One word — Authentic! Not really sure why this place doesn’t have great reviews. Agree that I haven’t visited any other restaurants in Raleigh to compare this against the local competition but hey, I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten enough Indian food since… well, birth! May be the problem is that this place is vegetarian? May be, but that’s not a big problem for me and neither should it be for anyone wanting to taste authentic Indian food — after all the best dishes in Indian cuisine are vegetarian and if you are not open to that, you are missing some good Indian dishes We are always looking for South Indian restaurants that serve traditional dishes like dosa and this restaurant is definitely one. We tried 2 different kinds of dosas, Dahi vada, mango lassi and Paan(yes! They do have traditional Indian Paan!) every dish was authentic and tasted perfect. One suggestion though — I suggest you stay away from the Andhra spicy dosa unless you are looking to burn your palate for the next few hours Yes I do give it that it’s a little pricey but hey… I say it’s worth it!

Delicious food! Ordered via Eat24, and 15 minutes later, they had everything ready. This restaurant is all-vegetarian, but the food is all tasty. Ordered Chef’s Special Uthappam, Carrot Halwa, and some other stuff — all fresh and delicious.

Oh… No… sorry… I’m too stupid to recognize the beauty of your food… The taste is a huge challenge that even bigger than finishing a Phd degree… I have to eat with tears, leave early to home, give me a glass of wine and think about the meaning of life…

The masala dosa, poori-bhaji and coffee were excellent. The sambar was slightly disappointing and kinda runny for my taste, but otherwise a very well kept and clean, no-fuss place with very pleasant service.

Yo! Wanted to give an update on this restaurant. Went there after a while(a year possibly). The service was friendly and with a smile. The head waiter(thin guy with a grin on his face) is excellent at his work — he needs a bonus from the owner! As for the food — less said the better. Everything had lots of oil. The wadas were not drained on tissue paper before serving and they oozed oil. They were also boiling hot so I burnt my lips, trying to eat a piece. The chutneys and sambar were good tasting but they had so much oil and masala that I got a bad heartburn after eating here. The dosas were oozing oil too. My husband had another specialty dosa(of the day) and he said it tasted like maida roti. Dosas never have maida. The Ras Malai served here is NOT rasmalai but tastes more like rice kheer made into a mound. Weird I know, but true! This restaurant has fast deteriorated and prices are super high — possibly to compete with Tower. While we were there, only one other family was sitting there. The place looked empty and sad, except for the grinning waiter — hope he gets a better job elsewhere!

Came here for dinner after a frustrating experience at another local Indian restaurant. The décor is okay. The wait staff was helpful and attentive. I can’t speak to the buffet, but I enjoyed the dish the waiter recommended(kofta) so much that i ordered some veggie korma to go.

I’ve been to this place twice — once for take-out and a second time for dinner. Overall, the food there is generally OK — nothing great, but at the same time not terrible either. They are a pure-veg restaurant, and as such have no meat products. Generally, the food is south indian — though they have a dish or two that crosses into N. Indian territory. Their main competition in the area is Tower restaurant, which is off of Morrisville Parkway(so a bit of a drive) — though they don’t do anything to really distinguish themselves from Tower(so go to one or the other and you’re cool!) My biggest complaint is that their Bhatura is more like a big heavy poori than real bhatura; so stay away from the Bhatura.

I actually came here with co-workers for lunch ok Diwali, thinking I had never been here before. My initial experience was okay. Food was good but nothing special. I just ordered the Paneer Makhani off the menu. It was pretty mild and took a very long time to come out. It may have been because we were a larger group, though. My second visit with my co-workers for the lunch buffet was different. The buffet had many veg options and many appetizer choices as well. The spice level was perfect for me, but probably a bit overwhelming if you’re not used to spicy/Indian food. The buffet even includes fresh dosas off the griddle that are brought straight to your table! I’ve never experienced that. They were amazing and the perfect size(not as large as a normal dosa order — perfect for lunch)! I am looking forward to going here again!

