Lunch was great. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. I sat at the bar and inhaled my lunch and drinks due to work, but still enjoyed the bar and saw a lot of folks pop in for a bite and for gatherings. Not noisy during work lunch so check it out if you are around.

I was here on 4÷9÷2016. The reason I am giving it 3 it for it being OVERCROWDED. It was so crowded that while I was upstairs there was no room at all to move. Which is a safety concern that should be addressed. I did enjoyed the beer. young crowd which is nice. The corn beef egg roles were good.

Food: surprisingly good. Especially shepherds pie, spicy shrimp and chicken potstickers. Bar: moderately priced, typical Irish pub. Upstairs: I liked going dancing at Grasshopper back in my younger days(1 year ago). Lots of groups and your typical 22 year old Jerseyians.

So firstly, I will say that I completely understand that there are really mean customers out there who, on crowded nights, make the bartenders even more overwhelmed than they already are. That being said. I’ve never been so blatantly disrespected before. I asked, when the bartender had the chance, to please refill my cup for water. He picked up my cup and threw it across the bar and then walked away. Some girl next to me was like OHHH you need to have money out if you want water. ??? What. Even worse, the next bartender in front of me I was like please can I have some water? As he was putting water in a cup he was calling me all of these nasty things! As though I was doing something wrong by trying to hydrate in order to avoid passing out at the bar. I genuinely hope that management sees this comment so that the bartenders can be educated on the importance of drinking water, especially for women who do not want to get scary trashed like everyone else. I was extremely upset and can’t even come up with an excuse for any of it. I was smiling and being completely polite, my mistake.

Came here on a Monday night. My friend & I both ordered burgers cooked medium. They came out well done/dry, and the steak fries tasted old/stale — like they were leftover from the weekend. For a $ 10 burger with fries, the fries should have been freshly made! Plus my soda was flat. Disappointing. Maybe better on the weekends, but if I’m spending $ 10 on a burger, it should have been better. I would have had a better burger with fries at 5 Guys or Smash Burger.

Used to play here all the time with various bands, and when I say all the time it was once a month minimum. Never had a bad experience with the staff there. The bouncers were always cool to us and went a long way towards making sure we were good to go. Owners and bartenders were always helpful as well and never gave us a hard time. It just gets dangerously packed upstairs to the point of not feeling safe when I was playing. However, chaos usually means fun.

When it comes to after hours, Unilocal reviews are often overlooked. Let’s be clear on some things, when an establishment’s liquor license is until 2 am, it means they cannot serve liquor after 2 am. So when someone asks to use the restroom at 1:58, it’s, of course, up to the owners discretion as to what they want to do. They still have unauthorized patrons sitting at the bar drinking. The amount of time it takes to argue with someone who needs to pee before their Über comes will STILL not equal the amount of time it takes to get the stragglers out of your bar. If you want to think you’re a big bad«city» bar, on par with Hoboken(which is also a joke), you’re in for a laugh. This place thinks that they are on caliber with major cities because all of the«suburbinites» think they’re the shit by coming here. Basically, the bars in Morristown are lame and if you think you’re «being seen» when you come here, you’re in for a rude awakening. I’m sure the food sucks just as much as the clientele. I’d rather pay $ 10 for a well drink to know that I’ll be let back in after spending money than to experience what I’ve experienced at this shithole, over packed, fire code violating establishment tonight.

This place has great food, awesome bartenders and they bring in great weekend bands. This place is surrounded by a lot of places to get late night food after jamming out in the club.

This is a pretty typical American-Irish pub. My friends and I came here to kill some time and drink some pick-me-ups before dinner. Two of us ordered the Irish Coffee and the other two ordered a Hot Toddy. Good service, clean bathrooms(at least around 5:00pm on a Saturday).

Love this place for its food and night life. Always go here with my friends at night for $ 2 beers with a band or DJ. I also go here with my gf and parents for dinner. Amazing prime rib for the price except they always overcook it, a rare comes out medium so they need to fix that. Haven’t had a bad meal yet so I recommend.

Great place to come watch a game. They also have excellent beer, near perfect view of TVs from anywhere in the place really, and decent food. I came here to watch a Rangers game, place started to get really loud and rowdy as time went by and you couldn’t even hear the person right in front of you. As the game finished around 10.30pm I left because the noise was over the top for us. This place is exactly what one would expect from a happing college/post college pub. As of older folk like me I now prefer a quieter venue.

Great atmosphere for any soccer game. Service is efficient and friendly. Food is your typical Irish and pub fare, but so much fun to watch the games here! Always draws a lively crowd.

Ive come here a bunch of times. Usually i come here for St. Pattys Day, but i have come on other occasions. We got here early on Friday for happy hour and it wasnt our scene so we left. We did come back later at night, and they had a dj playing top 40 with the videos playing on a screen. We had a good time dancing the night away. The crowd definitely gets better at night, and a good amount of people show up.

