We visited this restaurant on a Saturday morning in January and got right in, party of 2. There was a steady flow the time we were there but never saw anyone who had to wait for a table. First negative was the strong smell of fish, not exactly what you expect walking in for breakfast. I get it it’s next to the ocean but the small was stronger inside than outside. With that being said we gradually got used to it. The help was very friendly, and the bacon was to die for. The potatoes were a lazy mans cut(big and chunky) and I wasn’t impressed with their homemade blueberry muffin, like a biscuit with some blueberries… I didn’t eat it. My husband had the chili verde omelette, it was fine but he would order the traditional breakfast… its your best bet.

This place was absolutely adorable and had really good food. It’s located right near Morro Rock, so it is in a picaresque place. They also have a parking lot which is AMAZING in this area. The staff was super friendly, and oh my gosh, the potatoes. If you happen to be in town, go, and then go get some saltwater taffy and hit the beach.

I Unilocaled quite a few breakfast/brunch places that had 4.5−5 stars. The wait at these places was 45 min. To 1 hr. for a party of 2. Seating was minimal & over crowded at these other places. However, at the coffee pot, we walked right in & were seated right away. Food was PHENOMENAL! Great service! Our waitress was very welcoming & warm. This is the exact atmosphere I was searching for, while traveling up north & visiting Morro Bay. I ordered the Morro Bay Benedict, with homemade corned beef hash. OH.MY.GOODNESS. DELISH! The corned beef hash was cooked the way I like my food; a little crispy. Not quite burned, but toasty. Sometimes corned beef hash can be a squishy & soft texture. But this home made corned beef hash was firm & fried to a crisp perfection. WOW! The hollandaise sauce on my eggs Benedict was extremely flavorful & rich. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection. The runny yolk drizzling down the English muffin was what every Benedict lover enjoys! Another plus in my book;My coffee cup never went empty or cold.

Cute little restaurant, usually very busy for breakfast on weekends! Eaten here many times for breakfast. Has always been good! When the restaurant is busy… I greatly appreciate that coffee can be served while you wait! The O’brien Potatoes are tasty… their omelets are good. I liked the Enchilada Omelet I ordered this time. A big ‘frowny face’ though… the beautiful front window makes it very difficult to be seated facing the window when the sun is shining.

Seems to be a local favorite. Did not accommodate non dairy creamer for my wife who is allergic to milk. I asked for a steak well and it was rare. Eggs were great as was toast. Service was mediocre. If I was back in town I would not go back.

Coffee Pot was ok… I think if when I end up back in Morro, I’ll try somewhere else though. The food was good, even though there was a lingering smell of fish, which considering it’s on the oceanfront is likely to be a common occurrence. The staff was attentive, but it took 3 mentions of a refilling of my Iced Tea, to actually get it refilled. And she seemed a bit cranky too. Overall, a decent place with normal diner breakfast.

The wait wasn’t bad maybe 10 mins. The owner is a Chinese gentleman that works with his employees. while you wait he serves you coffee outside :) it’s a hospitable place. The food tasted great too! And the waitresses were very friendly & down to earth. They have us as customers for a long time.

Everyone LOVED their breakfast. Omelettes, hash browns, biscuits and gravy… you name it. Personally, I ordered the cheese and avocado omelette and filled it with mushrooms and onions. Top 3 omelette of my life. Finally, the waitress and owner were incredibly friendly and I would recommend this place to anyone!

The food is fresh! From the muffins to the biscuits, they make everything from scratch and with love. My family and I got seated promptly, got our drink fast and food took about 10 mins to come out. Excellent service, staff is very friendly. A must try place in Morro Bay!

My family vacations at Morro Bay quite a lot and we have eaten at the coffee pot multiple times over the past 2 decades. This review is for the following plate: The super breakfast: French toast was very good! I’m not a huge fan of potatoes o’brian, and these were average. The had pieces of onion and green pepper in the potatoes but not a lot of flavor. Sausage was also very good! Service was a little slow but very courteous :)

Fabulous food! I had the crab egg Benedict! They were super crowded but still got us in fast, the waitresses are fast and so was our food. I have never received faster service than this place. The owner is really nice! Offered us all free coffee while we waited. I will definitely come here for breakfast anytime I’m in the area.

So how come I’d never been here before??? Pros: Best breakfast O’Brien potatoes! Well– seasoned and perfectly cooked. Breakfast sandwiches on buttery, flaky croissants. Good coffee with REAL cream. Friendly service. Delicious sausage. Decent parking on adjacent lot. Nice atmosphere with great story about the life of the owner. Memoir written about the life of the owner is available for sale at the restaurant. Cons: Wanted to try the country Benedict but they were out of the country gravy and hollandaise for that matter. Will definitely have to come back to try that. Small tables. Memoir only available in hardback and it’s $ 20. Bottom Line: Add this to my list of yummy Morro Bay restaurants!

The service is beyond excellent, portions are generous, staff very friendly and accommodating, wide menu for breakfast AND lunch. Their food is fresh, served quickly and is delicious. Every service person and/or the owner fills and refills your coffee cup constantly. If you need to wait for a table outside the smiling friendly owner passes out coffee mugs and makes the rounds repeatedly filling them for all waiting guests… nice touch, the wait is never more than a few minutes. Coffee Pot raises the standard on service, value, quality… a real winning spot. We’ve been eating breakfast here for 14 summers. The place is consistently superb, maintaing high standards. Locals and tourists alike return again and again from everywhere in the world. The best of the best breakfast places(lunch too) in Morro Bay! See for yourself.

Great service and very good breakfast. The wife had the Belgian waffles stuffed with cream cheese. She loved them! I he’d the kitchen sink omelette. Now depending on how you prefer your omelettes, this was a 7 – 9 on a scale of 10. I prefer my omelettes with the ingredients folded in between the eggs. Mine had the ingredients mixed into the eggs, not my preference. However the omelette was tasty and the biscuit was really good!

Service was… okay…no refills on anything. .were seated sans menus… Hotel coffee was better then theirs, and that coffee I’d declared gross. Food was bland. I ordered an omelet that I couldn’t finish, potatoes were oddly soft and lacking flavor. Too bad, I really wanted to like this place, really I did.

We liked it so much, we went back the next morning, too! This will likely be our go-to spot whenever we are in Morro Bay. Perhaps next time we can try lunch or dinner(do they do dinner?). It’s a nice little place, clean, and friendly staff. Lots of selections to choose from, and the coffee is really good! The first morning I had the frittata, which was delicious! On a side note, when I was waiting for my husband to pay, I noticed a bookshelf next to the front door. Stacks of the book«Double Luck» were on it. It turns out the owner of this restaurant is the author of that book. So I bought one and had a nice chat with his lovely daughter-in-law about the book. He was in China, so I didn’t get to meet him. Maybe next time, as now that I’ve read the book, I’d love to talk to him as well.

We came here for breakfast on a early Saturday morning after seeing the big rock. The cute name drew us in. This place was getting packed but luckily we scored a seat right as we walked in. The staff here is very friendly and you can tell this place has a ton of locals. The service was great, food came out in a timely manner and the food was delicious! I ordered the Morro Bay Benedict which is corned beef hash, poached eggs, english muffin with hollandaise sauce. Definitely hit this place up if you’re in town.
