me. There is a long bar inside but the room is a little chill. Owner also put a bowl of clean water in the front to serve passing by dogs who take their owners out for a walk. P. S. You can find good dessert five yards away from an ice cream shop afterward.

I love David Todd’s! The ambiance is great. Nice lighting and very chic décor. Service is quick and attentive. We went for dinner on a Saturday night. They have a really nice menu with unique items. The have a great wine list and creative drinks. The prices are a little high but the quality is very good so you really feel like you are getting a great deal for the price(all entrees also come with sides and portions are large). I started with oysters-fresh and delicious. My husband got the short rib Mac and cheese which he ate every bite of :). I then got the short rib entrée-highly recommend! The meat is perfectly done and the truffle mashed potatoes and carrots compliment the meat so well! My husband got the foie gras burger which he said was very tasty-I stole some fries which were awesome ;) For dessert the hubs got the flowerless chocolate cake and I got the DT martini(chocolate and espresso-yum). All in all a wonderful date night.