Delicious southern Indian food. Very clean restaurant, if a bit drab. They have a very well organized and extensive buffet. Staff are very friendly and were offering pairing ideas(Idly with coconut instead of mint, etc.). The prison-style metal trays for eating were a nice touch, too — I always think of Indian food as a plate of various flavors and textures and the tray lets you paint a landscape for your palate without ending up with a pile of food that runs together. They’ll bring a dosa out for you — the dosa aren’t sitting on the buffet steaming to goo — they come fresh hot and crispy! Everything was perfect.

A treat for vegetarians! Their buffet covers a good variety of South Indian dishes and is very yummy. Dosa at its crispy best. Best place for South Indian food in RTP! Ambience is ok.

My wife and I were staying at the hotel across the parking lot. It was too late in the evening to bother to take the baby-out, so we decided to call-in our order. Fifteen minutes later, the food was ready and waiting for us. The quick turn-around was much appreciated. I took the grub back to our hotel room, and we partook from some of the best Indian cuisine we’ve had outside of the sub-continent itself. We got the Navaratan Kurma, Dal Makhani, and an order of Vegetarian Samosas. Really good, rich flavors. This place is all vegetarian. We are omnivores ourselves, but I didn’t mind the lack of meat. The price was not too bad, $ 29 for two entrees and an appetizer. Good quick mid-budget bite to eat if you’re staying at the hotel across the way.

A dull boring place that charges premium prices for South Indian Vegetarian food. The dosas are generally tasteless. The sambar and chutney they serve with everything seems to be from bland packet food. Crazy music that seems to be from a single CD all the time. The waiter/manager will remind you that you will get only one idly+one vada — as if they are losing money on the simplest of dishes. If you want a traditional reasonably priced Indian breakfast forget this place.

Food was good. but they are cheap b@@@@@@. First they charge 3 yr old child for kids buffet. especially when we ordered chapati for the 3 yr old… while most friendly desi restaurants don’t even bother to charge under 5 yr old. 2nd.they add a 18% gratuity for buffet. our bill was 82 for 4 adults and 4 children(2 were under 5). And they add 14 bucks gratuity. 2 ailies split the bill and both. like fools. added tip not knowing the added gratuity. ailiesdded the guy watches without alertmg. and collectively we paid 14 dollars in tips. Will never go back there. take the SAI out of the name. swami never likes people who are cheap and greedy. There are many other ways to earn more money. don’t rip us off and be true. Ofcourse.lesson learnt to watch our bills… in desi restaurants.

I was quite surprised by looking at all positive reviews about this place. I’ve been to this indian restaurant couple of times for a weekend buffet. I was dispapotned with their quality of food. Most dishes are messy and lack of flavor for sure. I would have given only one star but extra star for interior and neatness.

Let me say my experience with Indian Food is limited. But I know what I like. I like Dosa and Okra and Saag Paneer and Chai and more but I do not remember the names. I went to Sai Krishna with friends back on a cold sunny Saturday? in February. My friends love this place and warned me that some items can be crazy hot as in spicy not temperature. We chose the lunch buffet. I pretty much had no idea of the names of the things I ate but there definitely was one crazy hot item. Price was good. Service very attentive. Restaurant very clean. Dosa was yum… what can I say. I like Dosa ;)

Go here and order the Paper Masala Dosa immediately! It was hot, crispy, extra thin, and served with the most delicious coconut chutney and potatoes and onions. My husband and I both feel that the dosas here are much better than the ones at Tower Indian Restaurant. We also ordered the Palak Paneer(a bit too pureed for my taste) and the Malai Kofta. We loved the kofta, but there were only 3 tiny balls in the sauce. I feel they were a little stingy with their portions. The gravy was AMAZING though. We can’t wait to go back and try out the buffet!

This was the only open place within walking distance from our hotel, and we were tired and hungry. We were not disappointed. It’s in a strip mall, so don’t expect much atmosphere, but the the food was warm, flavorful, and satisfying. As with most South Indian cuisine, this was all vegetarian but definitely not light. Would definitely stroll over again next time I’m in the area.