Great bar and fun place to watch a game. We came for dinner upstairs on a Sunday night and had a mediocre experience. Started off well. We ordered the house made mozzarella sticks which were the highlight of the evening 4 out of 5 stars, marinara sauce was very thin or would have been a 5. Next, I ordered the mesclun salad which was possibly 3 out of 5. It might have been a 4 if not for the soggy, older clump of lettuce that was conveniently placed on top of the greens. I removed this and a few other wilted pieces and kept them on the side. My friend’s burger was ordered medium well, but came out rare. She decided to eat the edges, but left most of it, whereas I would have sent it back. However, this was tough as no one checked on us during our meal and the server who cleared our plates didn’t seem to care or pass on that the meal was mediocre at best. For dessert, We just said no and got the check. In all fairness, we did not tell our rather absent waiter about the food… nor did he ask. This experience was not too different from my other visits, which are usually 3 to 3+ stars. Better bar than restaurant!

Maybe you come here to drink and I did see some people with to go bags, but I wouldn’t take it home. Drink was strong but meal was dry and overcooked. I really wished more from this place given the outstanding waitstaff. Stick with the drinks.

Terrible table service. Table was sticky, chair was dirty, we ordered Brooklyn Oktoberfest and got Sam Adams, there was a lemon seed in my beer glass, my other beer tasted like the soap they washed the glass with, my fries were too greasy and burnt to eat, and the waitress was missing half of the time. Good job Grasshopper!

It’s ok. Food is expected of an Irish pub theme place. Been several times. Sometimes bar staff go beyond a hello what can I get you. Don’t expect them to say how was your day. Prices are reasonable for entrée and apps.

Left Iron Bar last night to try this place out and I’m glad we did. No long lines, fast bar service and good music and no abusive bouncers like Iron Bar has! Will def go back.

Cruising through Morristown to relive my(way too long ago) youth… needed refreshments. Quick check on Unilocal, and settled on Grasshopper. Worked out well. On entering, one knows this is primarily a «bar»… it smells like a bar, and NOT in a bad way. Maybe a little beer soaked wood somewhere on the premises. And lots of big screens with a great selection of baseball and European soccer. Being a quiet Sunday afternoon, not many people. Hopped up on a high top with rotating stool tops… boy did that bring back memories. Only remember those from pharmacy soda fountains and the«5 and dime»(advanced senior citizenship is starting to show). Started with a nice draft IPA(not a lot of craft selections — but enough good ones), and a house wine. Good start. Selected basics from the menu… the House«Fitz» Burger and the Philly Cheese Steak. Both were excellent. The burger was huge, cooked as requested, moist but not greasy. Needed a tiny shake of salt, but I prefer to do that myself, Cheese steak — large, and tasty. Rolls were perfect. Served with a tiny cup(thimble?) of coleslaw, a very large/good garlic dill and some steak fries that were likely not hand-cut, but were cooked perfectly, in clean oil. Surprisingly, both items were priced LOWER than the Unilocal online menu prices. The bartender was also the server, and did a great job — friendly, prompt, checked frequently, but not too often, made us feel welcome. Overall, a great experience.

After realising that 3 out of my past 4 reviews were for gyms, I thought I’d better get back to reviewing an establishment that better reflects my priorities in life ;) The Grasshopper has a relaxed«pub» atmosphere, serving food into the evening then upstairs(on the Saturday night) they generally(always?) have a live band and the place gets pretty busy. The music selection was excellent and varied, keeping the(young-ish) crowd well entertained. They have an ok selection of beer and plenty of stronger options. Pricing is on the high side of reasonable but not bad for a place that has live entertainment. Didn’t eat here so my review does not take into account any food. Oh, and if you want to use the bathroom when it’s busy, don’t hang around waiting for the single ones on the ground floor as they have larger facilities upstairs and down below.

So I went here with my friends as part of a night of barhopping in Morristown. First off, I’ve never been to the bar scene in Morristown and I was excited to see what the hype was all about. And second of all, usually barhopping consists of going to multiple bars. The thing is, we ended up staying at this one all night. So my friends basically lied to me about that HOWEVER, after spending the night at Grasshopper, I was kind of ok with that. The entire styling of it comes across as this old-timey Irish pub which is totally cute to me. Like it has signs kind of like the ones you’ll see in a souvenir catalog with t-shirts that says«Kiss Me I’m Irish» or something Guinness-related. You get what I’m saying? So when you think of this, you think«typical Irish pub with a bit of a rowdy crowd». While this is slightly true, the idea of a club atmosphere probably did not cross your mind. Well, let that enter your mind real quick. My friends and I spent the entire night upstairs because it was POPPIN’(slang term for«very energetic/fun/hip»). There was a DJ. There was lights. There was a dancefloor There was TVs showing music videos. There was a $ 3 shot special(God bless). I had no idea Grasshopper was like that going in there and I am so happy I went at this point. This is coming from someone who hates clubs by the way. It does get crowded here and it’s only open to ages 21 and up. As for my fellow college-kids, there is a crowd for us here. There also is a bit of a mix of people in their late-20’s and older too. And the best part? It’s only a 7 minute walk from the train station for you to stumble to when you’re entirely sloshed. Overall, Grasshopper impressed me and I’m definitely coming here again.

Finally came here last night, first time out in morristown! It definitively reminded me of hoboken. I was surprised it was 3 floors. All three floors were pretty packed. They had a Saturday night special of $ 3 bud lights. Music was great! They played old school and top 40. I’m excited to come back and try other places in morristown.
